Wow! Thank your teacher Tina for your Clear Concise Creative Caring message. You always know just how to lay it out nicely. I appreciate your videos because they are easy to remember with your bullet points and alliteration’s. We definitely are two peas in a pod because I also use the coffee shop example when I speak to my referrals. Thanks again for an insightful video. I found your channel 2 years ago. I finally decided to start sharing on RU-vid what I’ve learned in my two years of teaching! Thanks for being a great role model! 🌸
Hugs to you, dear Kristy!! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed, kind message. I really appreciate your support! I look forward to watching your channel grow!
Thanks for watching!! What was YOUR BIGGEST TAKEAWAY from this video? OR, if you are an experienced VIPKid teacher...please, tell us WHAT YOU'VE LEARNED? I can't wait to hear what you have to say! 😁 Tina
Kristina Garcia Thanks for your videos. Is it true that VIPKID will be getting rid of its referral milestone program? If so, do they have another incentive program in place? Thanks.
@@ryanjhagen Thanks for being here! I imagine that we'll get more information about the upcoming incentive program soon (perhaps in a weekly update?). Stay tuned!
Thank you for the information. You hit the nail on the head when you said you were trying to piece together information. I've been reading and note-taking for months. I Will apply soon and use you for my referral. I just need to jump in and get started.
Hi, Tori! It's a pleasure to meet you! It's smart to do your research. I just know countless VIPKid teachers who wish they had consolidated that time a bit. They go on to love VIPKid and wish they'd taken the plunge sooner! I'm excited to hear that you'd like to work with me. Thanks so much! I'm delighted! When you decide to apply, simply use my link (bit.ly/ApplytoVIPKID) and I'll be able to help you! You're also welcome to contact me at TeacherTinaVIPKID@gmail.com. Thanks so much! I look forward to helping you be successful in VIPKid, Tori!
Teacher Tina is helpful. I'm in the process of reapplying and she has encouraged me very nicely. I am setting up my live demo for this Saturday in the afternoon. Thanks Tina
Hi Tina! I’ve been following you for your amazing tips and resources prior to and since being hired with VIPKid (a whole 2 weeks ago)! Thank you for sharing your experience so freely with all of us! I’m so glad you posted this video, for I was wanting to share a HUGE piece of advice for aspiring VIPKid teachers: Set up just very basic classroom elements before you teach your first class. Do not invest in creating/finding/buying tons of props, supplies and classroom furnishings until you have taught your first dozen classes or so. You will not have any idea of what you will need for specific lessons and learning levels or even what you will want to use to support your teaching style. Definitely don’t invest in expensive lighting or furniture until you see truly what your online teaching preferences/needs are. You will have a much clearer understanding of the VIPKid teaching platform, curriculum, your students and how you want your classroom to function AFTER you have taught a few classes. Best of luck and definitely reach out to the VIPKid teacher forums, of which there are plenty! Julie (aka “Teacher Mimi”❤️)
Hi, Teacher Mimi! Thanks so much for being here and for writing your kind and insightful comment! CONGRATULATIONS on getting hired!! That is a great point. There's no need to spend a fortune on a fancy setup as a new teacher (or ever, really!). What has been your favorite part about teaching so far?
Absolutely the kids are the best part! They are so eager to learn and to learn well! This quality in American students has certainly declined in the 40 years that I have been teaching kids. What a refreshing change for a career educator! Another “favorite part” about teaching is VIPKid’s is commitment to professional growth and development of their new and existing teachers. They provide dozens of high quality, pertinent workshops every week which are geared to every facet of ESL/online teaching imaginable! These workshops are of superb quality and led by VIPKid’s best mentor teachers (I keep looking for workshops by you, Tina, hint hint😊). I leave each workshop with tips and strategies for teaching and learning that I have implemented immediately. The workshops have definitely helped flatten my online/ESL teaching learning curve and have improved my effectiveness already! I received my first 5-Apple ratings - three of them👏👏👏 in my second week! I do attribute this to the increased skill and knowledge I gained from the workshops. Workshops are offered all through the day and evening so can easily fit into your teaching/work schedule. If you are already a VIPKid teacher, I highly encourage you to make time for your own professional growth. High 5, VIPKid for caring about your frontline with this resource! Thanks again, Tina, for all you do as well to share your expertise us. 🙏 You are a phenomenal resource of your own! To learning! “Teacher Mimi”
@@juliedavidson7260 Wow, Teacher Mimi!! Yet another thoughtful, insightful reply. Thank you so much! I, too, have gotten a lot out of the VIPKid workshops. It's funny that you not-so-subtly hinted at me being a workshop mentor. Some folks at HQ in Beijing were pretty persistent in asking me, too. I may entertain that idea at some point! For now, I enjoy having free reign of my referrals business...I lead "workshops" for them whenever I think they could use one! Thank you so much for being here and for encouraging other teachers with your valuable input, Teacher Mimi. You are awesome!! Another five apples for you! 🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎
I think community helps you get started and also stay for the long haul! On my fourth contract, and I love getting to share moments with my community and help support others, too. I love the coffee shop analogy. When you're an independent contractor you really care about your business at a whole different level than an employee does!
Hi, Lisa! Oh, how we love our community! Thank you for being such a wonderfully supportive teacher to others! It's so true--when we see ourselves as business owners, it is empowering and we are more motivated to do an excellent job! Thanks for being here 😘
I would have never survived without community! I would have given up before things got started because I didn’t have a mentor and was trying to figure out what to do! I found FB groups and other resources! I started about the same time you did!!
Right? Community is such a strong force for good in VIPKid. This job could feel very isolating without the amazing community. Thanks for being here, Linda!
Even your way of explanation is like we are your students XD that's so sweet and nice to us Thank you for sharing this information with us because it was extremely useful for newbies like me :) I got (as usual) a portion of positive vibes and, for sure, tons of information that are necessary! I do like your channel and your way of explanation tons of love and respect from a teacher of English from Kazakhstan ~^^
Hey, Molly! Nope-- the basic requirements are 1) bachelors degree [in anything], 2) legal eligibility to work in the US/Canada [but not California] and 3) Two years of teaching-related experience [babysitting, tutoring, coaching, teaching, homeschooling, etc.] What do you mean when you say you didn't get invited to apply?
@@mollylyda Hmm...I suggest that you try again. Clear your internet history, then use a new email address. If you'd like to be my referral, be sure to use my link! bit.ly/ApplytoVIPKID
