🔸Honden
The main shrine of Katori Jingu had a system of rebuilding every 20 years during the Heian period (794-1185), similar to the Jingu at Ise, but this system declined during the Warring States period (1467-1568). The present main shrine is said to have been built in 1700 by Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, the fifth Tokugawa Shogun.
Okumiya Shrine
The Oku-gu Shrine of the Katori Jingu Shrine enshrines the spirit of the deity Futsunushi no Okami (Great Goddess of Mercy).
