Just had my first mock class. 95% of my prep came from this video and I got flying colors. Thanks a billion dude!!! Don't see why I wouldn't get the job
I'm interested in teaching with VIPKID and came across your video to learn how to teach a mock class. Your energy and knowledge on how to effectively teach a mock class was very enjoyable to watch. I learned so much from this video. Keep up the good work!!!
You're about the smoothest, most articulate teacher I have ever seen! I have a mock scheduled for tomorrow, but I don't think I'll be half as precise and effective as you! Still, I'm very glad you posted these demonstrations because they are extremely helpful! You're very kind to take the time to help others the way you do! Thank you again! You're very special!
@@AngelaSilva I just signed my contract this past Sunday and began teaching on Tuesday! I also passed both mocks, 2/3 & 4/5.:) When I went to bed Monday night I didn't yet have any booked classes. I thought everything was going to be slow but I was awakened by my iPhone with Short Notice alarms going off! The alarms kept sounding until I ended up receiving 7 back to back SN bookings! I started feeling panicky but somehow I calmed down and taught 7 classes between 6am & 9:30am! It turned out to be a wonderful experience! Yesterday I received 3 sets of 5 apples and a promise from a parent to keep his son in my classes! This job has been the most rewarding and satisfying thing I have ever done in my life! :)
I went through training on the site and watched other mock training videos that were good but yours is excellent. I found it easy to follow and model. Thank you.
@@AngelaSilva Hi Ciera! How's VIPKID so far? I'm also reviewing this video for my mock class. I'm nervous and excited! I've made my teaching backdrop and bought the materials I need. Also, thank you Teacher Angela, for this video!
@@monicasyoutubechannel3225 I like it so far. It's just that I haven't been getting bookings lately because I'm still new and because of the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival stuff. Hopefully after it ends this week bookings will pick back up.
I am going through the process now. I already have a referral but I absolutely love your videos. They are so informative. The lady I signed up with hasn't been much help. I wish I could have given you the credit! Again Great Videos!!!!! Thank you so much, Angela.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I can now see that I was overthinking some of the slides...for example, the "ip" slide. I thought I also had to show/demonstrate some sort of visual representation of rip, hip, sip, and zip because I've been told to use more props and TPR. I was struggling with that slide. It's also good to know that I can use my own reward system. I also appreciate watching you do each slide. Now I also can see what I need to tweak.
I passed!! In large part thanks to your videos. So informative and helpful. I didn't even do a coaching session, and passed with flying colors. THANK YOU, Angela!
I did the Mock Class coaching last week but still felt anxious about scheduling my actual Mock Class. This video is amazing and you do an superb job of modeling what we need to do, and explaining the rational behind everything. I already have a referral coach but would still love to get your resources, if that's a possibility.
Thank you for your videos! I picked my referral too soon from another video as I thought it was helpful and it was but since then I have found others - for example yours that are more helpful!
You're welcome! They do highly recommend a headset. You can get away with something with a separate mic for a bit until you can afford to buy the headset with your earnings. But I did get mine from Target for only $20, it was worth it.
Angela, it is so helpful to see how you apply and demonstrate what you teach us. Let me ask you a question that pops up in quizzes to some of us when in the Certification process: "The phases of Learning" Most of us are aware that the student watches videos and read books previous to the "Class" but is there a listing of the sequencing of the learning tools for the student before and after class? In the quiz I was doubtful about which came first (after the class I believe) was it a video or a workbook? It was a multiple choice question. In some cases the labeling of the tool was indicative of the sequence (i.e. pre-class video) but there may be a site where "the phases of learning" is broken down into what the student uses and in what order "before and after" our class session.
Angela, Thank you for doing this video. I already added a referral, but they really have not helped. I think they should make it so the referral can be changed. I learned more from the mentor who did my first class than I did from the referral. I wish I had seen your mock A and mock B videos prior to doing the mock class.
It seems it would confuse the kids when you count the words they say along with them on your fingers, because it's the same gesture used for counting. Have you noticed any confusion with the kids on this?
Thank you for your great teaching videos. What light are you using? It is so even. I’m impressed because the lighting doesn’t seem to change as your hand gets closer to the camera. Is it the camera or the particular light? I’m assuming you are using a ring light but please let me know your set up. Thanks so much.
Hello, I am a bit confused. I have been told you have to ask FIRST "Who throws" during the P and A slides, to try to get them to answer, and if not help (P). But you never asked the student "Who throws?" So, should I or should I not ask the question???? So far, your video is great.
I just replied to your other comment, I am usually quick to reply to my emails so I’m trying to figure out how long ago you sent it and what address you sent it to. The company stopped sending me the information of who uses my code so unless they reach out to me there’s no way I can contact them. Please email me at thevipkidcoach@gmail.com
I am getting ready to do my Mock Class 1 and I just added your referral code to my account. I had scheduled the Mock Class coaching for this morning and when I tried to join it the class was locked. I am aware of the time difference (it is in Central Time and I am on Pacific time). I am getting a little bit lost in the system and could use some help. I am finding this interview process to be rather involved and complicated. I look forward to working with you.
Hi Angela! I passed my Mock for level 2/3 because of your videos! Thank you so much. I can't figure out how to enter your referral code though? Where can I find the spot on the VIPKid website? Also, should I schedule a mock class for level 4/5 also and try to get that certification before I sign my contract?
Yes, there is a reward slide at the beginning you can use throughout (or introduce one of your own to use throughout) and then the 5 stars at the top left. They can use the stars to buy things in an online shop, so be sure to give them :D
How in the world do we drag and drop figures in the slides and how do we get rid of the pen feature once we have used it. Neither of those two things ever work for me.
On the apply-verb slide you seem to give away the answer, correct me if I'm wrong. You're not supposed to say "She throws" until the student does the drag and drop, correct?
I love your videos! Thank you for making them. You say that we can't be fired after passing the interview. I've seen several videos of people who were not hired after failing their mock lesson. Can you please clarify this for me? Thanks! :)
@@racheldls8787 I've heard from another teacher who gives videos online as well. who said you get as many tries as possible for mock class, but for afterward you have to go through another and you get only 2 tries. I'm wondering and worried if that's correct.
I don't really mention it, I will sometimes point and say "I see a kite (or What do you see?). Today when you do a good job we will do X or you will get a Y."
Useful and concise video compared to some of the others out there. One annoying thing I'm seeing in all of these videos is how frequently they like to say, "I got this at Walmart (/Target/Party City/etc.)" under the assumption that we all live in America. There's no Walmart in Europe!
So should we in the US not get the info when available? Should she not share the information to those that can use it UNLESS she provides equivalent info all over the globe?
@@lulazeta8965 I think you should study grammar before becoming a teacher and souring the reputations of those of us who actually studied and have experience in this field.
@@bobruediger6755 Nothing wrong with the video which is great. It is your comment about you getting annoyed what is reflecting your personality. Grammar has nothing to do with your selfish nature. You'll will grow up in time. You will keep on "glorifying" yourself.
@@bobruediger6755 Get the idea not the typos. I don't spend time on correcting typos. This doesn't have anything to do with people like you. Go throw a fit somewhere else.
At 10:58 you mentioned tha the student should do the TPR also "throw". What if you model twice and they dont do it? Can you just move on or do you have another suggestion? Thank you.
I have a question! In a day will most of your classes be the same? How many props will you generally have to prepare weekly for a week's worth of classes?
Hi Gena, I can't insert your referral code on my account. I need your help. I'm in the system I'm afraid I might fail the class I am in the system Phyllis Wilson
