I'm in the process of setting up this new studio room. It's been a lot of fun but my videos on RU-vid are a little more spaced out so that I can keep the quality high ►Chapters 0:00 - Intro 0:35 - Sub Sine Bass 3:40 - Pluck Bass 9:05 - 808 Bass 13:00 - Growl Bass 16:40 - Thanks for watching
Brother you really help me learning a lot. I don't efforts money to get all these education from any university. U give me free all of ur knowledge and experiences . I extremely thankful to you deep from my heart. I'm from india. And i really love your work . Please keep doing this. I really wanted to become a good music producer . And your teachings help me to growing a lot. Whatever i knew today about mixing and mastering. It's because of you brother. I'm a singer, song writer and i love making songs . Because of lacking money i can't record my songs from local professional studios, I do have i3 processor shitty pc in my house, it slow and crash some time but some how i patiently making my songs . In future if i earning money from my songs , tbh i really donates u money for teaching me. But pls never stop making videos. U don't know how much your video's are helping other like me. Love from India ❤️. And again thank you for helping us.🙏
Fine by me, Mike, especially if they're going to be as valuable as this one! Recently downloaded Vital & Hybrid and could tell Vital was going to be better for bass sounds so this is perfectly timed!
exactly. i see producers eq’ing low end out of instruments all the time but they never explain why they do it and how it helps the overall mix, so frustrating.
Sound design knowledge is what your music turns into authentic :) I guess a balanced understanding of how to produce, engineering and sound design is the key to be able making great stuff! 🥳
I just can’t believe both this great synth and the amazing lessons are free for everyone to access, at this point there are no excuses if you want to learn sound design ⚡️🎹 Thank you so much!
The first time I heard about this plugin, I was really unsure to use it. But then I compared it to Serum and I can say this is a really great alternative for if you can't afford Serum 👌🏽
Just got around working with Vital last month. This video is super helpful. Also appreciate the detailed explanation about Vital in your earlier video. Thank you.
Dude. I have a master's degree in physics and I am a high school teacher. Your are one of the best teachers on youtube. Seriously, I learned a lot from you today, not just about how to make a bas s sound in vital but what the synth controls actually DO. Thanks.
Been using FL for over a decade and have learned more in one week watching your videos, than in the entirety of my time producing!! HUGE thanks to you, sir!!
I've been searching for a good synth to make growls with and found it because of Michael (Thank you for making such great tutorials for us) . And let's all thank Matt Tytel for making such a great synth for free for us to use.
U would not believe that: About 3 hours ago a friend of mine and I were trying to get a good Pluck Bass. I remembered u making a video about that (but in Serum). Were were struggling to do that in Vital. And now that. WE WERE DOING THAT JUST A FEW HOURS BEFORE. I believe god sent u XD.
Thanks, it's a good idea to watch it when you are at your computer so you can follow along with Vital open. You might even find some better bass sounds by experimenting alongside the video :)
@@inthemix Definitely! Well, not only I can follow along with vital open, but also on my pc I have my DT 990 Pro rather than my phone's built in speakers 😂
Thank you for this incredible tutorial, Michael, but especially for the tip about using distortion and EQ to get lower basses to cut through on smaller sound systems. I've really been trying to focus on making music better for phone and laptop speakers, and I did come across the use of distortion and other techniques, but no other video has explained these concepts in as concise and clear a manner as you have. Aside from that, the abundance of other tips included in this other video (e.g., using the "Phase" function to cut down on pops and clips) are incredibly helpful as well. Thanks again! :)
Excellent video! I appreciate people like you, to take the time to make a well informed, quality video. I was trying to explain to my brother the impact of an 808 kit on music but couldn’t adequately describe its sound. You more than adequately demonstrated its use and it’s sound in a way that made me appear smart in relation lol
I was really expecting this video, and finally its here! It would be great if the entire sound design series of yours would have a Vital version for free users.
@@inthemix Hello, Michael ! I love to make music through this I live. But I can't afford to buy FL Studio. I come from a poor but decent family. I'm sorry if I disturbed. But I felt like writing to you. If I can do something for you in return, my pleasure. Maybe you can give me a chance in my dream. I signed up for many giveaways, but I never won. I hope you see my message.
I was playing guitar for about 3 years before I actually “learnt” to play guitar. I’ve been making music for years now but always struggled with bass. Now I feel I can actually make a bass sound and know what and why I’m doing, the explanation in this video is great. Even when you’re mentioning another video you’re explaining it perfectly. Not enough of that about
Crazy how I just watched this 2 years after you made it, and came here to comment(rarely comment) just to say man this video was the video I’ve been looking for, you’ve made me smile at the laptop while trying to make music again (been through alot and having some “writers block”) thank you so much for putting information like this out for people, I’m obviously going to come across more I’m sure but man ❤ much love
Thank you for stopping by to leave a comment. I also rarely comment on RU-vid! This is why I like making “evergreen” video content that can be applied years after I upload it. It feels more useful and fulfilling. Your comment really made my day! I hope creative inspiration keeps flowing this week, good luck!
Thank you so much for that video, this is exactly what I needed right now. I'm sitting in front of my computer making notes like back in school. You're very well structured and you're saving all of us a lot of time!
That growl bass started to remind be of the Playstation startup sound as it progressed :) Especially once you started adding reverb the distortion. Great video :)
Hi Michael thanks for this very useful video. I have a few ideas for videos I'd like to see: ●Advice on dealing with plugin delay and PDC to get things in time in projects. ●Tutorial on Slicex and Fruity Slicer (maybe another going over FLs other samplers) ●Advice on creatively sampling other songs/recordings (a bit like the loop to song videos) ●Advice on what MIDI keyboard and pad controller to get. Thanks very much for all of your fantastic videos. You really have helped a lot of people, including myself, improve their Music Production skills. ☺👍
Loving this vid! I recognised your face, and instantly remembered you from ‘how to build acoustic panels’, loved that video so I happily clicked this one! Love your approach to sharing info 🙏
This was really helpful, thank you! It's great to see a video that explains the common, basic steps you take with immensely flexible tools like Vital. I knew how all the parts worked, but not the common ways people chain them together to make the basic sounds we all recognize.
It's insane how perfectly timed this video is. I'm working on a track for someone who want's that synth sound. And I didn't have a plugin to deliver it. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!
I just downloaded Vital, and this channel is incredibly helpful. You're videos are VERY high quality. I particularly appreciate that you show how one parameter can change the sound by moving it back and forth before you settle on a value.
Watching your videos is really motivating me to attempt making music after so many years of thinking about it, bought a midi keyboard, downloaded Vital, I have literally no idea what I'm doing but it's fun, thank you for that! Also, hope you don't mind me saying but in my opinion, don't be scared to put adverts in your videos. I spotted the advert cue on the timeline right at the end and thought you probably will get very few advert views putting one there. Completely free content like this is really appreciated (it really really is) but I almost feel guilty not watching an advert, it's different when content creators are making money out of our short attention spans with flashy editing almost tricking your brian into watching more rubbish, but this content is different and watching a couple adverts in exchange is more than fair and I'm sure anybody else who appreciated your content would feel the same way ❤️ if I were you I'd put one in-between each new sound you're explaining here. But it's just a thought, thank you for all the videos man please keep doing what you do 👍
I like to take stuff and ease it up into a dual clipper with a feature to adjust how sof it is. If you start from a sine and then push it up into one or two clippers (ableton glue comp, gclip, decapitator) you get a sine tone that you can control the thickness/hardness of by flattening the top and pushing out the sides. Then you FM from one of the other oscillators and bam. You're bending it like Beckham.
I didn't know about this synth. I just got some new gear and I looked for some help learning how to use my Fire (this is an odyssey I've had this for a year and I am just now able to use it!). I found your channel and in two views you have helped my production work level up in ways I didn't understand. Thanks man. You do great work.
Great Tutorial as always! Thanks for that. Now I know the basics but I'd love to see a more detailed video about sound design of a 808. Maybe in reference of the most common 808s like Zay or Spinz and their differences.
Awesome basics tutorial. I really like your clean, calm and to-the-point style. Thanks for covering Vital! It's not only free but also open-source now :)
