Thanks C'sr :) I appreciate the kind words. I have always enjoyed Mexico and the people especially and I am glad to hear from you. We were scheduled to visit Canada last summer, but I was offered a teaching gig in China last minute and ended up in China instead of Canada. But we are hoping to get to Montreal and Quebec perhaps in March/April or late summer next year. But its always up in the air. Thanks for the support and I will do my best on the Canada front! Thanks!
Stayed a few days in Mexico City a few weeks ago. Loved it even though my Spanish is very limited. Good cheap food and friendly people. Felt totally safe walking around at night in the area I was in.
I came across your videos recently while researching on my next travel vacation to Europe with my wife. I've been traveling all over places since I was a kid...and is one of the things for which I'm so grateful to my parents. Traveling is so enrichment. Thanks for your "5 thiings..." video series. My wife an I really enjoy them.
I enjoyed really enjoyed this video. As mexican woman i feel very proud of mexican food. It is unique & tasty but I totally agree that if you´re not used spicy food you might try to avoid hot sauces, etc
Yes! And I was always telling the tourists from the US when they put the "picante" "muy picante" and 'muy muy picante" labels on the food that it is not the same as the US. Of course people wouldn't listen and get the muy muy picante and I could just see the tears well up in their eyes :) but I tried. But man... I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD FROM MEXICO IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!!! Sorry, I am just a big fan :) thank you for writing and commenting!
Gracias Wolter. I'm from UK and will visit Mexico for the first time in Sept for my 50th birthday and I found your video invaluable. Thank you very much and keep up your good work.
If you're all wondering about how to tell if you're getting into "Real Mexico" - when you stop seeing police decked out all in black with M16s guarding the touristy areas, you've gotten to real Mexico
I live in Tennessee and worked with a crew of Mexicans. I have eaten some of the real Mexican foods that they cooked and, yes, it is delicious but it will also tear out your guts if you eat the stuff that's as spicy as what they are used to! Easy on the sauce!
You've really inspired me to visit Mexico (I was always a bit fascinated by this country anyway!) I also love your videos, there always so informative and it's so refreshing to hear someone talk about foreign countries and different places with such an open minded manner.
lol potholes of hell, completely true!! American are super safe in the touristic areas and even in Mexico city, but yeah take care of pick pockets specially in the subway.
I am a university professor as a day job. the travel thing brings basically no money in, I travel because I love it, I make the videos because I love to help others have fun traveling
Thank you! You make me feel so proud of my country : D You really love Mexico and, as a mexican ( born and raised ) I thank you for loving our country. You and yours will always be welcome in Mexico , cus ' if you love us, we'll love you back : 3
Humberto correa I love Mexico. My dad worked there for years and I got to go with him and fell in love with the country and the people. Great place and Great people!
As everyone say, Mexico is good! but, like everywhere, there are good and bad people, and not all mexico is insecure (at least Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Chiapas) and we are friendly with everyone inside and outside of the country :)
Smileysue74 Just visited my Cousin's this past March went with my 2 Grown Son's & Husband..Tell you what I could live there..It was so beautiful & many Cultural things to see & visit..We all loved it!!!Mexico City too..My family showed us a fantastic 12 days..Can't wait to go back!! Glad you like living there
I like this guy because he shows the truth. Maybe it is problematic in Mexico but it is not mayhem here. The problems are in certain areas like the slums of Ciudad Juárez and Acapulco, but not all of the city. Cancún is the best as well. I think media will only show you what will scare you to grab your attention. I've lived in Acapulco, and now I'm living in Mexico City and I have never witnessed or experienced a crime.
+Jonathan Carmona I've been living in Jalisco for the past 12 years and have also never experienced any crime, when I was living in California I would constantly get robbed, and I also witnessed a lot of violence. I think most places in Mexico are safer than in the U.S.
I as a mexican would like to suggest that if a tourist ever encounters theft or any particular situation while visiting Mexico, its best to report it to their embassy. Avoid the police, they're the least helpful people there is in the nation. They will only make the situation worse. Traveling & driving in Mexico is relatively safe, however precautions always are to be taken. For instance, avoid driving at night and spend the night near tollbooths instead since there's always transit.
+The Eternal Anglo lol it's the other way around, the reason Spanish and Irish DNA is similar is because their blueprint are the Basques. so Basques went to Ireland from North Iberia, the difference is in that the Spanish had influence from native Iberians and Semitic people, the pure Basque do resemble the Irish more than the Spanish but not the Britons, the Britons took after the Saxon culture, all in all the People of the United Kingdom have been brothers and rivals to the Spanish, Thesis and Anti-Thesis.
+Luis Humberto Molinar Márquez I would love to. I have always loved Mexico and the Mexican people. The Mexican people and the country have shown so much love to me and my family over the years that I only have love in my heart for Mexico. All the best my friend. Great travels for you!
Is good to find someone who knows and gives good advice about a beautiful country like México, and is from another country. Bienvenidos a México, anytime!
No worries, I used to live in Portugal and would travel a lot with my family while we lived there. Also, I am a university professor so I teach lots of places for example I taught in China last summer which gave me a chance to teach (which I love) and travel (which I love) with my family (which I love) So it helps. Also, I try to save up every dime so we can travel and then when we do I make all these videos and sometimes it takes a while to get them uploaded. China was June-August & Im not done
I am a Mexican living in Mexico City for 20 years, and I have found this video incredibly accurate. Congrats on really making an effort to get to know the world!
Thanks David! I always loved Mexico (especially the people) and wanted to help people better understand that Mexico is not tacos and margaritas but a fantastic place with amazing food, great sites and so much more. all the best to you David!
Wow WoltersWolrd i'm completely agree with you, México is a wonderful country with advantages and disadvantages like any country. I'm so glad how you talk about it and it´s nice that you had enjoyed everything along all these years. Chichen Itzá it´s amazing, also you should know the mexican states of Chiapas, Tabasco and Veracruz, have you visited them?
marketing professor, but I travel mostly on my vacation time and occasionally do guest or visiting professorships in places. I am glad to hear you like the videos. I guess the only way to support is to watch the videos, click "Like" on them and share with your friends. But just knowing you like the videos means a lot. thank you for the support! mark
DONT GO TO ACAPULCO !!! My friend lives here for years. He and his family are having to move now ... he is in fear for his life. Got bullet in envelope pay now or dead later .... just be carful !!!!
hey boy!! I'm from Juárez and is not like you're walking in the street and you'll get killed, just use common sense like in any city, don't walk alone at night, don't hang out with bad guys
yes, I am the cashcow professor (I actually have a video on that I filmed in Milan I believe). Nuerenburg is nice. I have gone a few times at Christmas for the Christmas markets and they have a great german folk art museum as well. the sausages there are really good too (small ones like breakfast sausages in the US). I have not gone back since I started making my travel videos though. I was there in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2006 and 2009. Loved it each time.
I have lots of brazil info, but won't be there to film too soon, but hopefully I can get there before the world cup so I can get the videos out. I will have a 5 love and hates of latin America coming out soon and those will give you a couple ideas. brazil is a fantastic place. I highly recommend it.
Both thailand n mexico are my fav countries to visit, i recommend both to everyone because:1) price 2) super nice people n safe area 3) beautiful ocean 4) spicy n savory food just fit my palette
languaje makes it complicated for job and business experience not as much as tourist as long as you can say gracias and un poquito your are ready to go. For the most part your opinión is accurate.
No, No, No We do eat cheese, just not the kind of cheeses you guys eat in your countries :) Just to name a few: we have oaxaca cheese (which goes on eeeeverything!!), panela, requesón, queso cotija, etc etc etc….
No, No, No We like cheese, just not the way its portrayed in mexican restaurants in the US where the whole damn plate is covered with cheese. Trust me, we have cheeses that taste so much better than that yellow processed crap they put on everything. Like Cotija, queso minonita to name my 2 favorites. The 2nd one is called menonite cheese or Queso Chihuahua
No, No, No Quesillo or oaxaca cheese is extremely used and cream cheese or doble cream also is used in many meals, but he best cheese is handmade we call it queso de rancho and you can only get them in tianguis never packed because it is alwas fresh is has chili, and other condiments, some of them even have wine, we have a lot of varieties of cheese
Timothy Tim Why do you actually think everyone from there is leaving??!! My Mother's entire family lives in Mexico City & Cuernavaca..They have only been to USA to visit us...They have no desire to leave were they live..It's very nice where they live & beautiful weather all the time!!!
Thank you. I have loved Mexico since my first visit in 1994. My dad worked there for a number of years too and we had so many great people from Mexico come visit us at our home in the US. great place with great people
It is one of my dreams to visit The U.S, I live in southern Canada, a province named Manitoba... Will be visiting the united states as soon as I can. Hopefully one day!!!
woltersworld you really know about Mexico , and thanks for clear the 5th point about tacos the US people really need to know the real Mexican tacos. soy de Mexico disculpa mi ingles :D
my friends (Russia and Japan) went once and now they go every year...actually they want to move there. Surprisingly the #1 thing they like is the "People".. then the food, colors and the whole environment, they usually just go around non-toursty areas. It's unsafe around the border and the state of Michoacan.
hahahaha the "speed bumps from hell", yeah they are annoying even for us the mexicans, but i guess they are there because people don't respect the speed limits :/ not nice though... i agree with all of your points, food and people the best! :D
+Munira Aminah your'e wrong, Mexico' s drivers are change now the law is like US policies now, and police very stricts now, Mexico change already
it is not bad everywhere (argentina in BA has decent and tasty in my opinion water) but a lot of the places just do not have the facilities in place to guarantee clean water all the time, so best to stick to bottled water so you don't get tummy trouble. nothing horrible like in st Petersburg Russia but still want to avoid any toilet issues :)
One thing worth mentioning, many places in Mexico do not allow you to flush toilet paper down the pipes. You have to throw your toilet paper in a trash-can in the restroom stalls. I'd throw that in with the 5 dislikes. Just something to be aware of.
Darth Krayt I was told because their pipes are 2" in diameter VS USA's are 5" in diameter...My Mother was from Mexico but living here in US. Always told my 2 Brother's & me to throw toilet paper in trash can..Now that I'm much older I realize where her habit came from..Lol
yes, on my webpage under destinations and Europe and Italy there are top 10 venice, love and hates of Florence, love and hates of venice and top 10 Tuscany and central Europe. you can find those here on my youtube channel too.
I have a couple more mexico videos to come this week and next. I spent most of my time in mexico before I started making the videos hence why so few on mexico. but more are coming. thanks for watching!
I liked Brazil a lot, argentina too... and chile... peru was really neat with all the inca stuff, southern Bolivia is just gorgeous... I did not like driving anywhere though :)
es mas caro que otros partes de mexico. estoy "editing" un Nuevo video solo de cancun, 5 love and hates of visiting Cancun. Debe estar listo este fin de semana (o antes).
Teohuethuecan pyramids And after was invited to a house in a little village and are tacos with a very amazing salsa with worms from the agave plant it was amazing
Hey wolter, I haven't seen a lot of Mexico but I'd say Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. Some of the best dishes in the world. You're right, stay away from The US border, it can get ugly, although it wouldn't stop me, however there is a seize for power at the moment with the El chapo gone and people grabbing onto the scraps, so it could get dangerous. I'll be in Portugal in a month :D Would be great to run into you in the streets of Porto. Great video as always! thanks for doing this
I didn't like your comment about Juarez because i'm from juarez and i can tell that is a beautiful city in the borderland nowdays we became a better city , so please think aboit what you are going to say .
Love your videos! And I like the old pics inserted into this one :) I travel all the time bc I work for the airlines. How do you manage to travel so much?!
Thanks Kopec :) I have some more videos from Mexico and China to put together then we are back onto Europe. So October and early November videos are Mexico & China then end of November through January we have, Germany, Italy, Croatia and a few USA videos. Thanks for the support!
Hi Eulalie. I am excited to hear you heading out with your two daughters. I have a 5 love and hates of traveling latin America video coming out later this week so that may give you a few more tips. I am glad my family travels can help other families travel more too. all the best to you on your trip!
Thanks (on the video and hair compliments) :) I started the videos because I wanted to help travelers in ways that guidebooks were not, I feel sometimes guidebooks have to be "nice" and try to avoid controversy or upsetting people. I am not trying to upset people, but I am trying to educate tourists so they have an idea beforehand. thanks for the support! comments like your's make doing these videos worthwhile. THANKS!
I completely agree. I drove from monterray to guadaljara a couple times, that was fun :) but we stopped a lot along the way. so beautiful. thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate it!
I like the way you think of my country, though the northern part is not that dangerous! There are cool mountains that are not that popular, but beautiful. There is lot to see at the north! Hope you can visit Monterrey some day :)
