Wow! This Virgin Atlantic Livery is Excellent. The Old one used to look very horrible. I'm Sad that these 747-400 Passenger Fleet are Retired from all the Airline Companies exept Lufthansa which is Still Operating the 747-8i. The Metallic Red Livery on the Engines look very shiny & give the Credit to the 747-400!

Thank you all for you kind comments. Some information for you... it took 15 days, using 4 fixed camera points. We also mixed in some HD footage for some of the closer shots. I forget what the music is called sorry. We also have a video for the Air Livery company on our website.

It's sad that these 747s are being retired from Virgin Atlantic's fleet. I feel like I'm running out of chances to ride on one. Lufthansa and British Airways are my only options now. Rest in Peace, VA 747s. You won't be forgotten.

I remember few years ago when Virgin Atlantic was changed and redesign from current original regular livery like with red and blue on fuselage and tail on to new livery where we are right now, before I don't like the new livery and now I am thinking, start to really like that design I really love it right now.. :-D

This may sound a bit weird but I prefer the older livery on the 747, I don't think the newer one suits it, the newer one should only be on the B787 and the A330, I think the A340 should also keep the old one..

I think it's due to the Reflection of the Light. I Also Loved that Red on Jet Engines. Sad to See them retired. Lufthansa 747 & Cargo Planes are only Option to See in front of my eyes.

Goku - No wonder! I was trying to track her and couldn’t find anything on it. Sad that The Queen is becoming a rarity these days. I’m from Oahu, Hawaii and as a child, I recall HNL was almost a haven for 747’s. Now the only pax 74 we get is KAL 748i’s once a week. All the rest are double engines like 73’s and 76’s. Although, there ARE more 777’s coming here. Recently, DL began using their 772’s to fly here from MSP and ATL. We’re also seeing more 788’s and 789’s.

Just painted right over the old paint job. How much do you think a 747-400 paint job weighs? Now multiply that by two for the previous paint scheme and the new one over it. Now multiply that weight by the fuel it takes to fly it and the years the plane is in service. I wonder when the break even point is... if ever.

Thanks for your comment, much appreciated. For reference they stripped off all the paint off the plane. The blue substance applied around the 30 second mark is paint stripper. All planes are professionally and independently weighed before the planes leave the hanger. Hope this helps.

In the 1990s, Virgin Atlantic jets were painted with "No Way BA/AA" in opposition to the attempted merger between British Airways and American Airlines.[
