Babylon is one of the most ancient and grand cities.. Its ruins should be preserved and renovated. I hope the people of Iraq will attain peace and prosperity recovering from the present turmoil .
sohaib USA is no problem It’s Iran who’s destroying Iraq, and killing it’s people, Iraq riddled with the Iranian militias. Once Iraq clear of the he Iranian control, hopefully things will be better
Lets_WrapItUp I know, but it’s the brutalities of the Iranian militias who caused violence and human rights violations, Iran has done damage to Iraq since the Mongol . Iran killed hundreds of thousands of Sunnis, the prison is full of innocent men held without a fair trial. After they torture them and very close to death they open them up and rip their body organs, . Where is human rights ⁉️
You mean the war of aggression waged by war criminals in America. Its my country believe me contrary to popular belief we are not that free and we are ruled by a barbarous group of Warlords.Cold blooded murderers.
As an Iraqi i thank you for your efforts. Babylon holds a special place in all our hearts. It pains us like nothing else to see our history and ancient sites fade away because of mismanagement and war. I had the pleasure of visiting the site today and i was pleased to see that there were some obvious improvements although there is still much to be done to preserve this treasure.
I'm european and I'm fascinated by Babylon I would like to build a 3D visit very realistic of this city. But the ultimate dream is obviously rebuild in real world the ancient site. Your culture is priceless Iraqis friends !
Recently a temple been discovered in Iraq What makes me sad that I can’t see the code of hamorabi Because it is in France and Iraqis are most times rejected in France
The Iraqis are the ones who discovered the writing and reading and discovered the wheel and discovered the flight and discovered medicine and discovered the lens of the camera and a lot of no discoveries, but the most important that the whole world owes to the Iraqis because they are the first to discover reading and writing
We Iranians adopted alot of it, because zareostrian religion was based on ancient messopotamian gods and religions ,therefor our Iranian traditions is very similar to those of ancient babylon.
@Sarah Asaad Babylon is not a place Babylon mean wicked .any body that kill babyes any body that go around killing runing people off thay land is Babylon its not a place. i dont overstan how thay can write a book name the holy bibly and put in a lot of bull shit and think we will take and hold on to it . thanks to the Most high we can think (Blessed)
i still remember our school trip to Babylon in the seventies, it was breathtaking experience for me to the degree that i applied the names of "Cuneiform" and Babylon City to my companies that are still operating over there in Iraq.
I am from Dominican Republic, I met some Iraqi people for the first time while living in Holland, our Caribbean-Middle east culture immediately connected and to this day I think Iraqis are one of the most respectful and nicest people around. I hope your country finds peace, you deserve it,
@DOJA FOX I can tell you're researching, but there will some mixup sometimes. Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians and Assyrians are the same, came at different times, we're talking thousands of years, named on their cities. You're correct, we're not Arabs, in the bible we're Manley mentioned as Assyrians, I am an Assyrian, we speak our own language (Aramaic), at the same time we're not black my friend, nothing against black, I respect them, that region is very hot and the sun is very strong, most of us get tan very quick, and some don't, so we do look brown very true, but we're considered white, I know some people have an allergic reaction against white. most of the Iraqis are not Arabs, actually they are part of us, but they lost their identity, they call themselves Arabs now a days. As the indigenous people of Iraq, we have been marginalized, massacred and displaced, now we live all over the world.
Men STFU with your Caribbean/Middle East culture, y’all Dominicans are notorious for being self hating. DR and middle east have absolute nothing in common,
CrooK Babylonic Traditions Easter and the Egg the following comes from Egyptian Belief and Modern Thought by James Bonwick: “Eggs were hung up in the Egyptian temples. [German scholar Christian Charles Josias von] Bunsen calls attention to the mundane egg, the emblem of generative life, proceeding from the mouth of the great god of Egypt. The mystic egg of Babylon, hatching the Venus Ishtar, fell from heaven to the Euphrates. Dyed eggs were sacred Easter offerings in Egypt, as they are still in China and Europe. Easter, or spring, was the season of birth, terrestrial and celestial.” The Hanging Gardens of Babylon Gardening was respected in the Babylonian Empire. Under Nebuchadnezzar, the perfume and herbal industries boomed. The Babylonians were knowledgeable in plants and were skilled at farming and irrigation. Astrology From Babylon, astrology was exported to Egypt, Greece, India, China, Rome and Byzantium, even making inroads for a time in Iran and the Islamic world. The name of astrology’s birthplace, Babylon, means “confusion” in Hebrew, and the city of Babylon is used throughout Scripture as a symbol of a world mired in confusion and separated from the true God. (See Revelation 14:8 and the whole of chapter 18.) Many traditions of the modern world can be traced back to this ancient metropolis. Christmas, New Year’s, Lent, Easter, Modern day Christianity... the list goes on Do your own research!
I would love to visit Saudi Arabia.. But even without a war it's almost impossible to visit as a tourist. I'm dreaming of visiting Jabl Al Laws :D Peace from the Netherlands!
I'm from Philippines.I just read the bible today from the old testament,& I read the story about babylon & decided to find out the real history of it & i was so amazed..it is exactly how it describe in the bible.really GOD is so amazing!!!
Let’s all hope for peace in the Middle East one of the most ancient cultures in the world. My first destination I want to travel is Iran and Iraq I love so much the great history and heritage of the great Persian empire both country’s have.I am Greek and as you know we were great enemy’s for a long time but I really see my culture so much same with the Middle East.I really love your country and I truly hope to travel one day it’s something I would really enjoy and love to do.
I got to visit the ruins over a dozen times while serving in Army in Iraq. I feel very lucky and grateful to have experienced Babylon. Sending love and positive energy to the people of Iraq and the middle east. Im sorry for what has happend to your beautiful country.
@@alex1701waller That is in Afghanistan, not Iraq. Also, the poppy fields were guard to stop terrorist groups from harvesting them and turning them into Heroin to be sold to support their terrorist group, stupid ass.
Thank you with Love from Iraq. We grew up loving our country Iraq . I am grateful to you for your efforts to inform and educate. This gives us hope. Thank you
Mesopotamia was iraq's old name before the kingdom of irak in 1932.. Believe it or not iraq is named after uruk the oldest civilization so far found in mesopotamia... 12,000BC
"even though mud brick is a very humble material..." Sorry? My whole country is built of mud-brick. It's actually a beautiful traditional material that lasts throughout ages. And because it's made of local resources and has no negative impact on the environment it's still a highly appreciated material today. Besides, a very interesting video, thanks.
And just as well that Museums around the world have preserved and reconstructed the Ishtar Gate now that, 7 years after this video was made, the Taliban are back in business and could well decide to blow this all up !
I have read this manga called "The Richest Man in Babylon." It was in Japanese so I wasn't able to read. However, just visualizing the ancient city of Babylon sounds heavenly. I also read The Map of Salt and Stars from Jennifer Joukhadar and I can see how the antiquity of the city and bablyon at the time perfectly ties to the mediteranian life.
As an Iraqi, our school trip was to Babylon! As an Iraqi Christian, the book of Daniel took place there, Genesis 11, south of it, the book of Ezekiel. Also, the start of humanity started there with Adam and Eve. Rich history! To the north, the Assyrians Empire, and the book of Jonah took place.
No it didn't, Adam (AS) was sent down in somewhere in India some Scholars say and Eve was sent down in Mekka and there is an authentic Hadith about it.
wow imagine Iraq is once a powerful and magical city of babylon.. Im so interested on the ancient history of iraq.. so many great history happening here
Please protect this structures from radical terrorists in the future. I want to see this last for another thousands, even millions of year of the next generation.
it is devastating when a single person loses their memories, e.g. to alzheimers, and i think it is devastating in an analogous way when the human race loses its history
This was an excellent mini doc on this subject. I teach University History. And have been to Babylon many times but years ago And yes even though it was mud brick. It must have been quite something. The core base of most things in ancient world were stone or mud brick but the grand and gorgeous cosmetic beauty is gone mostly. So people think jut because they only see brick this means there was no beauty but that is a bad way of deducing the cosmetic architecture one cannot see today. Those entrance gates are a fine example and one can only imagine the murals, gardens palaces and grandness that is gone today. Like Roman palaces only brick is left there but we know they were quite grand. And for this to be one of the seven wonders of the ancient world one can easily imagine what this could have looked like. And how grand and gorgeous in reality it really was. Thank you for sharing this. Loved it.
I feel that rather than leaving monuments in a fast deteriorating condition, we should be rebuilding them as best we know how to do. It is a wonderful legacy to leave for future generations. Piles of rubble are "authentic" but, let's face it, they are not going to attract visitors who supply the rebuilding funds and enrich the local economy and present the monuments with the power and grandeur they originally had.
Not true, but they but they were higher than these you see in the video, because you only see the upper part of the walls, the lower parts are burried under ground.
Seriously? First civilization? first handwriting? Math, taxes, laws.. Epic of Gilgamesh? Mesopotamia's history is one of the most interesting part of human civilization.
Why Ishtar Gate is in Berlin. İt supposed to be in Iraq. There are international agreements about reserving national and historical extractions in their original places.
(‘◉⌓◉’)...I'm actually happy to know that u also know the story of the two angles who taught ppl magic and said don't learn it from us we're sent here as a test from God💜
We have such a beautiful rich history such as Egypt. We are truly the cradle of Civilization if you don't get to know Babylon you will be missing a lot of fractions in history and inventions in Law, math and science.
Naveen Dhak You're not so wrong India is Older than Babylon. But you forget about many Siberians tribes: Native Americans/Austronesians/Turks/Anatolians/ Scyths Sahka have build civilisations , cities , Empire, math (older than Arabia and India) , architecture, Astronomy, philosophy, diverse chess games all of them before India. In fact Egypt , Mesopotamia and Pakistan are as old as India. But None of them are as old as The Asiatics civilisations : Siberians/Native Americans 40 000years to 20000years. Turks/Anatolians 12000years, Scyths Sahka more than 25000years they are the First indigenous people of Europe when Asia started from Europe Eurasia (and all North Africans haven't immigrate to Europe yet but only 5000years ago they did and became Caucasians), Austronesians more than 14000years inside China land, in South Taiwan/Bornéo/ actual Indo china (10000years) , in Japan/Korea (9000years) in Arabia (7000years) just saying Austronesians are The Original First Arabs first to live in Peninsula Arabia building Kingdoms and establishing trade. Austronesians in the Americas (10000years) they have already established cities, Kingdoms, trade maritime route, architectures and first humans to plant rice in high hills rice terrace desingned in Pyramid and planting rice in great plain too 13500years ago maybe more, planting rice, pyramid design, triangular architecture it's their knowledge so as the boat, navigation and trade as far as Archeologist have found. By Mesopotamia that means still the Turkics as they are the first inhabitant of Greece and Italy. the Turkic Anatolians are The people of Northern mountains of Italy and Greece caucasus and others have lived in the South valley and islands like Spartans and Corinthians. India was build by Iranians and Siberians with Austronesians influence, and later Arabs in the North Arab Berbers and South Arabs Moors (Ethiopians in Gujarat). Most of India heritages and knowledges are from The Siberians that your people call "Veydic" and of course Iranians too. The mixture of Siberians and Iranians are called Aryans. They live in Siberia and Russia along side with the Slavics and normal Siberians. Indians now are very mixed race still few Turkics and original Aryans. Pakistan was inhabited by the Turkic people too (Pakistan, Kazhakstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, Uyghur, Anatolian, Afghanistan,Turkmenistan, Armenian) people are the same, all Turkics same as the Anatolians of Europe : ioans and Dorians/Spartans/Corinthians of Greece and Italy. Architecture, Math, calendar, Astronomy, Agriculture, farming, diverse architectures especially Stone massons, bricks, pillars, also pottery, ceramics, Status, wood carvings, Leather goods for boots and sandals, weaving of fabrics, making off threads, artificial jungle and lakes and islands, gardening, Spear and arrows, Gold, coins culture for money and huge head dressese, knife, dagger/swords, Jewelleries/Ornaments, tents for campings, caleche and horses , arts, paintings , all kind of strings instruments guitar, violin, etc... and drums all are the culture and knowledges of many Siberians tribes : Scyths-Austronesians/Turkics/Anatolians. Even Those Buddha statues are Siberians-Turkics shaman/culture. Part of Persia/Iran was inhabited by Turkics too during Assyrian Empire. Stone massons architectures and pillars are all siberians tribes knowledge. What they call "Indo-European language and culture and heritage" is not because it is from India, No. Indo-Europeans are The Siberians tribes who inhabited Northern of India, next to the Turks of Central Asia and All the Siberians and Anatolians whom were both first people of actual Europe/Scandinavia as where Asia started before and Anatolians of Turkey, Proto-Greek, Proto-Italic, Armenians "Asia minor" this is why your language is associated with them and the rest of the world because Siberian tribes and Anatolians went everywhere and settled those land first building civilisation, and because Siberians "Veydic people" and Iranians build your Country. Obviously the language is the same. Western Historians and Archeologist do care about knowing The Asiatics civilisation but afterwards they want to burry it deep as they conquerred and invade their civilisations and land, they rewrite history. India, Europe, Siberia, Mesopotamia and many part of the rest of the world was inhabited and discovered first by "The Siberians/Turkics-Anatolians/Austronesians" this is why their language is spoken everywhere because they were advanced and had knowledge, trade, architecture, culture and all their brothers and cousins diverse Siberians tribes are inhabiting The Americas. Austronesians went everywhere and build cities even in The Americas even Arabia, perhaps even they might have designed the Pyramid of Egypt or maybe The Anatolians. Pyramids are in China, India, South Asia, Americas, Africa and it started from the Rice culture terrace design to many Architectures to the Austronesians houses the triangle elevation shape. India is old but it is not the Oldest civilisation, but yes India is a world treasure because India still own many monuments intact despite colonisation while in many oldest places it was all destroyed by looters from war and invasions as the indigenous stood plain and fought, and stayed. I love travelling to India, especially Northern India , have been many times no interest in Buddhism though but the heritage, history, knowledge, architecture especially. India is fascinating! 😊
@@thebirds2406 why u included pak?? It is only a hardly 100 year old concept. But India from indoi was since from ancient greeks(Alexander time)which root word is sanskrit *Sindhu* . Also Pakistan was purely a hindu-Buddhist land where mahayana buddhism started.
I had to search up the definition of ‘excavate’ cuz to me, it sounds a whole lot like stealing in this context. Unfortunate thing is that it may not be in better hands if left behind in such a war torn country. History will forever be a mystery.
Strut it out, walk a mile Serve it ancient city style Talk it out, babble on Battle for your life, Babylon! That's gossip, what you on? Money don't talk, rip that song Gossip, babble on Battle for your life, Babylon!
