Not only is he strong and fast, he seems to always know when he can take a touch, when to pass back to the keeper or just hoof it. His reading of the game is ridiculous.
This is unfair. It just feels like when we were little kids and thought we could ball, but when played against our huge big brothers and friends, no matter how much skills and speed you thought you had, they always out muscled you and you just couldn't do anything cos of the unmatched strength. 😀
Ive seen him get outpaced once and that was against sane in preseason however vvd had a standing start where as sane was already on the move. Apart from that, the man is an absolute colossus.
@@ardakz4867 But no end product. His pace and strength is incredible. Dribbling ok. Passing, shooting...? Very poor. Stats alone never give a full picture - too many other variables at work.
Van Dijk is like a turbo car, just cruising in 4th or 5th and then all of a sudden, he drops it back to 3rd gear and boosts with that burst of speed. I dont know many players that can do that, specially defenders.
Christiano Ronaldo in his young days can do that with his dribbling. He starts off with full pace, leading to dribbles that slow him down, then a sudden burst of pace and a change of direction to catch defenders off guard. He still does this, but since he is older and prioritizes strength and skill over speed and dribbling, he doesn't use this often. Ronaldo Nazario does do this too. Yet he slows down a bit and then does a dribbling skill to get past his opponent and then changes pace. This results in a good attack which he leads.
@@rodrigoespinosavelasco3331 no, i dont feel like he is at his absolute best, like he was before the injury. Still the best defender in the world atm, but he has the potential to go few levels higher
And? Messi and Ronaldo have played great in certain matches but their team ended up losing anyway? It's a team sport mate, one man can only do so much🤔 And i dont even support liverpool
They probably give higher priority to acceleration, which a lot of the forwards have in abundance. It would make sense too, since for most of the match, players either jog or do shot sprints more than running at top speed. Plus, it would be unfair as a lot of defences would be nigh-on impossible to penetrate even with the best forwards. As advanced as modern sports games are, there are still tiny things like that in real life that just can't be accurately replicated in a digital game yet.
0:07 Have you ever seen that the role of a defender tracking back is so huge that a player from the counter-attacking team tried to pull him/bring him down? 😅
Big guy makes defending look soo easy. Special player. As a ManUtd fan I'd love to see him someday here at United. We have lost hope in our defence for last few years as it's been led by Harry The Clown Maguire. 😣
You didn't show Liverpool FC vs Tottenham match on 31/3/19, when Van Dijk's have to Against 2 Tottenham player moving towards Liverpool from 40 to 15 meter, How Steady n Cool Van Djik's harder it. Super Intelligent Defender n Definitely Best Defender of the World. 😉😃👏✌💪
The difference between an elite CB vs a good CB is that an elite CB will always know when to clear the ball versus keeping it in play. Most mistakes are made due to the failure of clearing the ball. Van Dijk has a lot of speed, strength, and IQ, but knows his limits. That is why you see him clear the ball a lot.
If you look at Maguire he always dives in or steps out at the wrong time and leaves a huge hole in the defense. Knowing what to do at the wright time is essential for a defender. Van dijk has it all. Maguire is literally a laughing stock in the world of football.
