I'm from there, my family lives there, and I'm back there almost every weekend (currently living in Richmond). I'm a local musician and often times play music at Colonial Beach Brewery and The Icehouse.

I went to Colonial Beach as a kid, but the beach was absolutely COVERD in jellyfish and it kind of terrorized me as a child. But seeing it with fresh eyes in this video, I might try braving it again!

@@edenfaudree9224 ok! Yes! I was talking to my friend who grew up near there and he said the jellyfish only come out late July. He says it’s pretty safe before that. There were jellyfish but we didn’t get stung luckily!

I have great memories of the Colonial Beach area when my daughter was young. August isn't a good time to go, though, because of jellyfish. I enjoy your videos. It's great to see these things through your eyes.

We have been to Colonial Beach with our family and friends who live in and around DC. It's our go to spot for a beach that's close to us. Virginia beach is 4 hours away. We love it. Lauren, do have any plans to visit DC and south of it in Virginia? We agree Scotland has great vibe we enjoy. And like you we drink decaf. coffee and you're not boring at all. We love you guys 💚💚 from Jim and Harriet Richmond, Va.

I love your channel. You are so friendly and give me so many ideas of places in VA that I'd never know about! I look around for ideas online all the time and yet still miss stuff. And yes, that Waterloo seltzer truly is delicious! I appreciate how you give all the miniscule details that can make travel "scary" and that you are HONEST when something isn't quite great --- it lets me trust you when you say something IS great. Not everything can be awesome all the time! I do wish that somehow you could incorporate non-vegan restaurants in your reviews...but that's not really possible since you are vegan. Can't have you eat meat just to give a review! LOL Oh, and it'd be great to hear more history of each place that you go to ---- love history! Thank you for all of the work you do to inform and entertain us!

If you want some fun trivia, all of the piers are in Maryland because Maryland controls the entire Potomac up to the VA shore; the border between the states isn't down the middle of the river. This is also why VA can't get more bridges built across the Potomac in the DMV - Maryland doesn't want them.

Never been to Colonial Beach and it looked great! I live on the Chesapeake Bay and it is different but similar in many ways since I'm not on the ocean. Very cute town though. I think that any beach is great if you do not have to drive to the ocean and deal with the traffic, Were there any jellyfish? You should visit Chincoteague and Assateague on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I think that you might like that.

@@LaurenZRay Its very pretty during the fall especially when the leaves start to change colors. I also recommend for you go to Dockside seafood restaurant, drive to Westmoreland State Park where you can actually cliffs adjacent to the Potomac River and Caledon State Park in King George County!

@@LaurenZRay You’re welcome! Afton mountain outside Waynesboro has a former railroad tunnel that you can walk inside. It’s amazing! Bring a coat too it can get chilly in the tunnel lol. The Tyler potterfield bridge across the James River in Richmond is awesome too!
