Anyone really surprised by Cryptic's decision? It might be a good ship but it's not worth spending hard earned money to gamble for it. Ima just sell lockbox keys until I earn enough to buy it on the marketplace. Maybe when the government does crackdown on loot/lockboxes then maybe Cryptic/Perfect World will wise up and start selling all the boxed ships in the c-store where they should rightfully be.
Cryptic is envious of EA and similar companies, they won't change what they've been doing for years. But it's nice to dream of a day when all that changes.
@@Kit_Kat_Catastrophe That's YOUR opinion. Like it or not lockboxes are vastly unpopular. Especially at the droprate for ships that people want. And it's not like STO is a popular, in demand game anyhow. Let's face it, Cryptic/Perfect world are sketchy, some of the devs are sketchy and their policies regarding ships and stuff that people really want being in lockboxes...they'd make more money just putting them in the C-store. But no, that's too easy. You must like being in abusive relationships, because it's almost like wanting to keep lockboxes in the game when ships and studd should be available for all and allowing for much better story content to be written and featured.
Love the way this ship looks. Just sad that Cryptic decided to hide it in loot box mechanics instead of putting it in the Lobi store or C-Store; I'd buy it in a heartbeat from the C-Store and/or be willing to spend my Lobi crystals on it.
Again, just astounding work. I will look for STO's SM video ASAP. I think this may be the best iteration of the Enterprise since it's original iteration. The beefed up dual nacelle struts really do it for me, I love the simple, more subtle alterations on the nacelles themselves, just every little change addresses an aspect that has, at some point, bothered me. Some people whine about any deviation, but when you look at this and the NX-01 refit, the visual lineage is very much more in line. I was always sad they lost the hemispherical bussard collectors...I was happy to see them here, and in the Kelvin NCC-1701. Well done, brother!
Oh! I saw your piece for the Enterprise on STO. DAMN, THAT WAS GRRRRREAT!!!! I don't know your professional status, but even on their own home field, your style still shines through. If you aren't working on their projects, or on the shows, you should be. On RU-vid, you are in a class of your own. I am guessing they asked for the filtering and diffused lighting effects. It did give it a more cinematic look, but honestly, I appreciate the crystal clarity of your approach. That old-school Klingon D-7 is a real upgrade to a design they really haven't touched since K'Tinga in TMP. It is so nice to reaffirm how those iconic ships can still give me goose flesh on my forearms over fifty years since I first saw them.
Thanks! I just approached the video like I do on my other cinematic works here on my channel. As for professional status? If you mean do I do this for a living, the answer is no. Just something I taught myself over the course of 5 years
Oh, well....At least l do own the Eaglemoss version. TOS Constitution is indeed legendary but Discovery Constitution is already half way there. Love the ship when it first appeared at the end of Discovery S1.
It is absolutely heartbreaking this will be so hard to acquire. That said thanks so much for the visual review really looking forward to the secret project video :D I personally like the Disco Connie material the best with the Section 31 then Discovery Vanity Shield and third the Emperor's Vanity shield after that. To be honest I do not care much for shield visuals on Fed ships I like the Federation Star Fleet look imo. Question the new advanced phasers do they have the same sound as the TOS phasers? it was hard to tell as the other TOS ships were firing. I only ask because from what I remember hearing they did not sound so loud as TOS phasers in the Disco S2 finale. I was hoping they would be quieter lol .
I don't hold any major objection to your opinion of this. I like this vessel better than the Kelvan USS Enterprise. ( Which reminds me of flying bed pans!) It's not a clot on eyes. Bears a passing resemblance to the First Original refitted Enterprise from Star Trek 1 TMP.
Every single update is irrelevant no matter how new the features or good items to get from event, it's always extremely time consuming and lock from impossible paywall lootboxes, totally not worth a sec
This ship took the combined efforts of myself and two of my friends to get this ship within 3 days or so, selling everything that could be sold on the Exchange. Worth it. Worth every penny.
@zefilms Congratulations on your big break, bud!!! No better way to break out with Cryptic than with the most iconic ship it the franchise. Keep up the great work!!!!
She isn't an alternate universe Enterprise, actually. CBS and the writers have confirmed that it's set in the same timeline as the original various series.
@@captainquirky8576 yet the TOS Enterprise is confirmed to have existed as far back as "The Cage" (A fact that STD only reinforced) how does a 289 Meter long starship get Refitted into a 442 meter long vessel, then back to a 289 meter long ship.
@@richardched6085 star trek has never been consistent with sizes, just look at the Defiant vs Enterprise E. She was way smaller than she should have been compared to the Sovereign class in First Contact. The length of the original Enterprise has never been stated on screen. The orthographic for the Discovery Enterprise seen on Discovery puts its length around that of the original.
Love this ship! Definitely keeping my eye out for this one. Now that you've done this one, you should do the other Constitution classes! Just throwing the suggestion out there.
🖖😎👍A very cool and awesome looking ship indeed, I think it would of made a great refit for the movies of course with the blue deflector dish added and the recration area /botanical garden windows would of looked very cool indeed 👌.
Excuse my language, but it’s bullshit that Cryptic put the two most wanted Discovery ships in lock boxes. They teased the new Enterprise for months. We can buy the hero ships of every series in the C-Store, except for Discovery and the Discoprise. I was really looking forward to using this Ship, along with the new D7. I was hoping they would come with 25th Century Skins. I figured that would be their way of giving everyone a T6 Connie. So many people would have bought a bundle for the Discoprise and D7, or just the standalone ship. It was guaranteed money. Nope, Cryptic had to be greedy. Once a digital asset is made, it costs the same to make 1 or 1 million. Lock boxes are trash.
I wish that instead of how different this is to the TOS design all that's changed was maybe some greeblies. The upscale to 457 meters in length and the proportion change ruins the Enterprise as a character. It's like hiring a man with gigantism for Tyrion Lannister.
You’re not a coward at all for not touching the availability. This video specifically was about the ship visuals and a bit on its stats, not an editorial on if this is an okay way to get it. Feel free to do a separate video if you wish, but like you said, we’re here to admire the ship and its looks. It’s best to stay on topic. :)
Looking forward to this ship. Now I'm off to sell my soul for this ship.........least that is how it feels. Who am I kidding though. I will likely never be able to get this ship*/. Still neat though.
Isn't there this service where you can have your STO ship 3D printed, as I remember it, you can have them printed in your choice of 2 plastics, AND for a fee, they will paint it to match whatever skin you prefer. Just a thought. Eighty dollars for the XL Eaglemoss was WAY too rich for my blood, but since there are zero options for toys or plastic models, it's still a waiting game.
The graphics are very nostalgic from alone the figures and the vegetation the game needs more polygons which should rebuild the game such. Unreal Engine 4 completely new.
I love how this version of the ship looks. I was so happy when I saw it on screen in Star Trek Discovery. The re-design itself makes so much more sense as the previous design before the movie era design. I have no problem seeing this as "how it should or always looked" when I go back and watch TOS episodes. What I hate is how Cryptic has handled the release of this ship and all of the ships they're hiding behind the lockboxes.
You never showed the Ba'ul or the Borg vanity shields. I think the Ba'ul shield would beat the Emperor's vanity shield. If I was to list, I would say, Ba'ul, Emperor, Borg (or one of the other top ones you listed, I just can't remember them right now). Could you make a quick one showing the Ba'ul and Borg shields?
Over all I like the ship, fell in love with it when I first saw it on the season final of Discovery. Hands down the CBS Constitution is far better than the JJ Movie ship. However I think Cryptic f*k'ed up making this ship a Flight Deck Carrier, it's one thing to give the player an experience of the last battle with Section 31, quite another when their server is having the worst lag in history because of all the pets. The Promo box. . Well you know that already so i'll leave it, and finally; having only 3 Tac Consoles. That's probably my only gripes about it. I will one day get one for my DSC Character.
Punisher 100 - I don't like the JJ Movie Enterprise. I called it ' the flying bed pan!' Quite like this one! Though! It's one massive improvement on the FBP!
Spoiler twist The discovery Enterprise was also using the same but slightly more modernised phasers that looked almost like the same phasers as those from the classic TOS connie of the 60s.
I love this ship and I would love to have it. I know that I too was a little sad when I saw that they were gamble boxed however, I wasn't surprised. Most Constitution classes are Promotional. I have however noticed that these aren't Twin phasers ! These are single beams that move and sweap over the target.
This thing is awesome. The phasers that go with it are awesome and I want them. I am a casual on and off player that will never be able to afford this thing. ...Just gonna go cry some tears of blood in the corner. Don't mind me.
Concerning the lack of a unique bridge, it was confirmed on the Ten Forward stream yesterday the reason the bridge isn't there is because they saw the bridge the same time we did on Discovery, and therefore didn't have the time needed to make it. It could be added at a later time but no decision had been made by the environment team yet. At the moment it still has the standard Crossfield bridge and access to the Walker bridge at least.
@@captainquirky8576 Possibly? I don't know that for certain, but I'm pretty sure that's what I heard on Ten Forward. Have the Crossfield myself but not this ship yet so I cannot confirm.
Actually, I don't play the game. I'm simply a distant admirer. Sorry to hear about how expensive it is. It's a pity; this ship is actually a pretty decent redesign, I think.
You do good work so you deserve it, & glad Cryptic allowed the collaboration. Visually I still prefer JJ's Kelvin Connie, but I'll never own neither so that doesnt matter. This DSConnie & the D7 both look really good. I hope you'll give the D7 proper video time too. I'm not a fan of the rampant gambling mechanics in STO, but these two ships were well done it seems by Cryptic in looks & most of their features.
16:35 Personally, I love the look of that deflector dish on this design. The deflector at 18:10 would look really good as well if it was less purple and more blue. Honestly, I think my only real gripes about this ship are that the nacelle pylons and neck are a little too low for my liking, the impulse engines feel too far apart, and there aren't any "ball" parts on the ends of the nacelles.
The thing is the enterprise needed a marden spin from the original for a more realistic turn of marden film making so it is considered the same enterprise from the older film just with a realistic spin on it
Congrats with your video for Cryptic and STO. It must of been a fantastic experience doing content with their aproval. Love the review. Many thanks. All at STOATD
What are the possible ways to get this ship? I would like to get it. Before to her, I was going to take the USS Vengeance... But... This ship is also not bad at all. I like it!
Enterprise Bee Hive edition. Small complaint? Could you please not whip around the ship so fast when looking at the shield arrays? It's dizzying. I know there's a lot to go through, but it makes me a little motion sick.
Personally, I liked the Disco shield a little bit more than the Emporer simply because the registry on the saucer was a little more pronounced. It's really too bad the lighting at the ship tailor is crap because I would've liked to have seen a better shot of the ship with the Type-0 skin and windows since that's the TOS skin.
ZEF, I tried the Type-0 stuff on the ship, and it doesn't look too bad. I also noticed something in your video that you may have missed. There is one thing that *can* be customized in the tailor and that's the warp nacelles. There's an option to make them look a little closer to the "Cage" style mainly with the Bussard collectors and end caps. Maybe check it out for fun?
I'm not a fan of the way the deflector visuals are applied to the dish, imo it'd look better if the lighting was on the hull behind the dish rather than on the dish itself
Love this design so much, I'm just sad that they went with the BS figure that marketing came up with in order to make the ship larger than the original and thus justify her as being sold as a completely separate ship rather than a skin. Because in the actual show, the read-out for the _Enterprise_ lists her length as the original 289 meters and that figure is supported by the effects in various episodes. The design and VFX teams made everything the correct size, only the idiots in marketing claim that she and the rest of the ships in Discovery are larger with STO following the "official" figure. Not the first time this has happened either, the _Excelsior_ is the first case I can recall this happening as a bunch of "official" stats were released which contradicted the scale she was designed for and filmed at.
The Enterprise is 2/3 the length of the Discovery as can be seen when the 2 dock alongside each other. The 442 Meter figure is accurate as STD is an Alternate Timeline. I'd say that visual evidence trumps a computer display.
Except A) It's not an alternate timeline and B) that assumes the "official" 750.5 meter figure is accurate to begin with Most scenes indicate that the 750.5 meter figure is far larger than the ship actually is based on deck size and comparisons to people and shuttles. With the 289 meter size, Discovery comes out to around 500 meters long which better matches up with what we see in the show. Ergo, since the 289 meter figure is actually on screen, it is more logical to assume that the "official' figures are completely wrong as usual and in reality Discovery is about 500 meters long Which also fits with the comparison to the Shenzhou as the original designer is on record that she's supposed to be Miranda sized, roughly 233 to 235 meters long.
God damn them bastards. Yet another connie restricted to a fraction of a chance to get only during a rare promotional offer. The least they could bloody do is put a regular T5 retrofit of the connie in the ZEN store like every other bloody cannon ship in the game. It wouldn't even have any of the special properties of T6 or promotional ships. But for gods sake will they ever stop giving the long term fans the middle finger like this.
Not a fan of the six impulse engines, the front registry lights, the dual pylons, and the overall squat profile. Also, that’s a lot of phasers with those 72 pets 😅
Besides the predatory "Promotional!" RNG... My problem with the DISCO-Enterprise is the struts, there's enough alteration from the original Connie that they could've left the struts whole/closed. It's the same problem with the Vengeance, I'd LOVE it more if there's an option to close that negative space.
It's a special sequence in that mission, if he flew past the marker satellite, it'd trigger the ambush the Klingons set by being cloaked (which is something they were not known to have at that time). That D7 is invincible because of that, so you'd fly after it and trigger the next mission sequence.
@ So for us common folks, we will never get this ship... Most likely a 1% chance in R&D packs... The best ships are always locked behind hundreds of dollars of lockboxes... Such a disappointment.
