Prayers For Bobby is a critically acclaimed, 2009 Lifetime television movie starring Sigourney Weaver as Mary Griffith and Ryan Kelley as Bobby Griffith, a gay teen who is rejected after coming out of the closet to his mother.
The movie was based on the book of the same name by Leroy F. Aarons.
Mary Griffith refuses to accept her son's true nature and sexuality, based on her intolerant religious views. Only after Bobby tragically takes his own life does she slowly come to accept and love her son for who he was.
On my recent trip to the San Francisco Bay Area, I visited the gravesites of the real life Bobby Griffith who is bured at Oakmont Memorial Park and cemetery in Lafayette, California.
Thanks for joining me today on another trip to celebrate another life with pride!
