Vinyl (Sony PS-X5) - Frank Zappa - Eat That Question
Turntable: Sony PX-X5 Direct Drive
Phono Cart: Grado Red
Preamp: Rega Fono Mini
Stereo: Marantz 2235b
Notes -- Blessed Relief, the beautiful and soulful final track from Frank Zappa's 1972 classic, The Grand Wazoo. This song really betrays his television heritage; for some reason, I'm always reminded of the theme song from "The Odd Couple." This recording comes from the original Bizarre label pressing, which sounds fantastic. When you're hunting for Frank Zappa on LP, always get the Bizarre version! The Reprise LPs sound great, but the original records are just a touch better.
The turntable is my dependable Sony PS-X5 Direct Drive, and the phono cartridge is a Grado Red. The phono preamp is the Musical Fidelity V-LPS (w/PSU), and is connected to a Marantz 2235b stereo receiver.

“Blessed Relief”, Soothes the mind and body ! The song is equal to a warm comfy bed ! F. Z. What a musical genius , guitarist , comic, guardian of human rights against censorship. Yes ,Frank Zappa & Dee Snyder of ‘ “Twisted Sister”,went to capital hill for us to fight censorship of music lyrics the government were imposing on the music industry in the late 1980’s.

I accept that as a metaphor... but I would rather say that Z brought heaven on earth. And what did he leave after him, was his music... on vinyl. I brought all my vinyls to my summer place in the Finnish wilderness and there are practically all Z-recordings starting from sixties. I am convinced that vinyl is the old faithful, high fidelity... Time and time again, it is coma.

This album, along with Waka/Jawaka was recorded while Zappa was rolling around in a wheelchair following his being pushed off the stage in London in Dec. '71. Many a "Rock Star" in the same situation would use that recovery period laid up and eating fistfulls of meds. NOTHING could keep Frank Zappa from composing and recording! RIP, Uncle Frank

Peter Verhoeven What on Earth are you talking about “never went back to the UK”? Zappa TOURED the U.K. on several occasions after the “Rainbow Theatre incident”! I saw him live 5 times all over Scotland and England after the Rainbow attack, from 1975 in the Glasgow Apollo to 1988 at the Birmingham NEC. Much of “Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar” and “Sheik Yerbuti” was recorded live in London at the Hammersmith Odeon years after the leg break incident.

When she was pushed he had his back to the audience and pulled dow cables and a mic. It was a big dramatic crash. Many people laughed as they thought it was a stunt. No one moved until we were ordered to leave.
