You guys in Perm make winter fun and beautiful! The ice sculptures are amazing, and I love that gorgeous theatre. Your niece and nephew are adorable, and you have such a good heart to spend time with them. I think that most of your subscribers would agree that our favorite thing in Perm is Eli from Russia!
I know that Russia is extremely rich in culture and that they also want to protect it. They're right! Here everything breaks down and ours is increasingly oppressed. My respect for the Russians! The nice thing about your videos is the way you present them. The performances are light, funny and you have a great knowledge of many things. I regularly watch your vlogs and really appreciate them. I think your family is a beautiful family, lovely children and your niece, or whatever she is, a typical babouchka. I have the impression that she has a warm personality and a very sociable person. Thanks for this vlog, Elly.
You show us so much of your life and this is beneficial to me. Being alone now, as my wife of 54 years passed away, you have provided such a great calming and warm presentation as a gracious hostess and guide. Thank you for taking the time to share with so many of us, that do not travel far from our place...You've opened a window to the east that was so unfamiliar and unknown in years past..You are beautiful and have such a good loving spirit for other people...Thank you for your vlogs..Spaceba?? Mr William Hayward (Bill) 81 in Texas.....I love what you do ..God Bless and protect you on all your journeys...
@@g.s.632 Now I’m Texas the daytime temperatures have reached 105F and rain has been non-existent for a whole month. Why don’t creative people over there develop an experience called The Great Northern Russian adventure? Tourists from here would love to be able to say “I was in an area known for its frigid winters. “ The Creators would supply the clothing and equipment to the tourists or they could rent or purchase their own. Of course this would be feasible after peace comes again and all of our people get together again..❤️❤️🙏
Hi Eli, just wanted to make a general comment having watched several of your videos. You're exceptionally talented and I admire your love of your country. It's most interesting to learn from someone who is not a stereotypical, blonde-haired and blue-eyed Slav but represents another nationality in the RF. Our countries are at loggerheads at the moment, but I hope we can all find our way to better days. Greetings from Boston. (You should try to visit us sometime- maybe after getting a nervous breakdown in Manhattan, it's saner here...)
Where do you get such stereotypes about Slavs? Who teaches you such nonsense? This is racism in its purest form! In Russia, for example, “blond-haired, blue-eyed” is not a sign of a Slav. Even stereotypically in Russia it is something Scandinavian, perhaps German. And Wikipedia says that the proportion of very light eyes and hair among Russian Slavs is low. Russian Slavs for the most part have transitional characteristics between northern and southern European types. And in some regions, southern European types have an advantage. Or are these fake Russians? The ethnogenesis of the Russian people, as the largest people in Europe, is very complex and diverse from the very beginning. And besides this, there are also South Slavic peoples, who, although not Russian, are also Slavs. And they are dark-eyed brunettes. Or are they not the right Slavs?
"I will go where the blobfish lives." HAHAHAHAHA Brilliant video! I've wanted to visit Perm for ages. At first I was just intrigued because of its association with the Permian period, but I dove deeper and discovered it has a cool cultural history. And your video makes it look so charming!
That was a high quality, very interesting, and wonderful video. The little red headed girl was your mini me. :) I love winter videos. They are SO beautiful. I would definitely love to visit that place.
I would like to see Perm for the ballet alone! I totally forgot about the ballets in Russia and that they are indeed world famous! Looks like a lovely place!
As a Canadian, it looks like a pleasant cozy town. Of course, we are a bit more relaxed about properly cold winter weather than some other countries. 😃
I have been in Irkutsk while it was -40. So I should be able to stand the Urals. Anyway there are many places in Russia that I would like to see, Perm is one of them.
Omg I accidentally disliked the video on accident so sorry. Then I liked it again😂. I love how in such harsh weather Russians have so many ways to make it festive and cheery❤️
Thanks for showing your home city with oss. You really made it interesting and beautiful. In Sweden we also have a cold period now. Then in summertime we enjoy every minute to make the most of it. Good blessings!
Ok Hi Eli love you vlogs ALWAYS A couple of this I wanted to correct lol. In this vlog you say the phrase “girls are such girls” the proper phrase in English is “girls will be girls “ the other phrase is when you said your niece want to Dye her nails that’s also incorrect, in proper English it’s “ paint her nails” not dye you dye your hair that’s correct or you dye your clothes, but nails you paint. Ye just thought it’s important lol. Keep up your beautiful vlogs they are amazing!!! Very informative. Thanks Eli xx
I don't know about anyone else but I find the sound of Eli's voice so soothing. I watch her videos and listen to her voice and I can just feel the stress in my life going away. 🙂
As a Canadian, I'm so impressed how your city has embraced winter like many cities do here as well. The opera house looked so lovely in the snow and is such a beautiful building, and that ice sculpture was incredible! Your niece and nephew are fortunate to have you as their aunt. So great you are teaching your niece English! Let's hope she can pick up the language and eventually use it to her advantage some day.
Dear Eli, Your Niece and Nephew are two of the cutest children that I have seen. Perm looks like a place that I would really like to see. I don't care what season it is, but I think that I would like to see it in the winter. Being a U.S. citizen that was born and raised in Europe, the winter time near Christmas has always been a magical time for me. God bless you and your family.
Cant stand the cold after being in hot Vietnam , but want to head over there in Russia as my forever home! Love seeing the kids enjoying the weather! Thanks for sharing!
2:15 we call it RUSSIAN SALAD in Serbia, it is not a part of traditional serbian holliday lunch but we make it for almost every holliday. Especialy for new year.
I would absolutely love to visit Perm someday, especially in winter time! I live in Worcester, Massachusetts in the Northeast of the United States and right now, even as I type, we are experiencing a BLIZZARD. We might get over 12 inches of snow today! But I like to visit snowy places that actually know how to clear their streets and also know how to enjoy the weather instead of just complaining about it. (Worcester is a complainer place). Please keep making your videos! I love your perspective and outlook on things! (My next big trip will be with my soon to be wife to visit Romania where her family is from, but she has never been there)
thank you for sharing your hometown and beautiful family. i really enjoyed this video: the ice sculptures are wonderfully artistic, the opera is rich in tradition, and i identify having had nieces and nephews. i also had the pleasure of seeing "The Nutcracker" at the Blackstone Theater in Chicago back in the mid '80's...such a wonderful experience. stay warm Eli ! btw, this cradle to grave Catholic living in the Northern Michigan USA area will be in church praying for PEACE !
Thanks a lot for this video. I have been living in Russia for more than 20 years and particularly love the north of Russia. I have been to Murmansk, Norilsk, Tomsk and many other cities but never to Perm. I love opera and have always wanted to see an opera at the Opera and Ballet Theatre. Well at least now I have seen it in your blog. Also there was an article in the New York Times about street art in Perm.
I am so happy to see the warm (friendly) fun and happy parts of this planet! Even if the temps might not be considered warm in any way, the giggles, smiles, and hospitality sown in this video makes me wish I could experience these places myself someday!
Having had the great fortune to visit Russia, I can honestly say that Eli's videos understate what a beautiful country it is, and how lovely most people are; however, for me the first problem with going there is the visa. . . . . Then, after getting through the border, spending a whole day in a soviet era office with all sorts of problems and questions from officials to get my visa and passport registered each time, then when finally leaving the country, the long interrogation about exactly where I have been, what I have done, and what I spent all my money on. So, I will have to content myself with Eli's videos.
But no offense . Russia was subjected to large terrorist attacks in the 90s and early 00s (when houses, planes, bazaars, etc. were blown up, hospitals, schools, theaters were attacked), therefore foreigners are subjected to strict checks, since Russia does not want a repeat.
@@JO-nh6mo For example? United Police States of America ? Orwellian U.K. ? Open air concentration camp called Australia ? Reason i never was in USA is that fingerprint scanning at their airports ( from 2002 ?), i did not want to feel like criminal. Unfortunately, now we have biometric passports and newly biometric ID. But it started in USA, not in "communist homofibic Putinian" Russia.
I love watching your videos. And yes the snow does talk! It can get as cold as -50F here but average-40F for the coldest weeks. So squeaky snow is normal here too. Love the Nutcracker by the way, my daughter was in ballet for 10 years and she loved dancing in it
Siberia and Northern Russia are kind of like Alaska in terms of geography and climate, except that the land area is many many times bigger than Alaska.
@@Stephen-ob3ij Yep, Kamchatka peninsula in the far east has a very similar if not identical climate and geography to the Alaska peninsula. Meanwhile interior Alaska is closer to the Siberian mainland.
I’d definetely like to visit Perm! It seems a very nice city, big but not too hectic, the ice sculptures are great, you have a beautiful theatre, some lovely old buildings, the view from the Kama bank is impressive. P.S. I also like those rappers!
I like the sound of the squeaky ❄️ snow. I used to work in the field doing minerals exploration and squeaky snow meant that the snow wouldn’t be melting, which made my feet wet and was a miserable weather condition. 0 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit was a more comfortable working condition than 32 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. February in northern Nevada usually brought a warming wind that turned the ground into a thick mud. I live in Hawaii now and I miss cold weather. I’m in the minority that way.
wow.. i remembered that day when you're starting your channel around 10k subs, now it's more than 100k. congrats, very proud of you. i was planning to visit Russia in the next winter, but sadly the border is still closed for my country :(
Previet Eli. I know a lady in Perm...Valeriya...a lovely model. I.ve seen pictures of Perm but your videos are Excellent! I see you have Hip Hop& Rap in Perm? I.M a New York City native. The Birthplace of RAP!( I.M more of a Jazz fan🎷🎶🎵🎼) Keep up the good work. Extremely Important in these troubled times! Nations should try harder to get along❤Dasvidanya
Perm is truly a nice city and I think that it has the potential to be defined as a city of European culture, even if it isn't in U.E.. I love cold weather in winter and despite I am Italian, from Susa Valley, northern Italy, I'm used to cold temperatures (not so cold as in Russia). Com'é carina tua nipotina, ti assomiglia molto. Siete veramente una bella famiglia Grazie per questo bellissimo video
Love the ice sculptures in your city Perm 😊. Keep up your good work showing us good videos of your country Eli! Sending you much love from Norway 🇧🇻❤🙌🏻
You are just the most amazing diplomat for your country and your city. I would totally love to visit your city and if you ever find yourself in central California you will definitely have a home here. You are definitely able to find the beauty in life and share it with the rest of the world. Thank you for what you are doing.
Actually, I would like to visit Novosibirsk and live there for a while to learn Russian well. I have studied four semesters of Russian at Sacramento City College, and one of our assignments was to be a foreigner in Russia; I chose Novosibirsk. That said, the Russian winter would be too much for me because in California when the temperature falls below 10° C we panic.
Если пермь для вас прохладный, то рекомендую присмотреться к Сочи. Это прекрасный и красивый город с субтропическим климатом. В январе в прошлом году там было +18 градусов Цельсия
Your videos always make me feeling impressed and smiling:) by the way…your accent reminds me always of my friend from Moscow haha +video quality on top 💯
Hello 🙂 Eli!! I love the Perm opera and ballet 🎭 theatre!! It looks magnificent!! The ice ❄️ town looks incredible as well. It must take a serious amount of time and definitely a lot of creative talent to build that. Perm is a Winter ☃️ wonderland for sure!! Your niece is quite 😂 funny as well!! Take care, Eli!! 💚✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽💚
Great and informative video as always. About the weather, I prefer colder places than hotter ones, since I live in the mountains, so even temperatures of -20 or -25 are pretty normal in Winter, though in the Summer It gets to almost 40 degrees.
Perm a closed city during Soviet Union but Elina shows the cultural side, life, food and family. You edited greatly incorporating the sounds and ballet to other events. Nice Elina and thank you.
Perm must certainly be the ice sculpture Capital of Europe. That is already a very good reason to visit. So glad you went to the ballet! We go every Christmas, apart from the last two, which were cancelled because of the Covid virus.
A single place can have both industry AND culture. In fact, they generally go together as the local industry helps pay for and employs the people who enjoy those lovely cultural activities.
My Golden Dream is visit: Moscow, SPB, Sochi, Crimea, Sebastopol, Vladimir, Tula, Rostov on Don, Yekaterimburg, Omsk, PERM, Vladivostok, Spassk Delni, Khavarosk, SIBERIA Baikal lake, Tribeka, Taiga and travel on the transiberian train.
Ah, now I've got a big smile right through to the heart. I would love to visit Perm, but I doubt if this will ever happen. Never mind, you've shown me now.
Beautiful children 😍 beautiful video as always . You have to take us there in the summer time . I live in Canada and my city looks frozen right now like yours .😄
The tradition w the doll🪆is so cool. It's like a treasure hunt! Here in 'merica, the Nutcracker is also enjoyed. And the pies are called turnovers or empanadas 💂🏻♀️
I am most content when I am alone in the forest and mountains but if I ever felt the need to visit a city I would be interested in experiencing the culture of Perm...especially the food. Thanks for the video.
You should take us for another tour during summer . Google says its -15-C right now in Perm, and Buffalo NY is -13-C , so it feels like home, but your girls look more beautiful 🙂
Hi Eli, This is Akshay from India. I discovered your channel resently. I have watched most of your videos. I found it very interesting. Keep going. Now you have given new dream to me, to visit Russia at least once in this life. By the way local food you had in this video is very interesting. In india it is also famous. In india we called is GUJIYA. In stead of juice we fill it with dry coconut powder & suger powder. You can also make that. It test very good. See you in next video.
Beautiful city for sure. The ice sculptures are amazing. Your niece and nephew are beautiful children. Your niece has your hair colour. She’s a beauty just like her auntie. I didn’t get a good look at your sister so maybe the good looks run all through your family.👍👍🇨🇦
Thank you Eli for bringing me back to Perm again. Always thinking about what it looks like now after 6 years that I left. I remember very well inside the city center. Best touring is by bicycle. The embankment area is amazing and the lovely yellow cathedral. I wish you come back again in the summer to show us how lovely is the area.
