After 11 years I upgraded from Warthog by thurstmaster to complete Virpal Hotas and will expand with the collective and 64D grip!! Yes this is on the road map, too, lmao!! Sadly I get motion sickness with vr, so sadly no!!
Great devices but my favourite Virpil panel is the VPC SharKa-50 Control Panel. I use it in MSFS and the 4 axis levers cover 1, 2 & 4 engine aircraft well enough and the ability to customise the selector switch with modifier for the encoders is a great way to switch between AP modes and change values. Love this unit.
There is a VERY advantageous possibility which wasn't mentioned here and deserves to be pointed out: Virpil's peripherals allow for 'pass through' functionality. If owning their throttle, HERE is where the real magic comes in... The throttle console offers a five-way mode selection dial. This allows for the six buttons it has (along with any other controls on it, if desired) are multiplied by five. It effectively lets you switch between five 'pages' of controls, meaning you get access to not just six buttons, but thirty. However, if you connect another of their peripherals to the throttle? That mode selector would also act as a five-step shift control for THAT device, too! You connect this to the throttle? Every switch, lever and button on THIS also multiplies by five (or as many/few as the user defines). It's a force multiplier! You haven't just bought one panel, you have five virtual ones! So, say we decide to put the dial switch to position one for anything to do with take-offs and landings. You could have those flip-up switches dictate the engines turning on/off. Or have this lever (or the throttle's own) dictate landing gear. But you switch the dial to other positions, when you're flying around? Well, we won't need landing gear commands. So, you can tell those flip-up switches to be in control of jettison for fuel tanks or the levers to dictate thrust vectoring angle or a degree of wing sweep. If you have VR, this offers obvious massive advantages. You have to remember, by touch, which mode you've put the switch in, but that could always be augmented with gluing something for each selected position. If you don't? You can instruct the software to have the buttons light up in a large array of different colours. Switch it over to one mode or another and it will go to whichever colour you want, allowing for an at-a-glance reminder of which mode it is. The same colour schemes can be applied to this panel's LEDs, to make one huge console which has a uniform lighting scheme. This also applies to any other control panel or flight stick of Virpils which is connected to the throttle. The software may allow any button on all devices to act as shift switches, I honestly don't know. But a five-way one dial clearly offers some astounding possibilities.
I have this unit switches are top quality. I have set up my LED's to change colour when say the Landing gear is deployed they will change from Green to Red etc. Top quality product well worth the Bucks. My Delivery was quick maybe because I brought ti when it was first released.
@G-LOC MEDIA mine was pre order and came out with the first batch. Be advised because we are no longer in the EU they will slap a Customs charge on top so best factor thus in.
I just got the Alpha Prime with an extension with the CM3 base and really like it. There was a flash sale last week on the CM3 throttle, which was 10% off and free delivery, saves about £70, so that will be me done for now. Later I’ll get a collective, probably with a left prime and the new Warbird D for Star Citizen, and maybe one of these. All adds up though, but will last for years.
The fact that they build to order & then send quality Item is something, I personally like. Pay more for something that will last 10 years imo Is a concept we are luck to get in the ''High End Flight sim'' for the last 8 years. But I'll agree the average buyer is so impulsive now a day that might trigger their ocd. I personally own the Original CM2 throttle & the Collective & they look & work like they did out of the box 6 years ago
A petty thing but I wish the landing gear matched the Flap slider on the Virpil throttle unit. That white round thing taints the panel in my opinion. Again a small critique as I am a huge Virpil fan.
These momentary switches imo makes no sense. Making some 2-position and some 3-position switches would make this device more usefull (as most of the ingame switches work that way). Right now the only thing that seems usefull is that landing gear and maybe knobs with push function.
So Far I have had to Wait 1 or 2 Months for a order to be delivered. I have had 4 orders. My last one came just a week ago it was ordered in march and just came last week. I have Panel 1 and I keep thinking Panel 2 would be good to have. I can't figure out if I am addicted and want it or if I need it and can use it ...??????? thinking about it.
Never knew that bit of kit existed....now I can’t un-see it ! No reason to buy it at the moment, who knows what the future holds. I wonder if they will update it to have the buttons as configurable displays? That would make it totally perfect .
@@doifeellucky I mean have buttons like the streamdeck whereby you can change the button design through software. I imagine that would have A) complicated the design B) taken the cost beyond being practical dor a rather niche product.
Price is a bit steep so it'll be when I get the money lol. Garden sucking up my funds currently but as soon as it's established back to the cockpit lmao
