Great video Shawn, this is exactly we expected when we've been there a few weeks ago. The views are awesome but don't eat up here folks, it's a tourist's trap... They charged a lot for the quality of the foods ( example: 12 pounds for 4 small pieces of breads and 12 pounds for tap water )

Hi Shawn. Really loved rhe blog. I'm planning a visit in July and I'll probably do the "all included" entry as they say there's no queue on arrival. You made me feel a little calmer by the information you gave as to possible seating as I'm not good with height but keen to see the spectacular views. Did this on new years eve at night tour views fast track is apsolute worth it and a must buy it skips every single que going and you get a free drink bubbly or soft drink, You get x4 photos for free. You get a personal own shard view guild. But awesome video mate great vlog.

The London Shard's highest 72nd-floor observatory gets you up to 801 ft above the ground. If I ever visited the Shard, the only negative thing on my mind would be that I pay less here in the Chicago area to go to 1,029 ~ 1,050 ft (94th, 95th, and 96th floors) at the John Hancock Center observatory and cocktail lounge. And 1,353 ft observatory at the Sears Tower here. (floor 103) A total 552 ft higher than the London Shard observatory can get you. Even if you put the London Eye on top of the Shards 72nd-floor observatory the Sears Tower observatory would still be higher. But then again, the 780 ~ 801 ft view from the Shard of London is fantastic. So it would still be worth it to me. And height isn't always everything. I had a fantastic view from just 230 ft in the Milwaukee WI area that I really liked. 🙂

Hi shawn, another great London landmark. But once up the burj Khalifa everything else seems so short lol, that other building you mentioned going up will be 978 foot when finished, about 40 foot shorter than the shard. You done all those sights in one day ,nice full day.i took the family up the shard a week before we went to Dubai, break them in.lol

This is the best viewing tower in the world in my opinion due to what you can actually see. London has got a lot more to see compared to Dubai and New York.... Might be a bit of bias coming from a Londoner but it really is the best city in the world

That other tall skyscraper opposite the shard is 22 Bishopsgate but it is 32 metres shorter then the shard. Shard is 310 tall and 22 bishopsgate is 278m tall. Shard is 1016ft high and 22 bishopsgate is 912ft high

What a fantastic view of London..... still not so sure about the ultra modern architecture.... but the Shard is warming up to me. Have you thought about doing a DaVinci Code location video? The Templar Church and A deep tour of Westminster Abby would be super cool for me. Looks like the Queen was at home, as the flag was flying over Buckingham Palace! Should have stopped in for tea! I can't WAIT for more London. Even though I have never been there, I could easily call London home.

That's a cool lift. It already looks like you're in a tall building with all the mirrors in it, though it would be funny if there was just a massive spiral staircase like in the monument.

How does the shard elevator work? What happens if i say i just want to go to like floor 40 to go to a restaurant and dont pay the £20 or whatever it is for the “view from the shard” ticket? How do they prevent me from going all the way to the top?

"you don't have to go right to the edge if you're scared of heights" Although, I've no idea why anyone scared of heights would want to go up the tallest building in the country

I get a great view of The Shard from my office (I work in the Walkie Talkie) and most of London. It's a beautiful building but I do prefer the Gherkin and the Cheesegrater 😀 1 Undershaft looks like it'll be good from the renders, just hurry up and start building it. For other good (free) views try 22 Fenchurch Street (Walkie Talkie) and Fen Court Garden.
