We had such a great time exploring Saltaire. We learned all about the town, it's history and it's creator, Titus Salt. We also explored Salts Mill which was a big surprise.
Sir Titus Salt, 1st Baronet was an English manufacturer, politician and philanthropist in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, who is best known for having built Salt's Mill, a large textile mill, together with the attached village of Saltaire, West Yorkshire.
Sir Titus Salt was a Bradford industrialist who made his fortune spinning and weaving the soft wool from alpacas. Salt came from a religious family and was interested in the wellbeing of his workers. At the time, cloth mills were often gloomy and unpleasant places to work, and workers lived in slum conditions.
