We enjoyed our first Virgin Voyage a few weeks ago. The food was definitely amazing and the multiple options for how you can choose to dine was perfect for us. It will be difficult to go back to the offerings from other lines. Also AMAZING--Virgin just gifted us - and other sailers- with a $300 bar tab for our fall booking.

Oh, shoot. I have a scent sensitivity and get coughing, wheezing, and headaches. I wish I could use them or smell them, but dang, have this issue. Please don’t wear the scent in theaters. 😁

I've cruised on the Scarlet Lady twice and the food & service are impeccable. I've yet to have a bad meal on this ship.

We did back to back cruises on the Scarlet Lady from 8/5 to 8/15 and watched your videos before we left. Without question the food was a highlight. Everyone has different tastes so opinions are just that. Some of the food has changed since you were there as should be expected. I was not expecting Razzle Dazzle to be as good as it was. I was not as impressed at dinner as I was at breakfast. We ordered the frittata twice and they were completely different. One was light and fluffy which my wife loved. The other well done and firm which I prefer. Both were extremely delicious. The wake was a disappointment and I love steak. The fish on the other hand was fantastic. All of the restaurants are top notch. All of the dishes are not but again your taste may be different. There were only a few dishes at the galley worth getting because most are premade. Things that need to be made to order seemed to be better as long as you season them. My favorite food was in the dock house and on the dock at the back of the ship. The Tapas were the bomb. I probably had 5 meals of hanger steak, chicken thigh and shrimp skewers. The one thing I must say is the friendliness, service and caring of the crew in every place we were was amazing. In talking to them they were very happy working there compared to the other cruise lines they worked for. The other thing about this cruise is that it was relaxing. I normally prefer lots of activities but this was such a fantastic cruise that I enjoyed the relaxing nature of the cruise more than anything.

Yes. This was a foodie dream. Loved it. Wish had more time and a bigger stomach to enjoy more of the options available.

Wow the presentation of the food on Virgin is really top-notch. To me it reminds me of how Crusing used to serve foods 30 years ago. They had some very nice presentations of their food back in the day of our first cruising. Now it’s kind of all standard looking. But I wouldn’t mind trying anything of what you had there just to see what it taste like. Nice video thank you Tony

OMGGGGG, Tony - that fooood!!! Everything looked and sounded fabulous and, believe it or not, I was thinking the duck tacos would be your pick and wah lah!! Them caramel chocolate dessert tacos looked like the bomb also!! Got me also wanting to go on a Virgin cruise just for the food like some others commented!! As usual, great video, content and narration - thank you for sharing!!

Would love to see one of these videos on cocktails. IMHO… Carnival and Royal Caribbean’s cocktails are all made w/ the corn syrup cartons- ALL too artificially sweet but the winner for me is Norwegian Cruise Line. MUCH better quality craft cocktails. I’ll volunteer my services to try them all! 🙋🏼‍♀️

My favorite bite was the shrimp at the Dock House. My favorite meal was the upcharge meal at Pink Agave the Pescado Zarandeado - Achiote halibut, lobster, grilled prawns and bay scallops!

LOL We're heading back on Scarlet this summer to do the 5nt Dominican Daze. And I'm absolutely heading back to Razzle Dazzle for that bacon because it was amazing! We took this same Cruise on Scarlet Lady just last week and it was amazing!! The food was amazing and if you did not like something there was always something else to eat all the time, It was great that you could order more then 1 entree. The Cabin were so sleek and modern and the staff was wonderful. I was very fortunate to be selected to invited to a private invite that is very discreet and only a few passenger got the invite but it was amazing. So hopefully someone has that same experience.

You did such a great job on this review, I've watched it twice. I'll be VV this month and am excited to try the alternate dining. The duck tacos looked really good. I'll definitely go for the bacon in the Wake.

My favorite dinner on the Discovery was the Beef Wellington that showed up at the buffet other next to the last night of the cruise.

We so agree with you! That bacon, wow! Next time, try the Test Kitchen. Much better than any Chef’s Table that we’ve done and, of course, Included! Also, Gunbae is delicious and so much fun! Thanks for this review. Hope to see you on Virgin, maybe the transatlantic next April.

At the WAKE we had the Lamb Chops is the BOMB... Also you can get the meatballs as part of room service.. Chix soup Room service was excellent also.

Before this cruise what cruise line would you say had the best food?

The two times I when on virgin its was the best food I've had. And I Love their food concept its amazing. There are over 20+ eateries and the food is so good that pizza literarily is an after thought.

Tony, did you go to the Korean BBQ place Gunbae? We loved it in December for my birthday. My favorite dessert was the Affogato with the chocolate gelato in the Italian restaurant. We had a blast onboard!

Going in October of 2024 for my 40th birthday! My wife and I can't wait! We're big foodies!

Best bites for me - the bacon at Razzle Dazzle; the watermelon slice topped with tofu cream, berries, and granola; and the Mexican Street Corn at Pink Agave - but honestly EAT EVERYTHING!

Those duck tacos have me salivating! To be paired with the street corn and shrimp had to be divine. Love to know how to make the candied bacon, too. That said, it looked like every eatery beyond Agave also put out great dishes, but most were plated badly (esp that mushroom tartare)! FWIW, as with people, first impressions matter, and it all happens in 2 seconds!

The good old days returned, almost! When all the food was included in your fare. Honestly never thought that specialty restaurant's would never work, but yet they did to some degree. My thoughts were that if you offer speciality restaurants the only way to work, make the previously already good MDR not as good. And that is what has happened through the years. I am happy to see one cruise line returning most of the food options being included.

Oh yes I agree. I loved the Steak in the Mexican. Better than the Wake. Also loved Italian and Korean BBQ. Ummmm good. Did you try the Pizza? It is soooo good.

I cruised on Valiant Lady earlier this year, and it was EASILY the best cruise food I've ever eaten, except in the 'not a buffet' buffet - I found that pretty mediocre. The food at the Wake steak restaurant was absolutely remarkable!

Tony, you're making me hungry! WIth two kids in tow, I won't be able to go on a Virgin Voyages cruise for some time. It looks like the blistered beans that you showed were Shishito Peppers. Interesting note about those: one out of every ten has some kick. Get some sesame oil and find a bag or package of Shishito Peppers, coat them in sesame oil and put them on a grill or in a pan to get some color. Take them out and sprinkle them with sea salt and have at them. They make a fantastic snack!

VV food is the best! Tony, if you liked the glazed bacon, go to First Watch. They have Million Dollar Bacon which is the same thing. So good!

There’s a few restaurants that make bacon like that in my area and i agree it’s the best. I think it’s known sometimes as, “millionaire’s bacon” if you want to give making it at home a try 😊 all the food looks so yummy, especially the island spread!

Did a Virgin Valiant Lady cruise earlier this year. Main restaurants great. The Galley food was truly awful. Hot food served cold in the middle, if you actually got what you ordered in the first place. Never again.

Love bacon.. we have been on two carvinal cruises in the last two months.. bacon was rare.. Carnival's breakfast buffet has been really lack luster lately.

Yes. I am a foodie. I want to go on all the Virgin ships just to eat. I ate off the vegetarian menu most of the cruise. The Test Kitchen vegan track was amazing. All the meat eaters wanted what I had because of the presentation. The social club was good too. I was 'naughty" and had their buffalo wings.

Where was the "flabby English bacon"? Anyway thank you Tony. We will have to put Virgin on the short list.

Hate to be that guy, but for us the food was underwhelming compared to all the hype it receives in videos like these. I agree that the presentation was usually excellent, but the preparation and flavor was not always the best. The Gallery (quick service buffet replacement area) was a hot mess, from sitting down to getting the food took 30-45 minutes. Lunch options were pretty minimal and got repetitive around the ship, we ended the cruise with just grabbing some sushi and heading to the sun club cafe. Gunbae was meh, it's this ships replacement of a teppanyaki restaurant. You go for the show not the food. Razzle Dazzle was meh. Pink Agave was decent Mexican fusion. The test kitchen had hits and misses. Our favorites were the wake (stay away from steaks), Extra Virgin and the Dock House. We would put VV food above NCL, Carnival and Royal but slightly under Celebrity. Of course, lines like Oceania, RSSC and Seabourn are much better and the ones you want to book to have really good food at sea.

You lost me on Razzle Dazzle…….the food looked ordinary / awful! (The mushroom tartare = looked (sadly) like a toilet bowl after a hard night!😣😣😣) You won me with the duck!😎😎😎

Just heard you mention your review for Virgin on your live 5/21. My son and I will take our first Virgin cruise this fall from Southampton. I was loyal DCL for 2 years but I’m done with children so Virgin and Celebrity cruises scheduled. I appreciate your reviews as it’s helpful to know the differences between the lines.
