Follow us on our travels around The Snowdonia National Park captured over four days in November 2021.
We visited Pistyll Rhaeadr, a beautiful waterfall on the outer part of Snowdonia. There had been so much rain in the weeks before our visit to North Wales that anything with water was super impressive and flowing so fast.
Next stop was off to visit The Fairy Glen and Swallow Falls in Betws y Coed, such stunning places to visit and very quiet, a bonus of being here out of season.
We visited Portmeirion on the only day the sun made an appearance, great place to spend a few hours and highly recommended! a taste of Italy in Wales. From Portmeirion we took the short drive to Beddgelert, probably one of the prettiest villages in North Wales and on this day one of the wettest!!
On third day we took the 1 1/2 hours drive to Anglesey to visit Newborough beach and Llandwyn Island. The weather was absolutely wild and was hard to film. Twr Mawr lighthouse was well worth the hike and the sandy beach goes for miles. In the summer I can imagine it's a great place to visit for a beach day on the golden sands.
Day four was the main event, the reason we travelled to these parts........Snowdon via the Watkin path!!! Being from southern England we have good hills but no mountains at all. We are drawn to the mountains...... We set off at 0700 from Nant Gwynant car park. The weather was beautiful but cold -3c. We had done Snowdon before but never the Watkin Path and was really looking forward to the challenge. It didn't disappoint!!! Its tough in places and you definitely need a respect of heights.
We had sun, wind,rain ,hail and snow!!
We ascended via the catkin path and descended via the miners track, finishing the the 6 mile walk from Pen y Pass car park back to Nant Gwynant as the Sherpa bus was not running....(un planned)
15 miles and 11 hours later we had completed our hike!! Fantastic day and very rewarding.
