Babylon is one of the most ancient and grand cities.. Its ruins should be preserved and renovated. I hope the people of Iraq will attain peace and prosperity recovering from the present turmoil .

sohaib USA is no problem It’s Iran who’s destroying Iraq, and killing it’s people, Iraq riddled with the Iranian militias. Once Iraq clear of the he Iranian control, hopefully things will be better

Lets_WrapItUp I know, but it’s the brutalities of the Iranian militias who caused violence and human rights violations, Iran has done damage to Iraq since the Mongol . Iran killed hundreds of thousands of Sunnis, the prison is full of innocent men held without a fair trial. After they torture them and very close to death they open them up and rip their body organs, . Where is human rights ⁉️

As an Iraqi i thank you for your efforts. Babylon holds a special place in all our hearts. It pains us like nothing else to see our history and ancient sites fade away because of mismanagement and war. I had the pleasure of visiting the site today and i was pleased to see that there were some obvious improvements although there is still much to be done to preserve this treasure.

@DOJA FOX I can tell you're researching, but there will some mixup sometimes. Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians and Assyrians are the same, came at different times, we're talking thousands of years, named on their cities. You're correct, we're not Arabs, in the bible we're Manley mentioned as Assyrians, I am an Assyrian, we speak our own language (Aramaic), at the same time we're not black my friend, nothing against black, I respect them, that region is very hot and the sun is very strong, most of us get tan very quick, and some don't, so we do look brown very true, but we're considered white, I know some people have an allergic reaction against white. most of the Iraqis are not Arabs, actually they are part of us, but they lost their identity, they call themselves Arabs now a days. As the indigenous people of Iraq, we have been marginalized, massacred and displaced, now we live all over the world.

CrooK Babylonic Traditions Easter and the Egg the following comes from Egyptian Belief and Modern Thought by James Bonwick: “Eggs were hung up in the Egyptian temples. [German scholar Christian Charles Josias von] Bunsen calls attention to the mundane egg, the emblem of generative life, proceeding from the mouth of the great god of Egypt. The mystic egg of Babylon, hatching the Venus Ishtar, fell from heaven to the Euphrates. Dyed eggs were sacred Easter offerings in Egypt, as they are still in China and Europe. Easter, or spring, was the season of birth, terrestrial and celestial.” The Hanging Gardens of Babylon Gardening was respected in the Babylonian Empire. Under Nebuchadnezzar, the perfume and herbal industries boomed. The Babylonians were knowledgeable in plants and were skilled at farming and irrigation. Astrology From Babylon, astrology was exported to Egypt, Greece, India, China, Rome and Byzantium, even making inroads for a time in Iran and the Islamic world. The name of astrology’s birthplace, Babylon, means “confusion” in Hebrew, and the city of Babylon is used throughout Scripture as a symbol of a world mired in confusion and separated from the true God. (See Revelation 14:8 and the whole of chapter 18.) Many traditions of the modern world can be traced back to this ancient metropolis. Christmas, New Year’s, Lent, Easter, Modern day Christianity... the list goes on Do your own research!

This was an excellent mini doc on this subject. I teach University History. And have been to Babylon many times but years ago And yes even though it was mud brick. It must have been quite something. The core base of most things in ancient world were stone or mud brick but the grand and gorgeous cosmetic beauty is gone mostly. So people think jut because they only see brick this means there was no beauty but that is a bad way of deducing the cosmetic architecture one cannot see today. Those entrance gates are a fine example and one can only imagine the murals, gardens palaces and grandness that is gone today. Like Roman palaces only brick is left there but we know they were quite grand. And for this to be one of the seven wonders of the ancient world one can easily imagine what this could have looked like. And how grand and gorgeous in reality it really was. Thank you for sharing this. Loved it.

I feel that rather than leaving monuments in a fast deteriorating condition, we should be rebuilding them as best we know how to do. It is a wonderful legacy to leave for future generations. Piles of rubble are "authentic" but, let's face it, they are not going to attract visitors who supply the rebuilding funds and enrich the local economy and present the monuments with the power and grandeur they originally had.

Naveen Dhak You're not so wrong India is Older than Babylon. But you forget about many Siberians tribes: Native Americans/Austronesians/Turks/Anatolians/ Scyths Sahka have build civilisations , cities , Empire, math (older than Arabia and India) , architecture, Astronomy, philosophy, diverse chess games all of them before India. In fact Egypt , Mesopotamia and Pakistan are as old as India. But None of them are as old as The Asiatics civilisations : Siberians/Native Americans 40 000years to 20000years. Turks/Anatolians 12000years, Scyths Sahka more than 25000years they are the First indigenous people of Europe when Asia started from Europe Eurasia (and all North Africans haven't immigrate to Europe yet but only 5000years ago they did and became Caucasians), Austronesians more than 14000years inside China land, in South Taiwan/Bornéo/ actual Indo china (10000years) , in Japan/Korea (9000years) in Arabia (7000years) just saying Austronesians are The Original First Arabs first to live in Peninsula Arabia building Kingdoms and establishing trade. Austronesians in the Americas (10000years) they have already established cities, Kingdoms, trade maritime route, architectures and first humans to plant rice in high hills rice terrace desingned in Pyramid and planting rice in great plain too 13500years ago maybe more, planting rice, pyramid design, triangular architecture it's their knowledge so as the boat, navigation and trade as far as Archeologist have found. By Mesopotamia that means still the Turkics as they are the first inhabitant of Greece and Italy. the Turkic Anatolians are The people of Northern mountains of Italy and Greece caucasus and others have lived in the South valley and islands like Spartans and Corinthians. India was build by Iranians and Siberians with Austronesians influence, and later Arabs in the North Arab Berbers and South Arabs Moors (Ethiopians in Gujarat). Most of India heritages and knowledges are from The Siberians that your people call "Veydic" and of course Iranians too. The mixture of Siberians and Iranians are called Aryans. They live in Siberia and Russia along side with the Slavics and normal Siberians. Indians now are very mixed race still few Turkics and original Aryans. Pakistan was inhabited by the Turkic people too (Pakistan, Kazhakstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, Uyghur, Anatolian, Afghanistan,Turkmenistan, Armenian) people are the same, all Turkics same as the Anatolians of Europe : ioans and Dorians/Spartans/Corinthians of Greece and Italy. Architecture, Math, calendar, Astronomy, Agriculture, farming, diverse architectures especially Stone massons, bricks, pillars, also pottery, ceramics, Status, wood carvings, Leather goods for boots and sandals, weaving of fabrics, making off threads, artificial jungle and lakes and islands, gardening, Spear and arrows, Gold, coins culture for money and huge head dressese, knife, dagger/swords, Jewelleries/Ornaments, tents for campings, caleche and horses , arts, paintings , all kind of strings instruments guitar, violin, etc... and drums all are the culture and knowledges of many Siberians tribes : Scyths-Austronesians/Turkics/Anatolians. Even Those Buddha statues are Siberians-Turkics shaman/culture. Part of Persia/Iran was inhabited by Turkics too during Assyrian Empire. Stone massons architectures and pillars are all siberians tribes knowledge. What they call "Indo-European language and culture and heritage" is not because it is from India, No. Indo-Europeans are The Siberians tribes who inhabited Northern of India, next to the Turks of Central Asia and All the Siberians and Anatolians whom were both first people of actual Europe/Scandinavia as where Asia started before and Anatolians of Turkey, Proto-Greek, Proto-Italic, Armenians "Asia minor" this is why your language is associated with them and the rest of the world because Siberian tribes and Anatolians went everywhere and settled those land first building civilisation, and because Siberians "Veydic people" and Iranians build your Country. Obviously the language is the same. Western Historians and Archeologist do care about knowing The Asiatics civilisation but afterwards they want to burry it deep as they conquerred and invade their civilisations and land, they rewrite history. India, Europe, Siberia, Mesopotamia and many part of the rest of the world was inhabited and discovered first by "The Siberians/Turkics-Anatolians/Austronesians" this is why their language is spoken everywhere because they were advanced and had knowledge, trade, architecture, culture and all their brothers and cousins diverse Siberians tribes are inhabiting The Americas. Austronesians went everywhere and build cities even in The Americas even Arabia, perhaps even they might have designed the Pyramid of Egypt or maybe The Anatolians. Pyramids are in China, India, South Asia, Americas, Africa and it started from the Rice culture terrace design to many Architectures to the Austronesians houses the triangle elevation shape. India is old but it is not the Oldest civilisation, but yes India is a world treasure because India still own many monuments intact despite colonisation while in many oldest places it was all destroyed by looters from war and invasions as the indigenous stood plain and fought, and stayed. I love travelling to India, especially Northern India , have been many times no interest in Buddhism though but the heritage, history, knowledge, architecture especially. India is fascinating! 😊

@@thebirds2406 why u included pak?? It is only a hardly 100 year old concept. But India from indoi was since from ancient greeks(Alexander time)which root word is sanskrit *Sindhu* . Also Pakistan was purely a hindu-Buddhist land where mahayana buddhism started.

I had to search up the definition of ‘excavate’ cuz to me, it sounds a whole lot like stealing in this context. Unfortunate thing is that it may not be in better hands if left behind in such a war torn country. History will forever be a mystery.
