We visited Mykonos in the month of February so most of the things were closed for us but there were still a couple things open! I believe most places stay open between April-October so because you are going after we aren't totally sure what will all still be available but probably more than what was available to us!
The island was absolutely beautiful! Although if you go during the summer season you're going to be fighting through a crowd of tourists all the time 😂
Looked like a pretty big place for all those amenities to be closed, even to the locals. Also was amazed at all the whitewashed buildings! Someone must have a busy business. Love this. 🙂
Hi there, im flying to mykonos on the 10th of March. Will all the shops be closed? and is it hard to find food and transportation? Appreciate your feedback. Thank you in advance.
That’s so exciting!! More will be open for you then when we were there I assume! When we were talking to some locals they said most things start reopening in April but there will still be some things to go see 😁 I would check in advance with companies if you are wanting to rent a scooter or car but there still are some buses operating, just less frequently and not to ever destination! Hope this helps 🥰
@@robynandgraham thank you for the heads up! hoping for a good trip since this is my first time. pretty worried if evrrything is closed tho, esp at night
@@ikramshahrizan4665 Don't worry there will be some stuff open! You just might not have a ton of options 😁 Mykonos is beautiful and we hope you have the best time!
As you experienced by self's the life in winter time in Greek islands isn't that glamorous and easy as the majority of people think. Many shops and services are closed. Weather is usually not really cold but pretty windy and this affect the transfers among to islands. And just to remind Mykonos is one of the richer and expensive islands of Mediterranean and maybe in Europe. Imagine the life in other small greek islands with elderly people, even less population and shops, poorer facilities. Also in many of them there's serious problem with hospitals and medical personnel. Idyllic places for vacation, but the reality for residents are far different.
Yes, we definitely did not expect the Greek islands to be like this in the winter! Thanks for your insight on the situation 😁 we still met some lovely people and had a great time on the islands but it was definitely very different then what we expected
There should be more open to you then there was to us! When we were talking to the locals it seems like most shops and restaurants begin reopening in April 😁 By the time we left Greece (beginning of March) the weather was already starting to warm up so it should at least be comfortable weather by the time you get there!!
Hey! Not 100% sure because we were there in February 😁 but when we were there (which was the low season) most weren’t running at all and if they were it was once or twice a day to a select few locations
Not so much! Definitely the winter is a lot quieter on the islands than what you would see in the summer! I'm sure there may be some clubs/parties open but we didn't hit up any while we were there so we aren't totally sure!!
We mentioned the name of the restaurant in our video 😁 It was called Point. And although we don't often say the name of where we are staying, we do show the sign in our video! We stayed at Hotel Lefteris. Hope this helps 👏🏼
Honestly it depends what kind of weather you are going for! Mykonos is a highly tourist based island so a lot is closed in the winter time. We went in February and most shops, restaurants, hotels, etc were closed so I'm not sure we got the full experience! Definitely less tourists around which was a plus! I would say most things are open between April - October but if you want to go in a winter month than maybe March?? That might have some things starting to open?? Not totally sure tho! Hope this helps 😁
