Made my adopted mom watch this tonight. Nearing 80 with multiple medical issues. She has a referral, hopefully to you. I am going to start her on D3 till she can get more accurate testing. Hope to see you soon.
I developed low testosterone at age 40; I’m now 69 years old. I had found a book: The Testosterone Syndrome. The book had a questionnaire and it said I might have low T. I told my doctor about it and he wouldn’t test me because of my young age. I was a doctor and ordered my own test. My level was 7 (normal is 600-800). I was referred to an endocrinologist and he tested my Vitamin D. It was 7 also. I kept increasing my Vitamin D intake amount. Over the years I increased my it intake to hit a 60-80 level. Currently I take 25,000 IU a day! My last level was around 80. I worry about too much but it has been stable. I have low T, low Vitamin D, and insulin dependent Diabetes Mellitus. I have several endocrinological problems. I wonder about some overlying condition but because of my insurance (Medicare plus supplemental) the endocrinologist would not try to figure it out. It continues to be an issue. The reason that I get suboptimal care is that my insurance pays about 10% of the billing. When I practiced my office stopped taking Medicare as from a financial standpoint we lost money seeing people with this insurance. It is also illegal to “balance bill” the difference. It is impossible to keep an office open at that rate. Thanks for your video!
Thank you so much!! My dr says everyone is deficient in vitamin D but never tests it. Said “ take 400 units per day. This seemed low, so I started taking D3 one year ago 5000 units per day. I had myself tested and recorded a 52. I am so happy I took it upon myself to test!!

I am stage 3 CKD and have been low vit d for years, if I tried to take a supplement it would cause me to have diarrhea. Finally got my PC doctor to prescribe me calcitriol and I was able to tolerate that and my vit d levels are finally within normal limits. I just don't understand why that is all I can take.

Hello Doc.. from the Philippines, I took a 25 OH Vitamin D test, and the result was "35ng/ml" Is this enough? What are your dosage recommendations? Thank you very much!!
Vitamin D deficiency leads to inflammation deep around the bones surface. VERY deep nagging pain. Not related to calcium levels. Get tested and push levels up
@@TheVirtualNephrologist can those inflammations cause bone or joint deformities? For exemple recently I had extreme joint and bone pain on my hallux joint and started noticing the appearance of a bunion that decelopped with the pain in both feet. And I've never wore tight shoes or heels, indeed I'm a guy. (I've also noticed a mild genu valgum apearing with immense pain in knees)
yes it is called Osteomalacia. re watch the presentation, minute 2:20 there is a picture of deformity related to vitamin d deficiency..) also I said, before you get your levels to normal safe range, all symptoms may be related to vitamin D deficiency.. also make sure your blood pressure is perfect thevirtualnephrologist.com/about-us/meet-dr-rifai/
Indeed . Many people are low on vit. D But don't get tested . They start googling their symptoms and getting thousands of wrong diagnosis and panicking 😅.
Hello Dr, I am having kidney issues and will have surgery to remove stones. My grf is low and protein in my urine. I do not know my d level but want yo be proactive. Can I start myself on vitamin d now?
At approximately 18 mins. you say you prefer to take vitamin D3 “which is the 1,25 dihydroxy cholecalciferol”. Didn’t you say earlier the 1,25 dihydroxy gets produced in the liver and kidneys?
I’m taking 12000 units a day with k2, I was obese but lost weight and am now a normal weight do you think this is too much Vit D without knowing my levels
