The canal lock in Fenny wasn't supposed to be there. They started building the canal from both London and Birmingham and were due to meet up at the same level in Fenny. Unfortunately, they messed up and one side was 6" too high. Hence the lock with the very small height difference.

Great job on finishing off all the Stations on the Marston Vale Line Jen. I remember when I did Fenny Stratford I used the hour to go to the Tesco in the area and get lunch lol.

The Marston Vale Line is quite a unique little line in Bedfordshire and will soon be absorbed as part of the East-West Rail line once the whole EWRL project is completed.

If you like canals, we had a guy stay at our B&B who is walking every canal in the UK and writing a book. Could be a video idea? Using trains to get around

Bow Brickhill was my girlfriend's local station before she moved away for uni. I've driven past it many times on the way to her parents'. Although it's much easier for her to be driven to Milton Keynes Central (because her parents hate the roads around Bletchley). I did like Fenny Stratford when I visited, but the one with the cafe and heritage centre was my favourite (and somewhere to visit again). MK is a nice city, but speeding up and slowing down for all the roundabouts is annoying. There's so much nature about there, and the redways are a great idea to connect everything. And I absolutely love the Starships, the little autonomous delivery robots.

That whole line will need to be double-tracked again soon, if it's going to be able to cope with the increased traffic from Oxford when that part of the Varsity Line reopens.

I've never properly been to bedfordshire but now I know most stops on this line take you to beautifully quaint locations with a plethora of nature around. shame you can't ride the 230s down there anymore but they've been fun to run along the borderlands on much closer to home :)

Bletchley was the site of the code breakers in WW2 and the museum is fascinating but they chose Bletchley because it was on the West Coast line from Euston and if memory serves there was an important telephone "hub" in Fenny Stratford which was crucial for passing messages on as Bletchley Park never transmitted anything during the war.

You should do the Castle li e at some point. It's a great line (with no voyagers or 150s in sight) 😂

Milton Keynes is great to drive past but not go in lol. Spent a lot of time hauling building stuff into there in the 80's....got bloomun lost everytime 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

MK gets a lot of bad press. My husband is from Bletchley and lived in MK when I first met him. MK does of course have lots of concrete and roundabouts, but is also has lots of green spaces, lovely old pubs in the villages that MK swallowed up etc. it’s not as bad as people assume.

5:16 This crossing has recently been involved in a barrier strike, a vehicle hit the barriers as they were lowering and 2-3 barriers were severely damaged. That shows how idiotic drivers are nowadays!
