I bought mine at a local record store in November (I'm sort of late to the King Gizz party) and it did come in a classic black or "recycled black wax" variant. I really appreciate their commitment to eco-friendly packaging. The coloured variants are sick and I wish I could have gotten one but at the end of the day it's all about the music and it's my favourite King Gizzard album so far.
I skipped the pre-order, but when the album released I regretted that. So I ordered from an online retailer and ended up getting the rainbow vinyl. I was happily surprised it wasn’t just classic black! Agreed the packaging is top-notch, and the album art is growing on me haha.
I got my Sun mortar a few days ago, came out better than I expected. The name Sun mortar doesn’t necessarily fit the coloring to me but that’s okay with me looks sick regardless. Edit: now that I’ve seen you’re copy our discs are different, mine is much more black with a very slight tan/brownish hue to it. Less colorful but feels ominous, not sunlike though lol.
Yeah, totally agree about the sun mortar label on this color of a disc. I was thinking it would be something brighter and more fire like. Oh well, it has kind of a classy look to it!
