Really appreciate the listing uv filters, along with the functions of the ingredients on our skin. Very helpful. Just found this channel now, but subscribed.

I’ve tried a few of them (well not the US filters of the last one but I love the version from that brand with non US filters)and agree these are great choices. Also affordable!

The house of dohwa is the only one out of these i have not yet tried, but loved all the others especially the SKIN1004 one. Korean sunscreens are amazing. I also like the Haru haru, round lab, scinic and torriden sunscreens

I recently discovered Korean sunscreen/skincare and i am in love!! The question i have is are there any waterproof/resistant Korean sunscreen out there?? I have and use the Skin1004 and have used it at the beach weekly and it is for sure not water resistant, but i love it so much! I also have on the Beauty of Joseon Relief sun +rice probiotics today and love it as well.

I am dry and can’t find a moisturizing enough spf. BOJ original and Haruharu chemical (hyped as moisturizing) feel moist to begin with but dry my skin out upon multiple applications. I think this is due to decyl glucoside/similar which can be drying. Gloria at chemist confessions says BOJ is drying for her dry skin. I have heard Asian spf use decyl etc to offset sweat/oil associated the humidity of Asian climates so that checks out. Not for dry skin so far but I’m searching
@TeawithMD
@TeawithMD 12 дней назад
Interesting! I have combo skin and haven’t found the boj one to be drying. I do like the No7 spf moisturizers or the La Roche Posay toleriane double repair cream with spf for dry skin

Been using BOJ for the longest. Any mineral sunscreens for melasma that you recommend? Thanks
@TeawithMD
@TeawithMD 12 дней назад
For melasma I recommend using a tinted sunscreen because iron oxide helps to block visible light from the sun which worsens hyperpigmentation. If you prefer mineral sunscreens I have a big review of tinted mineral spfs coming soon

I'm really surprised you made that quip about "finally getting UV" in the PNW. Reports have shown that "Washington's rate of skin cancer has increased over the past decade, with new melanoma cases far outpacing the national average" (Axios). Just because there's little sunlight, doesn't mean that we aren't getting UV exposure. As someone who is also living in the PNW, I'm wearing sunscreen every day, regardless if it's visibly sunny.
@TeawithMD
@TeawithMD 13 дней назад
I also wear sunscreen everyday as I share in my content all the time; I meant this is a good time to talk about sunscreen in greater detail since there’s more interest
@FraBra88
@FraBra88 11 дней назад
Yes, and uv index doesn't really reflect on UVA damage, so it was a really faulty statement

Hold up. Are you… are you SKINSPLAINING to, not only a board-certified dermatologist, but Dr. Joyce Park? Gurlllllll, baby girl! Tell me you’re not serious…cuz.. I’m LAUGHING.
@FraBra88
@FraBra88 6 дней назад
@laurendemember8150 a faulty statement is a faulty statement, you can even be a Nobel winner, but if something is untrue, it can be damaging (we are talking about skin cancer here with sun exposure and the old myth that we need protection only in summer).

These korean sunscreens are awful. I have got tan and pigmentation with skin 1004 and beauty of joseon sunscreens. And that was because these sunscreens don't stay on combination skin! Please check the efficacy of sunscreens with uv lamp after hour of applying it on combination or oily skin and you will see that there is no protection any more. A have always used la roche posay and vichy european version sunscreens and never had tan or pigmentation.
@TeawithMD
@TeawithMD 13 дней назад
I’m sorry you had a bad experience with Korean sunscreens but I’ve never experienced any tan or pigmentation. The UV lamp only measures UVA and not uvb so it’s also not a completely accurate reflection and it’s also more of a check to see where you applied it rather than efficacy. All sunscreens go through a testing process for safety stability and efficacy in order to be sold. I like La Roche and Vichy as well but no reason to hate on Korean sunscreens when you only have anecdotal evidence
@alena7393
@alena7393 12 дней назад
@@TeawithMD ,my experience is not anecdotal, a lot of people have the same experience with korean sunscreens too and also my husband does. And the fact that they are tested right after applying doesn't mean that after an hour there will be the same protection as they don't stay on combination skin. And uv lamp would be helpful with revealing that there is not spf coverage any more.

These Korean sunscreens don’t work well in the summertime and none of these are waterproof. I heard this from Dr. Dray too, stick with waterproof for the summer. I use La Roche Posay and Avene waterproof sunscreens during the humid hot summer heat, it stays in place through workouts and sweaty wipe downs. I save my Korean sunscreens for the rest of the year because it works well under makeup.
@alena7393
@alena7393 12 дней назад
@@sewitseams5632, now I am doing exactly the same, but using european vichy and la roche posay in the summer.

Maybe your skin is more on the oily side and needs a sunscreen that better suits that? A lot of mineral sunscreens are better for that because of the zinc oxide being drying. While I'm pregnant and only using mineral sunscreens, I find that the mineral version of the Haruharu wonder sunscreen is good for this. Any of them that say they're good for oily skin should do the trick. Don't forget you should reapply every 2-3 hours due to sweating or after being in the water!

You all have failed to show a really matte sunscoop for extremely oily skin. All of you show all the oily sunscreens. Shame

Not sure you’ve ever seen any of my other content but I have recommended mattifying sunscreens and sticks in the past.
