This session was so informative. I have never heard "undetectable means untransmissable." I have so many questions! If a pregnant woman is undetectable, does she give birth via cesarean section or is a vaginal delivery an option without risking the baby contracting HIV? Also, as a healthcare worker, it is very common to experience a needle stick. Part of hospital protocol is to have blood drawn from both the patient and healthcare worker so that it may be tested for Hepatitis and HIV. Does "undetectable = untransmissable" apply to blood to blood contact? Does the hospital protocol of blood tests even mean anything if patients with HIV can be undetectable?
