Virginia is a place where history is everywhere. The state was home to four of the five first presidents, buried at Mount Vernon and Monticello, two of the top tourist attractions. Virginia is home to some of America's most fascinating historical tourist attractions. It was the first state to be established in 1607. Later, it played an important role in the Revolutionary War, the American Civil War, and the Civil Rights movement. There are many monuments, memorials, and museums everywhere. Many great places including Williamsburg and Charlottesville, have a rich colonial history.
The state also boasts stunning scenery. For example, the majestic Appalachian Mountains in the west. The Atlantic Ocean coastline boasts beautiful beaches and vibrant resort towns.
Virginia is also rich in outdoor activities, and the Shenandoah National Park is just one of the many highlights. While summertime is a great time to visit the golden beaches and long sandy beaches.
