Penetration is the band that I don't have anything of..
I am in the same position with Delta 5, though I haven't even heard of them. I chuckled after you said "penetration, they were named after ..." My mind went elsewhere. I rally like that Wreckless Eric track. I have never heard From Here To Eternity, believe it or not. Really excellent finds, Mike 👍

As I say vinyl really hard to get but cd quite easy. It absolutely captures The Clash and what they were about….. high energy, just brilliant! Just thought of you actually because I’m currently playing your favourite PJ Harvey followed by the demos version TBYML. What a great album. Mike
Hi Mike, nice VCLT from Mike Vinyl Spiral. There is a great comp that you’ll love ‘The Art School Dance Goes On: Leeds Post Punk 1977-84’. Four discs an includes Go4, The Mekons, Delta 5, The Three Johns, Soft Cell, Fad Gadget, Scritti Politti and lots of less known bands. I picked up the Diamond Dogs reissue and it does sounds great. Hard to believe but I had never listened to it before 😮! Andy
Hi Andy, wow, that comp sounds absolutely perfect for me! Leeds was a real post punk hub during that period. Thanks for pointing this comp out to me, I’m going searching. Do you love Diamond Dogs Andy? I really love it and first heard it when I was about 15, so it really resonated with me. Hard to believe that virtually all of the guitars are Bowie on that album. @@pc31thevinylpoliceman Hi Mike, I’m really enjoying DD. That run of albums including Hunky Dory, Ziggy and Alladin Sane and now DD is for me ‘peak’ Bowie, although I do have a soft spot for Let’s Dance.
From Here To Eternity on vinyl would be great! I've had the CD since it came out and you're right, it's top notch. I'll look forward to hearing more about the bootlegs. I haven't listened to Diamond Dogs for a while but I'll put it on soon, thanks to your reminder. I'm not a big collector of 7" singles, but I am partial to ones with picture sleeves if it's a band/artist that I'm completist or near-completist about.
Hi K, I’m exactly the same with singles, I only really collect my completist bands like The Clash, Comsat Angels, Magazine and a few others. Other than that it’s just the classics in picture sleeves like you. Give Diamond Dogs a re-spin, it’s sooooo good, and virtually all Bowie on electric….incredible! I've wanted to do a top 15 bands/ artists for quite awhile. You guys ( B. Mike, Carl Tweed, Rob W and you.. Harris and others) have really helped me discover important and sensational bands out of the UK that I never got around to !

Wonderful VCLT. I was actually in Ontario last year and Mike told me the bar I needed to hit in Ottawa and I made it to Brockville as well. I don't have anything by Jane Birken but I did rewatch Blow Up recently. I am missing The Clash live, so I will have to look for that one, probably the CD per your recommendation. Who would have thought a Batman connection to the UK Subs 😂 Honestly Randy, ‘From Here To Eternity’ is brilliant. Hi Mike, great to see that you picked up the best album of all time on both regular black vinyl and picture disc. I never bothered getting them... erm, I'm lying, I bought both as well. The sound of the half speed master is excellent and to be honest, I have no intention of playing the picture disc, just like the other Bowie picture discs I have... I would love to get that Clash live album, I only have it on mp3, not even CD... The Clash bootleg where they play to a small crowd of journalists looks really interesting. I would guess they only play from the debut and the odd B side like 1977. Cheers, Richard

Ha, I got shot of that Delta 5 LP. Didn't think it was much cop. The comp of singles & Peel sessions is much better. (Could have done without the pointless remixes on the CD version, mind.) Nice Penetration album; easily on par with their 1st. Early Adam & the Ants: that's the stuff to give the troops. Ooh, The Passions. All 3 of their albums are tip top. Tasty stack of swag there, Mike.

Great video Mike! Love Delta 5, glad to see that came your way. But I didn’t really know Penetration too well. Just been listening to that online and it’s right up my street, don’t know how I missed that until now. Diamond Dogs is such a great album, he was really on a roll at this point of his career, could do no wrong. I didn’t realise Mick Ronson wasn’t on guitar for this record though. Haha when we met up in Leeds Mike vinyl spiral definitely picked up on my not really being into punk which resulted in me missing out on some cool VCLT. I am not particularly rebellious in that way so I steered clear of punk when in fact it's quite mild compared to other things I like. Probably back in the 70s outside of London in provincial towns it was very very alternative to be like that, dress like that truly anti establishment. Maybe something in the ethos I'm not keen on dunno totally. DSOTM I have a 'doom side of the moon' I even played couple of days ago, it's not totally different but at least has enough about it to make it's listening 🎧 sufficiently not just a carbon copy cover version but some artistic variations. Yeah, nice.

Could hear the Dead Can Dance in the background kept thinking it was someone on my train playing their cellphone without headphones. Amazing that DCD can produce such a sound as just a duo. Hi Jason, I’m relatively new to DCD, but I think they are really classy. I intend to pick up a lot more of their stuff, although it appears quite difficult to find. I’m a big Go4 fan, first saw them in the early 80’s in London. I thought Andy Gill was a top guitarist who was under appreciated. Yes, it’s worth checking out Delta 5 for sure. Mike

It really is a fantastic Dead Can Dance album. That’s interesting what Lisa said because does still do a lot of vocal work on the album. Think I shall check out that Dead Can Dance album later. Just checked and have Coming Up For Air, but don't have Moving Targets. Have seen it around a lot, must pick up a copy. The Clash bootleg video sounds good, I picked up a couple recommended by you on a previous video and they were great, other than that I only have the Jamaica one, which is great too. Off later to the inaugural record fair in my home town Alton. A bit up from you, but seems to be quite a lot of VC on the South coast, must check out the Southampton/Winchester fairs one day.

@@pc31thevinylpoliceman Yes, played the Dead Can Dance today and enjoyed it! I don't know if the Alton fair will be happening again. It was small and only 4 stall holders, still managed to buy a few albums though and did discover another record shop in Haslemere I was unaware of. I think there's a record fair in Basingstoke this Saturday too. Now torn between Basingstoke or Haslemere, different directions! Sure I'll see you at some fair or other, more seem to be sprouting up, would be good to meet up.
Look at all that stuff you have to make room for Wanna be Steve. I have never seen a Delta 5 album in the US They have some great stuff. I do have that Pentration, I like the group but I can only take them in smaller doses. Lot of wonderful singles that would make any wanna be Mike jealous
