I"ve found a spray starch to be a big help in managing regular viscose/rayons. I pre-wash, and then lay it flat and give it a layer of starch, and let it dry. Then I press and cut. The starch controls a great deal of the slipping while sewing, and a quick wash of the completed garment brings back all that silky feel!
I found this video really useful as I had no idea what viscose twill is and what the properties are. Great tips about choosing the right needle - I’m one of those who uses the same needle for everything. Not any more! Also great tips for cutting out the fabric -clipping to the cutting board. Your delivery is very clear and informative. Thank you 💕
Hi Tamlyn iv chosen twill fabric to make trousersill show you once iv done, didn’t know so much about twill viscos, good luck with bump, keep well good luck luv teresa
Great tips Tamlyn 👌. I have used viscose twill twice now and adore the softness of it against the skin... gorgeous fabric 💕. I made the Kalle shirt and the Nexus and both came out lovely in viscose twill👍. I used a universal 70 on mine and it came out ok but didn't think if using a ballpoint.. I'll try that next time. Like you say, good idea to try them out first on your fabric 👍. I drool over Lamazi fabrics 😍. Don't worry about more tips videos...you need to take care of yourself over the next few weeks 💟😊😘
Thanks for the tips. Have been making the Simplicity S8907 jumpsuit from with a Grandeur black viscose twill from Lamazi. Really nice fabric to work with. Just waiting on some more elastic to arrive for the waistband.
I've just discovered viscose twill from pound fabrics and they feel so nice and soft and drapey. Can't wait to make some trousers and skirts with them!
Thank you Tamlin, just a coincidence,I just bought 2 and a half yards of a beautiful rayon here, in the US.,and I didnt know how to deal with it or wash it. It is beautiful for draping. When I was pregnant,I just lived in my oversized we call them denim overalls here.Mine were just below the knee.I know what you mean about having comfortable clothes.Stay safe!
Thanks for the good info! I just bought four pieces of fabric here in the states and had trouble finding something I liked. I just took a look at Lamazi’s website. I would have had trouble deciding what to buy! They have so many beautiful fabrics! Next time I’ll save up and buy enough to get free shipping. It would be worth the wait.
Great tips Tamlyn. I love this sort of fabric, but always end up in a fight with it 😂 I particularly love the idea of clipping it to the cutting mat. I’ve simply never thought of that. Doh ! You’ve made my day 😃
