Thanks for the video, it helped me hardwire my Viofo A229 pro using the HK4 kit which is virtually identical to the HK3. Thanks again & subscribed 👍🏼

Hello, I also have the A229 Pro 2CH with the hardwire kit. I advise you if this is not done, to put the latest firmware from February 27, it solved a problem of missing images (which also prevented me from concatenating the videos with software). Other bugs are fixed and features added...

One important advantage of this Hardwire Kit vs the others, is that the huge majority are pre set to 11.8 or 12V. Something that standard car batteries really really hate is to go bellow 50% State or Charge because it literally kills the life of the battery. That 50% is reached around 12 to 12.2V, only deep cycle batteries can go lower than that but yet, not lower than 11.8V. If you don't want to kill your battery, stick to this kind of Hardwire Kits with selectors, right now there are a few of those with USB-C. Mine should reach today 🙂 but sadly my Wolfbox G840H got delayed until next week 😞

Which selection would you recommend on this kit? Or does it depend on the car?

Thanks for the video sir. I have a question concerning the different voltage of fuse used in the video. The 10 amp on bottom for where the fuse were taken, and a 15 amp on top for the hardwire kit. I ant to know if that will cause a problem or blow the 10 amp fuse? Thank you so much.
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 28 дней назад
You're welcome R ! Ah remember a fuse tap creates 2 separate independent circuits (each one with a different amp rating partially determined by fuses that are loaded into the each fuse slot in the fuse tap, the car's internal wiring and current load on the circuit to be tapped as determined by your installer) The fuse removed from the vehicle goes in the fuse tap bottom slot and the second fuse (top fuse) is for the hardwire kit. So they are each independent of each other, each one driving it's own load. Here is another video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qzw9yUYN7zo.html where I explain how fuse taps work in more detail, Cheers!

@AlexAutoFun Thank you so much for the quick reply. I was a little confused because I saw another video saying you don't put a higher voltage over a lower voltage fuse. 👌 👏 👍. Keep putting out those videos. Very informative.

You're welcome! Yeah it can be confusing, I actually have a video on the work where I go into more detail and cover voltage, amperage, how the fuse taps work and more so hopefully that will help, stay tuned. Cheers!

Thabnks for sharing. Do you know if ACC wire in is used only as a sensor, taking power always from red wire? In a motorhome setup with two batteries (engine and leisure), sharing ground but positive isolated, is it possible to power it from leisure battery and connnect acc to engine’ s battery acc without “linking” batteries?
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 7 месяцев назад
You're welcome Marco! Ah yes normally ACC is used to understand if the vehicle is On or Off. While it maybe possible to connect ACC to a separate battery (that can provide the ACC signal), I'm not sure if there could be any issues as I'm not familiar with dual battery setups. You may be able to contact Viofo for their advice or your installer may also have a better recommendation. Cheers!

@AlexAutoFun 7 месяцев назад
Hi Matan! You're installer can determine the correct fuse to be used based on the hardwire load, safety factor desired and other considerations that are normally taken when determined the fuse on a circuit. Alternatively, if you contact the the manufacturer of the hardwire kit, they usually can recommend a fuse rating to use. Cheers!

On average how much time will the parking mode keep recording before it hits 11.8v?
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 2 месяца назад
Hi V! That will depend on the car's battery, size, age, health condition and state of charge. In addition you also want to take in consideration any parasitic draw from other items on the vehicle that use power when the car is off. This is specially common on newer vehicles. For example I have an older Jeep that can sit for months a time with little to no battery draw, then I have a newer car that will almost completely drain my battery in a few weeks if the car is not used (and it does not have any aftermarket devices connected to it). Here is the battery tester I use ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kCNrfa8RUKU.html if you want to test your battery for capacity and health, it can also perform a parasitic draw test if needed. Cheers!

What amp fuses would you suggest to use with the hardwire kit that you have used in the demonstration? (I am using the same kit).
@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun Месяц назад
Hi Rocket! The Amp rating of the fuse for the hardwire kit is determined by the hardwire kit being used (some kits have higher Amp requirements and some have lower amp draw). Here is my follow up video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yky9_tTvwMc.html where I explain how hardwire kits work and the different features to look for. Cheers!

Hi P! Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the ivolt mini however I usually recommend sticking to the matching hardwire kit for the dash cam (specified by the brand) to ensure that there are no functional issues or issues with warranty coverage. Hi Denis! Some dash cams require a 3 wire hardwire kit and some use a 2 wire kit. I would recommend for the installer to refer to the instructions that came with your dash cam to confirm which is the right hardwire kit for it. And here is my follow up video where I explain the different hardwire kits out there, and what features to look for when buying one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yky9_tTvwMc.html Cheers!

@AlexAutoFun
@AlexAutoFun 3 месяца назад
Hi Kevin! When correctly hardwired the dash cam will turn off and off with the vehicle. I would have the installer check all the connections (ACC, BATT & GND) to confirm that they connected to the correct locations for ACC and BATT (I seen cases where the dash cam does not recognize the hardwire kit if ACC and BATT are reversed or connected to the incorrect locations that does not provide power at the correct time for both ACC and BATT) Here is my follow up detailed hardwire install if you want to see that process ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K2iKXj82354.html Cheers!

This will depend on your dash cam depending on what park modes it supports (they are different modes, I actually have a video in the works that explains each one in detail, stay tuned) and also on the park monitoring settings have been enabled, I would recommend checking with your installer, he can probably walk your thru how to setup a park mode that works best for you or you can also consult your owners manual for park monitoring details.
