I've been to Hokieland for football games. Absolutely exhilarating. You can't help but jump when those first Metallica chords start blasting. It's wild, loud and crazy! My daughter is an 2018 grad. I miss those days!
Nobody’s gonna talk about the engineering masterpiece that is the stadium. Tens of thousands of fans jumping around at the same time and the stadium is able to withstand that force lol Edit: idk why this has so many likes and idk why y’all are commenting like I give a fuck 🤣
I’m an Oklahoma state grad and I’ve been to numerous games around the country. Washington, Maryland, Oregon, Boise state, Wyoming, Florida, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Oklahoma state just to name a few but nothing and I mean nothing was impressive as the start of the Virginia tech game. The most amazing pre game ritual i have ever experienced. I still get goosebumps about it when sandman comes on the radio.
@hello I'm coping? You're the one who wrote a long ass thing and started dck measuring because of my simple comment. Let it go man it ain't that serious 😭
My daughter got to be a part of this. She's a freshan in the marching band. What an introduction to the big college atmosphere.. Knocking off a Top 10 conference rival? Dang!
That must have been such an amazing experience. I think this video sums up so much positive things about American culture and I say this as a person watching from Ireland. All the best to your daughter!
I’ve been to a lot of really good Tech Games, but fan wise, that was the craziest one. 45 minutes before the game started it was already going crazy!!!!
We don't really get any coverage of NFL in Ireland so I have never watched a game before, but this alone has got me searching for links to watch! What an entrance!!!
I remember in 2000 when this first started in the lightning bowl against GT. 2003 was INSANE against Miami. Some heartbreaks but many more great memories like this one
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 you're not wrong lol. There are places where they have an entire stadium singing 10 minute long songs with smoke and flares. This is just a bunch of yt kids jumping up and down for 1 minute
I WAS THERE!!! HOLY HECK. This was my first game at VT (I am an international grad student here) and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. I jumped and danced so much that day even though I know nothing about American Football :P (I was explained the rules by my friend during the game)
I was expecting fireworks and craziness. Nope, just a MASSIVE CROWD BOUNCING TO THE TRIBAL SOUNDS OF ENTER SANDMAN!!! That was incredible. You can feel yourself being there through the screen. And the coach of the other team looking super uncomfortable was priceless too
The other coach actually brought his team out so they could experience enter sandman. That may not have been a good idea- his team was projected to go undefeated but lost badly that day.
Hokie here! i was at the UNC game, and it was honestly the best experience i’ve ever had, and i’m not even into football. Lane Stadium and the sense of community it brings is honestly one of the greatest things about VT
This was the first game after everyone was pent up due to Covid. The crowd was ecstatic to be at a live game! And there was a full stadium “Rocking the House! To this great Metallica classic song! ❤
I remember one of the games i went to was VT vs NC and it was tied so they went to overtime, they had 6 overtimes one more would've tied lsu vs a&m which was also a great game to go in person
I hope to make it there. I did the jump around at the Wisconsin game. I have sung Mr. Brightside at Michigan. Now i need this, and a white out game at Penn State.
Honestly, it’s insane how big sports are in the US. Here in the UK you barely get professional football (soccer) games that look this crowded and full of life.. It must be a trip playing in front of all those people..
@@LomuHabana Nah. Even Anfield famed for its "Magestic atmosphere" dies out after the first 10 mins and comes back for the last 5 mins. If you want a good example of lively crowds, go to Eastern Europe, and even then violence doesnt necessarily make a good crowd.
@@Steven-uk2fz I didn’t say Anfield is great, I said most English football games have better atmosphere than this. But I would say also in Western Europe, you Have great atmosphere. You just have to go to a club which isn’t as corrupted by money as the big teams/leagues. Lower tier club in Germany (like Dynamo Dresden, Fortuna Düsseldorf and Chemnitz) have great fans and fill quite big stadiums without having to be extraordinarily successful. Some exceptions in the Bundesliga as well (Frankfurt and Köln are the best examples). In England you have Millwall which are quite fanatic, as well as clubs like Bolton Wanderers. Sadly the English concept of commerce is destroying the culture for most bigger clubs, even in the Championship (2tier). And of course you have clubs from smaller countries like the Scandinavians, however they do not have that large crowds, usually.
This is awesome. But also I've been to a few Tennessee Vols games! The running Thur the opening T is great as well with Rocky Top playing with almost 100,000 fans yelling.
This was from Labor Day weekend a few days ago. Tech requires vaccination of all student and staff (a small percentage don’t but require weekly testing) so they’re more relaxed on COVID restrictions.
I officially switched from the NFL to college football. They play for the passion of the game unlike the overpaid, "spit in Amercan's faces", spoiled NFL brats we have now. College football..... is what America needs

dude rushing the field after that game was the best feeling in the world… too bad we couldn’t keep up the momentum from this game for the rest of the season
