Thanks Nicole. I love excalidraw and excalibrain. I sometimes differentiate between atomic and concept, finding some collections of concepts need each other for context, not doing too well as composable, lonely islands. Love and light. ❤
Hi again, friend! That is exactly why I'm not too strict about making something a "lonely island" (lovely imagery). I often have larger-than-atomic notes, just like in tech not everything has to be a microservice. Whatever works!
Great video, thanks for providing a use case! One of the things I really love about this atomic note ecosystem here is that it accommodates a spectrum of visualization and textual possibilities. Whether someone needs just a little visualization or a lot, it's very accommodating to set it up in a way that is optimal for each individual, and that is a huge draw for me.
Exactly!! I totally agree. I'm not as sold on pure visual note-taking as others, but having the option to mix and match and choose what works best for me along the spectrum is fantastic. Obsidian is really great at being flexible enough to suit many needs.
Never thought that the last word would be "terima kasih". The reply will be "Terima kasih kembali (formal)" or "sama-sama (informal)". Thx for the video.! "Salam from neighbor country, Indonesia"
I'm loving your channel! excellent, interesting, informative and thorough! A wee bit of feedback on this particular video - I find the background music a tad too loud and it becomes distracting. I understand why some use background music, but my view is that, if it is used at all, it should be very much in the background.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm always trying to improve, so I'll keep that in mind for next time. Audio is a hard thing to nail! I'm happy you like my videos!
Nicole, I love Excalidraw plugin, by the way, do you experience issue with large files in Excalidraw? In my case with Ipad Pro 2020, whenever I draw and insert heavy image in my draw, I experience lagging issue later on
I love this video. Very clear explanation between excalidraw file and its corresponding markdown file. This case combines excalidraw(even including excalidraw image block embed), excalibrain and dataview. It is rather a complete workflow. But I have a question here. Does "parent:: crptocurrency" mean currency is the parent of "currency" or the other way around?
Happy you liked it!! In the case you mentioned, the Cryptocurrency note would be the parent. What comes after the double colons is the value of the field. :) Hope that clears things up!
I wish it had native password protection for each files like in one note, I don't want encryption, but a simple password protection from prying eyes, so I can show my friends particular files and they can't get into others
@@nicolevdh Hi Nicole, In all sincerity, I wanted to give you my appreciation for your work making these videos. I'm a newcomer to Obsidian and your content has been invaluable. I'll tell you what I like... * You have a very tranquil and amiable demeanor when you present the information * You are multi-lingual! * You are clearly extremely technically competent * You present the developments in really a hands-on user friendly manner * You have these little touches conveying respect for the viewer...(paraphrasing..."This is what I do, you may want to do it differently") * amazingly, the examples you give of how you use things are almost all useful to me! * You introduce such cool & useful other tech tools, such as Readwise ... Por ejemplo, I'm going to go "meta" by using Readwise Reader to take notes on your recent "Taking notes from RU-vid videos in Obsidian"...PLUS...I got a subscription to Readwise cause the process you laid out is so cool * While there's more, I'll end by saying ... You have given me a content feeling as a newbie knowing that when I'm ready as I keep on learning that I have an excellent mother load of Obsidian learning material to go back to. * Btw, I'm using Obsidian to make a "snippet manager on steroids" for my 15 years worth of R snippets etc. Awesome cutting bait! Muchisimas Gracias!
WOW, thank you so much for this, José! I'm touched by the kind words. It's so nice that you appreciate what I do (or what I try to do!) and comments like this make my day. :) Glad to know I introduced you to Readwise-- it IS cool, right?! Gracias a tí. Agradezco tu apoyo <3
yes! there are a few other plugins to make the experience even smoother, though I don't remember the names. even without, it's a great experience. you might find it helpful to bind a stylus button to H for the hand tool (panning).
Haha! Sort of. You can embed Excaldiraw drawings in Canvas as well. But if you're feeling like it's getting complicated, then I'd suggest you not use either. Or, as you mentioned, Notion is still solid (albeit lacking in these features).
