On today's virtual safari my friends, Simon Espley and Owen Grobler, spend a whole day at Indlovu River Lodge's two incredible hides with me. We photograph a host of small birds as well as a few shy zebras at the smaller Hoseng Hide in the morning, and in the afternoon loads of other mammals and more birds entertain us at the larger Thapama Hide.
Indlovu River Lodge's underground hides really are two of the best places in South Africa to photograph wild birds and mammals at eye-level - a perspective that really makes your wildlife photographs stand out.

What a nice video and reminding me ti ask myself a question" why am i still living in Pretoria? " i believe you've go the beatiful photograph of those two baboons. The Bronze manikins earlier, they were so beautiful reflected on the water abd nit disturbing the water. Awesome 👌🏾

Awesome. Brings back great memories! Did see a green pidgeon but only session that I had overcast conditions not the great light you guys got! Super jealous! I 'survived' the hide with single malt.........afternoon sessions only of coarse : )

These hides are awesome for bird/animal watching but it makes for the most boring images. Was cool when we saw them for the first time a few years ago but the lack of variation and repetitiveness of the images makes their use cases very limited. I find myself leaving my camera in my bag more often when I visit. Nice episode. Keep it up

Altus Basson, first timers definitely have a different experience to those of us who have been there a lot. I challenge myself to get something out of the ordinary when I’m there, or at least something I haven’t taken yet. Just being there, though, is magical enough... 🤩

What camera are you using for the videos because the footage is awesome and the quality is really good.

I use a Canon 90D with a Canon 100-400mm Mkii lens for most of the footage, Dude Awesome 🎥
