I have been watching a lot of virtual safaris on RU-vid lately and just couldn't resist doing my own one. I decided to start in one of my favourite game reserves in the Greater Kruger National Park, namely: the Manyeleti. It's located only 45 minutes from where I live in Hoedspruit and is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the whole of the Lowveld.
The reserve covers approximately 23000 hectares and it's surprisingly open considering that it's nestled between the rather dense Timbavati and Sabi Sands game reserves.
On this first virtual safari of mine I spot an elusive serval on the Jackal Plains, I get entertained by a funny hippo while I have my morning coffee and I track the Naru lion pride in vain. I also share a few older highlights from the previous week, including a leopard hoisting a warthog carcass into a tree, a sable drinking from Main Dam and a cheetah scent-marking on an old sign post.
