Give that pilot a medal! such smooth soft landing without power is simply amazing.

Its so cool to me, not the commercial part - that was inevitable, but that there is no fly by wire, no autopilot, entirely hand flown with, of course help from the RCS, but direct linkages to control surfaces. The spaceplane is flying mach 2.5 but its air speed is probably only around 300 miles per hour. Super cool stuff

@justweird375 because it doesn't matter if it's commercial or not. I feel like this application only really constitutes commercial use instead of scientific because you can essentially get the same amount of time in the vomit comet for substantially cheaper, it's just for the view. It is still cool that it's commercial spaceflight, but not as cool as the fact that it uses actual linkages to operate the control surfaces.

Very sorry they didn’t make it to space. Space begins at the Kármán Line. 62 miles up (330,000 feet, 100 kilometres). I hope next time, or soon….for them to make it to space. But at least it was a wild ride for them.

2 weeks since we lost 5 'deep-ocean tourists'. No need to look at any of this with a sense of irony and skepticism. What could possibly go wrong? And Virgin ''Galactic''... .hubris much?

Is it me or some of you notice that you can't see the curvature of the Earth
@robertwilliamson922
@robertwilliamson922 Год назад
It’s the type of lens on the camera. You can actually see the start of the curvature of the Earth on high flying commercial airline fights. I’ve flown between North America and Asia a few times. Including across the Arctic Ocean right by the Geographical North Pole.
@danzstuff
@danzstuff Год назад
they're not high enough to see the curvature
@robertwilliamson922
@robertwilliamson922 Год назад
@@danzstuff Oh yes they are. The curvature of the earth is slightly visible at airliner altitudes but quite clearly visible from 10,000 feet higher. At 51,000 feet, the highest ceiling of any production airplane, it’s quite easy to see, especially if you’re in the pilot’s seat and are afforded a field of view of 300 degrees or so. I could see the curvature from 41,000 feet up. These guys went many times higher than that. Of course they could see the curvature of the Earth.

Um, the atmosphere filters out sunlight,which is why you can see stars,At the altitude they went,the atmosphere isn't thick,and raw sunlight stops the stars being visible...grow up
