We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.
amzn.to/2L55pDR
We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.
amzn.to/2WbTNFH
We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.
amzn.to/35AWqUs
Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.
amzn.to/2YDeADt
Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here
Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Most people would refuse to drive in London even if they’re from this country
@MadCatPerson1977
@MadCatPerson1977 5 лет назад
Agreed on that one. For all it's faults, the transport in London and suburbs is pretty well connected. I am in my early forties and have never learnt to drive (but people still do and I am still the exception). It's only when people move out of the city that they have to really think about getting a car. Depending on where you are in London the traffic, pollution and travel time makes a car prohibitive.
@kxyoto8541
@kxyoto8541 5 лет назад
That’s probably because of how many people live there and the shit ton of traffic that comes with that.

Although I was born in England, I learned to drive in Australia and have mostly driven in and around Melbourne. When I went back on holiday in the 1970s, all my relatives in England and Wales warned me not to drive in London. So I took their advice, parked the car in a long-term garage and bought a "Red Rover" bus pass. However, once I had to go somewhere where there was no convenient public transport and decided to drive. What a pleasant surprise! The almost unfailing politeness and courtesy of British drivers in an urban setting made driving in London (or any other British city) a breeze. Try driving through Sydney in peak hours if you think London is bad. Where I found the Brits fell down was on the open road - they seemed to leave both their brains and manners at the motorway entrance. Aussies are he opposite.

Seriously we barely ever tip in the UK, even if we do it’s just a couple of pounds. When I visited america, this cab driver was terrible, kept driving round in circles and was moody the entire time. When I didn’t wanna tip him he got pissed off. Ended up tipping him 4 dollars but was pissed off like he deserved more? Bruh. Americas tipping culture is crazy.

We put chlorine in swimming pools in the UK, not in chicken.
@89Keith
@89Keith 5 лет назад
no the other reason we do it is due to having higher health and safety requirements that help ensure that meat doesnt get litterally covered in s**t during the butchering process, reducing the need for chlorine. "A report by the EU Scientific Committee on Veterinary Measures, for example, highlighted that the chemical cleaning treatment can be effective at removing food-borne pathogens depending on how it is used. The real fear is that heavily soiled birds may not be sufficiently disinfected, and that relying on chlorine washing could lead to poorer hygiene standards overall. EU officials believe the food industry should be continually improving hygiene standards in all steps of processing - the “farm to fork” principle, and so have banned chickens washed in chlorine as a deterrent to poor practices. But in the US there are no poultry welfare standards so the process is common. There have also been reports, including undercover video evidence by the Humane Society of the United States, of both inhumane and unsanitary practices being carried out within poultry houses due to a lack of animal welfare regulation."

Great review, actually. The most important tip you gave was to look right when you cross the street. I have literally saved two Canadian friends' lives in London. On both occasions, they were about to step out in front of a double decker bus. Of course, the good part is that they are now my slaves ... The only thing I would add about renting a car - you can rent an automatic car. Just tell them ahead of time. Rental companies are becoming better at that. Also - don't drive in London. The public transportation is great, congestion charges will hammer you, there is nowhere to park - the list is endless. But when you go out, you really need a car as public transport outside London is wholly undependable. And pricey.

Band Lover American here, and most of us “queue” just fine. In fact the only times I’ve noticed line jumping is in theme parks like Universal Orlando or Disney World. Big hand to all the British tourists because y’all are always a pleasure to stand next to in line, always polite and give us Americans our personal space. Now the WORST tourists and worst offenders when it comes to line jumping are as a general rule from South America. Mostly Argentina. Can’t tell you how close I’ve come to punching one who was literally brushing up against me in line. And they have these damn tour groups of Teenage girls who literally travel in groups of 50-100 and sing group songs really loudly and generally just ruin everyone’s day. And I know their from Argentina because the will literally have the flags all over their shirts and carrying little ones or having them wrapped like blankets. And they will have one family member get in line , and then the entire rest of the family will push through the line past 100 people. And really mankytoes? In what exact way are we less civilized?

Yet again another good 'DON'Ts' video. Though I will say, the 'calling people British' thing can be safer by calling people English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish, if you struggle with accents, just ask and NEVER assume. The term British technically applies to people from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, though the only people that go by that term are the majority of English people. The Scottish, Welsh and Irish will never want to be called British and the same goes for me, I'm an Englishman and I get pissed off being called a Brit usually by American people. Also, don't drive whilst on the phone, don't be overly loud in a pub, don't get your fish and chips from whetherspoons, take a trip to the coast for the best fish and chips experience!

@jupitersnoot4915
@jupitersnoot4915 5 лет назад
Takertantrum2000 America isn't the only diverse country. The rest of the world actually exists too and everyone else has just as much diversity as the US. Although with what I've seen coming out of the US in terms of how people seem to treat each other there, I dare say everyone else is doing a bit of a better job at being diverse. Diversity means nothing if everyone hates each other and constantly talks shit about everyone else. (Not saying that you do, but in general what I've seen myself coming from americans that I have met, and when I've been to america myself, it may be diverse, but that doesn't mean they all like it and get along) I just get fed up of this "we're better than all of you" patronizing snooty attitudes that americans have. (Again, not saying its you personally but in general.) I can't tell you how many times I've heard the fucking patronizing speach about the so called 'melting pot' or had someone ask me how it feels to be second class to america. Maybe if the general people of america pulled that shiny silver spoon out of their asses and shut the fuck up saying that america is so amazing, maybe the rest of the world wouldn't have the view that america is a pile of shit? Cause trust me, from the outside looking in, I would never cross that border again if it meant having to talk to or see any of the people. I hope you can understand how patronizing it is. It's probably unintentional, but I've heard that melting pot crap so much that all i hear now when someone says it to me is 'my country is better than yours because there are more people in it' it fucking annoys the shit out of me
@Takertantrum2000
@Takertantrum2000 5 лет назад
Nikita Lomas i’m sorry you’ve had those experiences and honestly i’ve felt and witnessed the same thing from ignorant people over here. america has the potential to be an amazing country but people can’t seem to accept that america isn’t the only place on earth. a lot of that is the media we are given that makes it seem like america is bigger than it is (figuratively). so i definitely see where you’re coming from, and i agree to the fullest lol obviously like you said, not everyone is like that, but it’s enough to where america has become a very polarizing place to live, especially for someone like me. i live in washington, d.c. but purely from a culinary perspective, i’m not saying that we are the only country who has diverse people, so i apologize that i made it seem like i was saying it in that manner. i just think there’s this stereotype that all americans do is drink cheese from a can and eat fried twinkies. i’m not criticizing it tbh-if someone eats that, then as long as they’re happy i’m cool.

The food thing is odd. I'd never heard that the UK has a rep for bad food. It's weird because here in England, the general opinion is that America is a great place to visit, but has awful food. But my friend moved from here in London to New York a few years ago and he says that the food is good. Maybe these are just outdated myths.
@woltersworld

Yeah. Honestky the food network and all those cooking shows and foodie revolutions have taken hold in so many places around the world that it's getting easier to find really good food in places that "historically" dont have the greatest reputation for cuisine.

I actually think it's a generational thing - both sides of the Pond. I'm in my 50s and would be mortified to turn up even 5 minutes late, for anything. But my younger friends -- American and British -- think nothing of being one, two, three...hours late. Or even not showing up at all..

I’m a younger person and I don’t think much of being five to ten minutes late for casual meetings (never anything for work - always on time for that.) As long as the late person apologizes, and the others don’t obsess over the 3 minutes and 37.657 seconds spent waiting, I think we’ll all live. 😉

You are absolutely right when you say London is not England and Berlin is not Germany. We recently visited Switzerland. We went on a package tour. We were pretty disappointed when we learnt that instead of putting us up at a hotel in Interlaken we were going to stay at a hotel in Chateaux d'Oex. We were going to travel to Interlaken by coach in order to visit Jungfrau. It took us less than a night to realize how fortunate we were to be staying in a chalet at Chateaux d'Oex. While Interlaken was like any other city with all the usual designer brands, here we saw the real Switzerland, a charming village with breathtaking views.

To an American I can completely understand why they find out food plain/bad. American’s almost always eat out partially due to the cost of ingredients in America making it cheaper to eat out. the food is full of sugar, fat and salt to make it taste better while in Britain we rarely eat out and only in ‘higher class’/fancy restaurants which a lot of tourists may not do. furthermore, Britain our ‘street food’ of Chinese & kebab shop etc is pretty awful, it Britain we mainly eat in, so they don’t experience the same British food we do. Pub food can be pretty hit or miss but once again we have a far ‘duller’ pallet than Americans so we use less salt and sugar, so all food taste way blander to Americans. EDIT: fixed some grammar

About driving: Don't drive in London, especially as a foreign tourist if you're not used to driving on the left. London traffic is far worse than in smaller towns and cities, there are many one-way roads, toll roads, roundabouts and traffic lights. And there's no law on jay-walking; pedestrians can and do cross anywhere they think is safe. In my experience, it's far quicker, cheaper and less frustrating to use the tube (subway). You can even rent a bike, and although I haven't personally tried that in London, I'm sure it would be faster than driving for many journeys. But by all means, driving is the best option for smaller cities and towns, and pretty much the only practical option for more rural destinations.

Don't forget to go to the North of England, Bakewell, Ripon, Beverley, Peak District, North York Moors, Northumberland, Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District, which inspired the poet William Wordsworth, and many interesting places in between, too many to mention. The people are really friendly too, although there are numerous accents and dialects, so don't miss the opportunity to hear some of them! Good recommendation of yours to hire a car, but don't forget to get out of it on occasions and walk the extensive network of public footpaths and bridleways and see the real countryside. Waterproof shoes as you say, or better still boots, are a must! To get to these places you will need a car but don't bother in London. Use the Underground, buses and railways, you can get daily or weekly passes for reasonable money. Otherwise take a cab, lots of them about. Finally, don't wait too long to visit! Love and peace. PS Don't expect ice cold beer. The correct temperature is 12 degrees Celsius, 54 Fahrenheit, if you must. See you soon!

Just to add to the point you make about renting a car - don't drive in London. It's pointless. The traffic is horrendous, you can't park anywhere, and if you do manage to find a parking space, it's either a 3 hour maximum stay, or it's £30+. Only rent a car if you're staying outside the capital city. Roundabouts are easy - just get in the correct lane (left lane for left turns & over, right lane for right turns & around), give way (yield) to traffic on the roundabout & go when there's a gap.

Just a general money tip to keep in mind for Britain for any tourist wondering about expenses. The general rule of thumb is the more South in the UK you are, the more expensive it is, there's a good chance you can get the same meal/item in the North for a lower cost. This is due to the economy difference/industry along the country. It may fully well be cheaper depending on your circumstances to arrive and stay just outside of London itself. You can find some quality spots cheaper but just as complete as the 5 stars in London. But this does depend on you overall, what you can afford, where your going and so on, be sure to check the prices! The rail system is linked to all major cities with sub lines running to the smaller towns, you may need to get several different tickets for several lines depending where you plan to go. Cheapest method is to plan/buy your route tickets a few days in advance and have a designated return period too, there are sites you can use for it like trainline for example to help figuring lowest costs and multiple routes you'll need to take if needed. you can have open return tickets so there is no rush or time limit but it is more expensive. While going through London itself, be sure to make use of the tube! Its very useful to get around with quickly and so buying a card for it is probably one of the best things to get yourself, even more so if you intend to repeatedly come back to London over the years. It saves a lot of time and money overall than buying individual tickets and etc, can be used on some buses too I believe working with the tube services. but don't become too attached to it if you plan to travel North as we don't have anything quite like it anywhere else for the time being and I'll be honest, tickets and transport in general are not the most reliable at times when it comes trains or buses. The South have a much more efficient system overall when it comes to travel.
