43:19 I've had a MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle for about a year now, and that slider makes a great zoom control -- it's _always_ right there under your fingertip where you want it! Slide forward to zoom in, and slide back to zoom out. Nice!
Hi! I’m thinking of getting the T-50CM3 and I’m wondering if that slider has a tactile response to put it in the center? Like is it easy to know when it’s centered? I really like to have my zoom setting centered when i’m flying normally, for immersion (my head is where it’s supposed to be).
I picked Virpil because I fly the Flanker mostly. Was one of the best choices I've ever fumbled. One of the thumb buttons on the left, sticks if I press it off center sometimes. Flying the Mossie in DCS, so far is the only aircraft I have, that makes me use all the buttons. I want to play DCS now just so I can use my Virpil setup.
My Virpil Controls setup is being delivered today! I ordered the parts to make HOTAS and HOSAS. I was thinking about getting those Monster desk mounts but I ended up choosing the ones from Virpil. I ordered from the US store and my wait was 1 month and 1 day until delivery. Thanks for you videos about Virpil. I've watched them all multiple times over the past couple of months.
if he still checks comments and if Virpil watches this. This man's (never heard him say his name) videos should be what Virpil references for the tutorial. If not for this mans video series i would not have been able to get my controls set up correctly with then tension i like. (my wife is the handy man not me. may hands are to damn big.) the only thing i ordered mine in early 2024 and Virpil had no tools in any box so they may have stopped adding those. thankfully My wife had an allen wrench set and a couple of small wrenches. other wise the controls are awesome
I love my Virpil T-50 Mongoos stick on the WarBRD base, with my ACE interceptor pedals. I can't wait to get that throttle, and fully retire the warthog hotas..
As an Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen player, I found these throttle units to be very immersive, but not as efficient as having a dual stick setup or a gaming keypad because they force you to look away at what buttons and toggles you're using opposed to no-look operation of a stick or keypad... That becomes a big deal in the heat of battles...
If you're a multi-module DCS flyer like I am, between helos and jets (and even the Warthog) I use the top switch to activate a shift states to enable the engine-off -> engine-start/idle buttons and then control thrust from 0->100 for the rest of the physical range. I found the Cosmosim afterburner detetent (when pushed as far forward as possible) is physically in the exact right spot for the F-15C, F/A-18, and F-16 afterburners. Without the shift state, none of this is there and is appropriate as a helicopter collective. I let the shift state change the color of the LEDs so I can look at the CM3 throttle (not just the switch) and know it's configured for jets or helo. I use the mode dial not as shift states, but as DCS modifiers (regular buttons). So I have a lot of left panel things, or maybe common things, on that throttle. While I don't use shift states, I let the mode dial change the color of the LEDs as well so I know it's not on the default (causes confusion in DCS when you wonder why a button isn't working).
Just for the algorithm I'll throw another comment on here and add that I lost the fight against myself and ordered the throttle on Jan 3rd (during the X-Mas sale). My decision was driven, in part, by the footage in this video, since this was the first time I'd seen the CM3's interior and how clean and well-built it looks. Of course... today's the 19th and I'm still waiting on a shipping notification - but according to Virpil support that's down to the WHT adapter plate I also ordered currently being out of stock in the EU-store - the throttle itself is apparently ready to ship. Going to be a bit of a Frankenstein mounting situation ... VPC Throttle -> VPC WHT adapter -> VKB WHT base-plate -> VKB UCM S universal base-plate -> VKB UCM-S desk-mount. But I'm very happy with VKB's mounts and didn't see the need to buy another one from Virpil when a €20 adapter will do.
@@OverkillSimulations Well... today was the day when my order status went from "Paid" to "Complete". Shipment's no here yet, but at least it seems to be on the way now. Took...errr.... 5 weeks and 4 days from ordering to it getting shipped. Which, believe it or not, is actually not too bad compared with other customers' waiting times. Pretty sure that it was the WHT-adapter rails that caused most of the wait. Support sent me a screenshot that showed the throttle as "ready to ship" on Jan 7th... :D
7:19 ... Ho-ly chit... forget about the handles and buttons... that interior looks super-clean and so well put-together. Comparing that to my Warthog throttle's interior puts the Thrustmaster product to shame. Man... I'm currently trying to talk myself out of the TM WHT to Virpil upgrade, but this video really doesn't make that any easier... :D

Fantastic videos on the Virpil gear I have the CM2 stick base and love it but will will upgrading my TMWH throttle to the Virpil CM3 soon especially after watching these videos. I don’t see myself using the finger lifts tho is it possible to just push to AB ? With the warthog throttle I did the sand down mod so I didn’t have to lift up the throttle to get in AB. Anywho thanks for the tutorial Overkill… you got me sold of the throttle for sure now. Glad they have a USA store now too. Congratz man 👍🏻
hi i have now also ordered the virpil throttle and joystick, i'm already hot as an apple pie! Can you please make a video where you explain how you assigned the various buttons and switches on both devices for e.g. the boeing 737-800 or other aircraft for the microsoft flight simulator 2020? Isn't it funny that Virpil allows you to adjust clutches on the stick base without opening the casing but you have to do it for the throttle while VKB has done it the other way around and thus neither has a full hotas that can be freely adjusted on the fly?
Wait wait wait….you can LIFT the finger lifts up? I….have small fingers and they are JUST out of the way, it’s my only complaint about the throttle and it’s not even a complaint?!?!
My big question is how much is the shipping? I've heard a lot of stories of how expensive they are to pay for shipping. I see they have a US store, does that mean it's cheaper or what? I wish hadn't seen this because I am thinking about buying a new HOTAS, I have an X-56 now, but my buget is slim, so not sure if I should pull the trigger or not.
Yup $20.00 shipping + handling fee I think was like $28.00 US store I ordered from and it takes about 4 weeks, Monstertech CM3 throttle plate was $38.00 and $40.00 😮 for shipping and took 2 weeks.
