So finished the main campaign, and the extra bonus chapter with the hard boss. I just have one boss left the superboss black rabite which is kicking me in. Once that is finished I will upload a full game video. Enjoy!
I've seen my share of bittersweet endings. I wish there was a happy ending for once, myself, closest one we got is Trials of Mana where all of the main heroes live, and Charlotte doesn't lose her love interest, it was sad that in Secret of Mana, Primm loses Dyluck for good all because her father didn't want her dating a mere soldier. And here, Val loses Hinna and either doesn't think to revive her with the Mana Sword's power or he just can't. But what am I talking about? That's like asking why, in SOM, Primm didn't think to use a Cup of Lifenoodles or Dryard's power to resurrect Dyluck after Thanatos/The Dark Lich is vanquished. Healing items and spells just simply tend to not work on dead people in cutscenes. At least Hinna and Val get a bit of a happier ending than Primm and Dyluck.
When one of the kids said “Grandfather Val.” On the day that he died, did Val married someone else and his kids started their own families, or did Val adopt some kids who were orphaned after the events of this game and they started their own families?
@@seangrant3617 I know Val wouldn’t forget his love for Hinna by marrying someone else. But he can still be a parent without marrying someone else and still raise some kids of his owns. Or maybe Val became village elder of the tribe and still did the whole adoption thing.
This is why I can never stomach the Mana series because in every single game there is no happy ending I don't care if they met again in the afterlife she died in her Prime and he had to live an entire life before he got to see her again there must be enough fans out there that hate these Little Mermaid like endings (I refer to the Anderson fairy tail sad ending not the Disney one) to keep the series going because it always breaks my heart to see the MC and the girl he loves always ripped apart .....it's why I liked the Tales of Arise ending so dam much because we finally got another happy ending in one since Tales of Destiny I think
@@sweet_sukeban4022 I've had to much bitter sweet and sad in my life it's why I try to read/watch/play as much happy as I can maybe if I hadn't gone through so much crap the first 18 years of my life I'd be more open to them and it's not like I absolutely hate them because they do appear in some of the things I've enjoyed it's just I don't like them as the only ending especially to games and considering all of the Mana series has had sad/bittersweet endings makes it one of the last series I'll play....well to be fair I believe there was ONE mana game that had a happy ending
@sweet_sukeban4022 There is more unhappy and bittersweet endings than you think. Plus it doesn't hurt the mana series to have a happier ending every once awhile.
Wasnt legend of mana and trials of mana jave happier endings? I could be wrong but yeah remember playing sword of mana and getting that messed up ending
Everyone keeps saying this isn't a happy ending, but it pretty much is. Bittersweet in context? Sure. But their world is saved, Val stops Daelophos and uses the Mana Sword to stop the curse that needed the alms. Sure it took his whole life but it was a fulfilled life, but he is reunited with Hinna in death now and forever. Throughout the game, the lax attitude of people about just tossing chosen ones as sacrifices AND the Distorted run to the final boss shows that they are proud to be chosen to be alms and know the responsibility of this but are happy to do so because people are just returning to the cycle of mana while knowing they maintained the peace of the world and watches over everyone, the mana afterlife seems pretty much like the lifestream in FF7.
Very reminiscent of the Lifestream, I agree. :) And this is definitely a happy ending, Val lived a full life and was reunited with Hinna. I'm also glad there was no sequel hook. Just "The End." This game was a complete package and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Man I wish we could get a true happy ending in one of the Mana games. They are always bittersweet, the bad guys are beaten but either the hero's are separated or the world loses mana anyway
Not me 😢 I wasn't familiar with the story and since saw people praising said to myself why not. Now I regret it have 10hrs already but probably won't beat it.
It is a happy ending where they live their life but it was skipped for us to see the post credit where Val finally reunites with Hinna which has become the new Goddess replacing Khoda’s love of his life which was the old goddess
most of the bosses look cool and all, but with Morley's nightblade class you can cheese them with the moon class ability which freezes time. Even without that the early bosses are pretty simple whereas the later bosses have a ton of health. Case in point this fight. I have insane crit damage and rate potential and yet the fight took so long lol. Though each boss did look unique and themed well. In terms of the game, combat can be wonky especially the targeting. Half the time you're fighting the targeting and camera instead of the enemies which upset me and took me away from the experience.
@@Rubhen925 "half the time you're fighting the targeting and camera" this LMFAO. such a weird and basic thing they blatantly failed at. completely ruined the demo for me cuz i had eye issues
Yea ngl most of the game is simple jrpg mechanics and story. I'm ok with simplistic design choices. But come on camera and targeting is important. Even in this fight. I'm trying to target the damn middle core of the body and thr game keep switching between the arms and legs......
I have a question with the ending. Did Hinna become the New Mana Goddess? How did that happened? There is no indication that anything bad happened to the previous Mana Goddess. What happened to her?
Val with wind as a saber buff bot (set him "Protection is paramount" and he will always throw a proper saber buff to your party) or with Ice. Ice specialize in freezing which is very OP in this game and you can even freeze some bosses. Throw him a Boost Freeze from Nicollo shop and enjoy your ice sculptures. Careena as Fire for easy SP generation or Wind for her party immune to both status and stat decrease. Morley as Wind for his critical-rate party buff, Moon for his OP critical-focused build. Palamena as Water for self-sustained (Water Flash racks up MP pretty fast and she regens half of MP usage post-battle) + faster cast time + good non-elemental end-game spell + also use Freeze (though she suffers damage reduction on enemies immune/resist Water, unlike Val just freezes them with physical attack). As Light if you control her to utilize Consecutive Cast seeds. Wood is an interesting build as you can instant cast them, but the animation is kinda slow. Julei as Wind for party heal regen/summon attack, Light for powerful reduced-MP party heal+status removal, or Shadow for all-stat debuff (useless against superbosses, though) + passive mag.atk/mag.def debuff. Or Moon for powerful magic-build as long as enemy doesn't resist all elements.
Val Wind. Great saber caster as ai Careena Water. You debuff a foe and it gives you the buff mirror. Some of the debuffs are over other elements and the dark one (magick def and att down) means 4 stat changes in one go. + versions affect all foes Morley Moon. For the relic that freezes time alone, if not used on another character. 70% crit chance in its passives Palamina. Enough great choices. Earth=high magick attack, Light=boss dmg boost, but Water allows quicker casts, a godsend against tougher bosses. With Moon she can freeze time to cast easier. Julei Fire. Free heal every 10 second (10% of health) isnt bad tbh. Light would be his best heal class for raw wisdom and the extra hp healed through his passives. So this one for bot, fire if you want to play with him and ler some of the healing be done by that perk
Loved this fight so much. :D Such a challenge. Also, I know that Daelaphos was granted mercy by being reunited with Cerulia in the end, but I do think an apology would have gone a long way on the Goddess' part. Like "I'm sorry I placed such a heavy burden on you when all you wanted was a peaceful life with your beloved." That being said, Daelaphos kinda made his grief the whole world's problem. Lol
Just reached the final boss earlier today. Genuinely such a misserable experience. Just take Urizen from DMC5, bloat up his HP to an unreasonable degree, and stick him against AI party members that dont know how to dodge and die in 2 hits even with the best gear. That sounds like fun. Hopefully i'll beat him tomorrow before work, but...Jesus Christ, what were they thinking??? Just targetting the right bloody part of the boss is a challenge in itself. *sigh* Rant over. I want to like this game, but moments like this drag it down so so much... And now the studio has shut down, you know they can never fix it or try again. EDIT: Managed to beat the boss. Glad its finally over. Props to anyone who can be bothered to beat it on hard mode. Switched out my Morley for Careena. Her buffs and debuffs were a borderline godsend considering the sponginess of the boss. Palamena on full healing/nuking duty, with time slow to hold the boss in place. Val for elemental buffs (mostly wood for mp regen) and using light to link the bosses limbs for bonus damage.
There's a wood spell called burst that can be doublecast with at least two items in the game. It deletes about 15% of the boss health every 4 seconds in hard mode and I somehow found it before the Benelovons. Try getting it and I promise it's going to make the game a blast.
@@alexisguillen8400 I think I might have got it but never used it. Wood spells seemed to be pretty damn rare... Doublecast though. Is that actually a thing? I found every chest and whatnot. Only things I didnt do were a couple of sidequests. And the master elemental trials ...and the stupid Cactus things. In such giant colourful zones, theyre too hard to spot
@@alexisguillen8400 Turns out, I did find the burst spell, but never bothered to look at it 2700 power is...insane Ancient curse costs the exact same mp and does 2070 I'm sensing...balancing issues Looking through my skill list, its the strongest spell in the game by a mile
@@koheikyouji The damage alone is good, but what makes it the best is that it's fast and has a small hit box unlike ancient curse. Try it out in Daelophos with any of the double cast spells (there's one for wood spells and one for all spells) and it melts his health in under a minute.
@@alexisguillen8400 Well, I beat Daelophos last night and dont really feel like redoing it, but the spell was definitely useful in the postgame Managed to beat the dragon boss, but the Black Rabite...is a bit much. I'm only lvl71 rather than 80+, so I might have to consider turning down the difficulty for him (or just grind, I suppose) Ancient curse is really disappointing unfortunately, to the point I usually stick with doublecasting doppelganger. Its a pity that spell doesnt do all 8 times of damage 1 after another, rather than just being non-elemental Thinking about it, its probably easier if I just run through NG+ at some point. Then id be able to max out the skilltrees and unlock all the passives for a perfect build No sense in doing that once the superboss is already dead afterall :/
@@tylerlane8221Fate is cruel, but forgiving for understanding. I feel you, but he can never get her back. Because of this, it made him grow stronger to become a true hero. I wonder if he had any family? Perhaps not and grew old alone.
The happy in the next life is a huge lie in that universe, as it never stops asking for people you love to be sacrificed, such a world is actually hell, the people that struggle the most for it's continuity loose the most and can never be happy.
@@Tigerhearty Val cancelled that though. The sacrifices were there because the Mana Goddess slumbered and Daelophos' rage cursed the lands so it needed backup fuels to power up the world while she was on sleep mode. It's specifically why after beating Daelophos, the Goddess and Khoda tells Val that now that he has the sword of mana he can make MASSIVE changes to their world and so he does. The credits show that they all return back to their homes and live out their lives.
@@SteelBallRun1890thank you. You really missed that part. Still, I understand how he feels, but fate is fate. Heaved throughout his whole life, probably single forever to wait for his time. He sure has his fill in his adventure and he has so much to tell everything about it with her.
