I can't believe how much great Beatles stuff I saw in this video. I literally NEVER see Beatles UK pressings, I only have a few. And you showed a bunch of awesome bootlegs. One of my record stores has Beatles bootlegs but each are $50, so no way. Another record store I go to had Beatles bootlegs for less than $20

Well, You passed through a lot of Beatles records that said Imports and I saw a bunch of interesting bootlegs. I have close 200 Beatles LPs(and just The Beatles) and I usually see the same stuff 80% of the time. But this video showed mostly stuff I don't have
That's cool.... it's just that most of the stuff was familiar to me. Now, whenever I see Rockboy680's "UK Beatles Fair" videos -- that's were I freak out!
Hi Joe,back here in the UK I am a record dealer and stall out at my local record fair, one thing we never do is force records on to the punters, If some one shows some interest in a particular record I will give them my option if asked,I will try and engage with my customers, have a laugh and joke, but no heavy sell .
I remember as a teen going to record shows near the Colosseum that was HUGE... I'd pick up tape copies of bootlegs because they were much cheaper at the show... Down here in NC, shows are where I really clean up so that's where I save up and do most of my real shopping nowadays. The trick at shows is to show up real early, otherwise it becomes a bit of a feeding frenzy. Down here the dealers are much calmer and ALL will work with you on price.
+dixielandfarm -- They charge $10 admission at this place to get in two hours early ... not worth it for that show. Standard admission is still $5 though.
I find the past few I went to were like that too. I dont go to the anymore. They are over priced, packed with people, and sellers cramming down your throat. Great video ~Cap
Beatle question for ya -- Do you have any of those "Alpha Omega" sets that were sold on TV in 1973? I ordered one of them which was 4 albums & a real mixed bag of stuff including some solo things. I stupidly got rid of my Alpha Omega album set when I off loaded most of my vinyl years ago.
Love that Monkees EP! I'm going to a record show next month and I would love to film some, but I would get so annoyed with everyone asking what or why I was recording. I'm also terrified that someone would yell and tell me it wasn't allowed or something. The last record show I went to I was yelled at because I picked up a Beatles record to check the price! I left crying, maybe I'm too sensitive for this stuff, lol!
I think it is safe to say that vinyl records are as popular today as they ever were. :) I would love to go to these near me. How did you hear about the record show?
Hey Joe, I ONLY buy from dealers who leave me alone. I have let really nice items go due to pressure. It's just not cool. The shows are getting much busier, and I agree with Steve that that might have something to do with it. The Yellow Matter Custard was a really cool cover. Take care...
+Tim Allen --- I always feel obligated to answer them when they keep asking me questions and push me into buying. One guy kept asking me: "Do you like Rush? I have a great picture disc here -- check it out! I have other picture discs here...", and I had to tell him "I'm not a Rush guy". Just leave me alone and let me look for myself and if I have any questions I'll ask you.
cool record show video! Time for Joe to start keepin it real with you. I understand he's a business man but its another thing to be an honest business man!
The thing I don't like at record shows is when you're looking at their stuff and they're sitting across from you eating. The other thing that aggravates me is when I'm looking at CD spines, which the print of is tiny enough as it is!,...and the spines are facing the other way! arghhhh
+Lee Maloney --- This one's actually rather small for these parts, I think. There are some huge shows in NYC which I have never been to, at least not yet.
Hi Joe. I agree with you about the hard sell its not good to do that record browsing is a personal experience I think but some dealers I've spoken to can be very rude (it sort of goes hand in hand with the Hi-Fidelity film one is rude, one sensitive and the other out the back hiding) I suppose for some at the end of the day its their job and they need the money. No need to frazzle other people's brains like you say.... Does also seem to be a chance for dealers to overcharge. There also seemed to be too much stalls to look around. Was this the same fair as another VC member?
+Martin Parrott -- I don't think it was the same fair. And yes, there's always too much to look at. For me, I don't usually bother unless the records are in some kind of order by genre, artist, decade, etc.

I hate sellers that are pushy too, i usually say that "i'm just watching" and if i find something i buy. Normally they're satisfied with that. However i love videos from record shows, makes me wish for the shows here in my city! :)
I stopped going to the record show out here because of the dirty looks you get if you walk out empty-handed. I feel the $2 entry charge entitles me to browse!
Very cool. I agree with the crazy ass dealers making you feel bad for not buying. I dont like it. However i wish i could buy everything i wanted but unfortunatley were not all made of money. But I think having to save up for albums is half the fun of collecting. Cause if i was rich i could just order all mint copies off discogs!
+Elvis Presley Collector -- I didn't think to show an Elvis dealer's collection, unfortunately. There's a guy who has a lot of Presley stuff there, but it's kind of expensive.
+MeanMr Mayo Yeah ive run into elvis dealers who have expensive stuff. Although i want some so bad i know if i wait ill find it at my favourite store for a affordable price
Lol, not pleasureable. I can only think that the increase of buyers is causing more dealers to come out and travel to shows and wnat to make their dealer fees quickly. I spyed, Mike S, Paul, the 60% guy and the Russian chap from Providence. Fun for me!
