Looking forward to hearing the professor's cello! The beautiful duet became a trio at our house - when the dog hears violin music he can't help joining in. Harmonies really set him off. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

I believe the Hebrew minute is Psalms 91:1. Thank you for the beautiful repair and restoration of my violin.

Psalm 91. How coincidental it is that you read this on your 191st episode, as we just sang it at church tonight. It is a very meaningful psalm to our family.

I did not even realize that it matched the episode! That is awesome. It is a wonderful Psalm. Thank you for sharing and have a blessed week!

I am so happy that you could repair her violin (emergency repair). I know how it is to have something happen to a fiddle when you need it most

Another busy week and the future repairs are lining up! The segment where you were playing with Nancy offered a good glimpse of 'the shop with a thousand drawers' your antique storage drawers are fabulous. The Professor's purfling 'clicked' into place perfectly - very nice, Sir! Stupidicus.

It's just as interesting to hear you explain all the technical considerations behind your repairs as it is to actually watch you do them. It was good to see you duetting with Nancy, and to see the professor putting in his last piece of purfling. As he said - it looked "purflect"! God bless you.

Sorry Cheryl - haven't watched this episode yet - but I just had to let Mr Pinch know we are clearing my mother's house, and lo and behold, she had the tiny organ tucked away. Wow. Had no idea she had it. You were spot on. It's a Mason and Hamlin, a traveling reed organ from the US. It was in pristine condition 60 years ago! Sadly in need of restoration now. It belonged to great-aunt Florence, who worked as an itinerant nurse and midwife.

If I were to use my grandmother’s tack hammer I would have a nervous breakdown for fear of denting the wood or cracking the purpling.

Surprisingly it doesn't damage the edges but if it did, we just use a little hot water and back in comes!!! Thank you for commenting and have a wonderful week!

May I ask what your thoughts would be on carbon fibre violins. My great niece is learning to play violin in Japan and the school provides all instruments.
@Violinsforu2
@Violinsforu2 Месяц назад
Carbon fiber bows are much sturdier than wooden bows but the tone is not as good. I prefer to stay with the pernambuco bows, but carbon fiber might be okay for a school setting. Thank you for asking and have a great week!
