The Best CB of all time in all Eras. at his Peak he had it all. Hes smashed every great player in era. Ronaldo, Messi, Haaland, Mbappe etc all couldnt pass him on 1 v 1s.

People don't realise hiw great VVD is .. to be able to defend that well in a high press team that have their back exposed all the time and still come off on top .. all due respect to Maldini he was one of the best in the business and all that but no defender come close to the 2019 version of VVD. He is what everyone would imagine a complete defender is.
Just cause he didn't tackle the ball doesn't he didn't do well. He stayed calm and forced him to the outside. That is all a defender needs to do. He put Haaland very off balance, it wasn't Haaland squandering the chance. It is incredibly hard to do when a player of any kind is running at you that fast. That is why he is the best defender in the world.
