Vipassana Teacher Acharya S.N.Goenka's speech at Harvard Business Club to introduce the Vipassana meditation technique. In this video he answers the questions from the audience.
I am doing this meditation and it's working very well. It's strange at first to observe the sensation of your depression, of your anxiety. But I've tried and in some minutes the anxiety goes away, in some days the depression become weaker and weaker. It's so simple and it's working. I will continue meditate with this technique because it make me fell good.
Nobody can answer the question for anyone else, Abhishek. My experience has been and still is that sitting daily (for however long one feels so inclined) is good because it fills the void of one's unknowingness and provides a context for simply "beginning again" and breathing comfortably and consciously over and over.
@@vish206 hey bro did you went to a 10 day course bro?i did 2 courses till now and my life has changed forever man..u also surely go if you havent went yet...
Nice debunking of Transcendental Meditation (TM) around 9:50. No condemnation just a clear explanation why meditating on a word (fabricated) is fundamentally different from meditating using the natural breath.
There are 2 main ' themes of meditation. ' 1. Focusing on an external ,( samatha) 2 focusing on sensation here and now( of the body and / or mind) - vipassana Vipassana as taught by the Buddha is the latter ( theres much more to do before, and along with it , to attain goals explained by the Buddha.) Samatha often assist vipassana . But not essential .
Observing the externals such as words, idols, or even breath and sensations or bodily things lead to wisdom of anicca or impermanence- very important first step. But Ultimately even the breath and sensations and body are all eternal. Who is the I that observes everything? That is the only “internal” going within to look back at that self- the ego self that sees this world. And the realization becomes Annatta- no self. Which is enlightenment.
Oh, Thank God. That is very relieving to hear. It is very Good to hear. I feared that you were practicing simply after watching this video. I hope you progress a lot in meditation. I hope you go very far in this technique that one day you may be able to teach it to others.
Glad it is working for you. Still, have you Done a Course with Mr. Goenka? One is cautioned against practicing on one's own without guidance from a teacher regardless of how one might feel about the matter. Good that you are enthusiastic. Good that you have the motivation. But please reduce the risk to yourself by going for one 10 day course ASAP before practicing intensively.
