Thanks for much! London for the Holidays is so pretty. And collecting such an iconic hat (with the turn) in person is wonderful. (I cosplay Henry Jones Senior, my Harris Tweed trilby was bespoke.)
I have a Herbert Johnson Crusader rabbit felt hat! It’s amazing and I’ve had it for 3 years! It’s going with me to Cancun next month. It’s been with me through 5 US States and Israel so far!
Very nice review!!! Thank you for taking us to the store with you so would take delight in living vicariously through you!!! Lol!!! The hat is a work of art!!! And it looks great on you!!! Fellow Indy Fan - enjoy!!!!🙂🙂🙂
@ Cosplay Vicar - Absolutely beautiful Fedora!! I bought my friend's Herbert Johnson Seaplane Fedora from him earlier this year ($300). I only wear that one when I'm dressed up nicer for occasions. I have two Fedora's from AdVintage Hats (He's based in Germany.) My first one is called the Harrison (It's in Rabbit/Sable) Modeled Last Crusade. Under $200 absolutely love it and it's my go to everyday Fedora. Come 2026, I'm going to order a Last Crusade Fedora from Herbert Johnson (For my ten year anniversary working for the movie theater I work for.) I'm a professional Cosplayer and Indy is the face of the theater and I'm obsessed with the character and the franchise. Fortune and Glory!!
It's a Herbert Johnson, but I was lead to believe that the block used in the movie raiders of the lost ark has been long lost? I have a penman raiders with the turn. I have had it for 12yrs and never once took care of it. It looks better today after wind, Sun, snow, rain, being sat on, than it did 12yrs ago. Congrats of the new fedora. Great video. Thanks
I’m excited for you! So awesome! that hat is THE screen accurate version! Fun fact they actually lost the molding buck for the original Indy hat after production. Luckily the customers around the time that had the same style from when the movie was made were more than obliged to help and lend their hats for a prolonged amount of time so they could recreate the correct molding buck to replicate the original! That’s why the hat is significantly different in temple of doom as well as last crusade! Quite splendid! Congrats!
Awesome! The look of joy on your face is infectious. Very happy for you and also envious as That's the last piece of AUTHENTIC gear I need. I just my name down on a wait list which I know will be intolerable! ;)
Love the hat. My goal is to, one day, order a Herbert Johnson 'Sea Plane Poet' Indiana Jones fedora. I have a Stetson Temple right now and I love it. Great video.
Thank you. I have been going back and forth about ordering a hat from them but this tells me that I should and will do so. Now, which one? Too many choices.
20/10, Old Bean! I have a Rogue Explorer's suede leather hat from Hazyview, South Africa. Nowhere near your beautiful hat but it has braved hippo, rhino and elephant charges on my terified head with me😂 Well done and I wish you many happy, adventurous miles with that gorgeous headpiece. 😊
What a COOL VCAR wish all Vicars where this cool. Have you ever done a sermon dressed as Indiana Jones. Best Hat ever the only place to get a hat from recomended 👍👍👍
Looks good! Just got my first nice fedora a couple weeks ago. The Stetson Stratoliner in brown. I’ve been a Stetson Open Road guy. Now I’m hooked on classic fedoras. And saving up for my Herbert Johnson Indy Jones. Just have to figure out which one.
Congratulations on receiving your new IJ fedora from Herbert Johnson. I must admit that I am envious. Among my hats, I own two near-IJ's, each of which is different in quality, but I enjoy wearing them both. The first is a low end replica that I bought from Tenth Street Hats of California and sold under the Dorfman Hat Company label. The style is closer to a 1940's fedora rather than the IJ hat, but it's rather well made even though the wool felt is heavily stiffened. All in all, I like it for casual wear and have gotten a number of compliments on it. I only paid about $80 for it, so no regrets. My second IJ replica is an Akubra Adventurer shaped in the Indie style. It too is wool felt made in Australia in Akubra's Imperial Quality. A very nice hat and much closer to the actual Raiders style. I'm partial to the Akubra brand and this one has softer felt and is very comfortable on my head. I get a kick out of seeing the looks people give me when I'm wearing it. I can't tell if it's because the hat registers in their mind as a Raiders design or they simply are not used to seeing guys walking around in a fedora. I live outside of Houston so it's not uncommon to see Cowboy hats, but fedoras are another matter. I paid about double the price for this one and my only regret is that it's usually so hot and humid in Southeast Texas that I typically wear a straw Panama or Cowboy hat. I give Indiana Jones credit for wearing his throughout Middle East deserts and South Asian jungles.
I always wanted an Indy “style”hat, doesn’t really have to be screen accurate. 25 years ago I bought a Stetson Fedora, still have it, but it is just to small in proportion. A few months ago I got an Akubra Adventurer that I am quite happy with.
I have a HJ Raiders Turn Poet. It has more of a golden liner and the stiching of the sweatband is not the same shape as yours (and the heros hat knwon from screenused), but it feels great and I love it! 9.5/10 I would say :D
I don’t have a Indy hat yet but I’m saving for a long time to by one. Unfortunately I could never afford a Herbert Johnson but it is definitely my dream wnd goal to own one someday!
Awesome hat! Absolutely gorgeous! So jealous! Have a no name fedora that I bought at a local store in Philly in the US that everyone said looked like an Indiana Jones hat, which I wore for many years and still wear from time to time. I eventually bought a Stetson Temple which is a decent Indy replica. I also have an officially licensed Dorfman Pacific hat that someone else I know also purchased. However, we both agreed the hats looked less Indy Jones and more cowboy.
Oh waw. I have recently got a man with no name hat too. It’s the best I can come up with in the UK. It’s not a hat that’s easily acquired in British hat shops. I will always be looking for a better option.
‘Northwest Hats’ made mine, with a slightly larger brim, as I work outside, in the remote areas of Kauai and needed more sun protection. Beaver felt was preferable, as it’s a bit stiffer than rabbit and holds up to rain better. It’s look is spot on..
I had one years ago, but it was probably anorter brand or Stetson, but the Herbert Johnson is very impressive.I was researching Howard Hughes on his Stratoliner Stetson, but sometimes the color varies in the movie shots from Brown to almost stone grey but never wool. Beaver or Rabbit appears to be the most durable. How much did you pay ? I happen to have the same hat size, 7 1/4 of Harrison Ford. Love the jacket and shoes too !!
I currently have three hats one from HJ the other which was made of beaver from a hat company called Northwest and last and my fav hat is from Steele and Jones from Argentina!
I think you probably know this already, but when you wear the turn, you still center the pinch on your head so that warps the brim in that Indiana Jones way......
I have a HJ Poet in deep sable rabbit in the Raiders bash and it is my pride and joy! Did I hear correctly that they were commissioned to make the hats for the new movie?!?
Nice video my first raiders hat is from Steve Delk from Adventurebilt love the hat and my second hats is from John Penman obviously there are slight differences between them but I love them both but my ultimate goal is to get a Herbert Johnson whickh I will be ordering soon
Best hat in film? Coolest hat in film? I'll go with both. Compare to other bits of 'cosplay' and consider this actually works as a rather nice hat to just... Wear. As a hat, not a costume. I mean, at the end of the day, the prop is what it was meant to be in the story and fiction.... A really nice fedora. To make an accurate replica, you have to make a really nice fedora, that deserves to be worn on those merits alone.
Against the grain..... Never heard that before.......... Usually brush with the lay, which is usually anti clockwise, maybe that's what he meant??????? Or maybe I'm wrong????? Edit...... Looks well on you. 👍
Mmmmm. For someone to say such a comment on such a Video is either 1. Angry 2. Got too much time on their hands. 3. Not a Indy fan. 4. A bully in general. Or the lot.
