Violinists can’t swing? Just do this to swing like a Jazz Violinist! 

Swing Rhythm came from the Trains. Before the 50's almost everybody took the Train. Fred Astaire remarks about this. George Gershwin came up with his themes for "Rhapsody in Blue" while riding the Train from New York to Boston. Gypsy Jazz is Peculiar because the Gypsy's travelled in Horse Drawn Caravans, and you can see all the guys rocking back and forth while they are playing, like they are sitting next to the driver and playing along with the Clip, Clop of the horses and the rocking of the Wagons. It's sort of half way between Stride and Swing. If you can take a ride on one of those old Locomotives from the 1880's that's Ragtime. The faster and smoother the Trains and the Tracks got, the more Even the Swing became, right up to Bebop, when the Interstate came into being, more people could afford Cars, and Musicians travelled to gigs that way and Trains became obsolete. You can even take this into the late 50's and 60' when Air travel became popular "Come Fly with Me". Prop driven Airplanes. And even "Smooth Jazz" when Jets took over. Smoooth.
