I think vito is just a massive introvert and that's why he keeps to himself...Him staying so private makes him even more legendary though. There's something to be said about mystique. It makes him even more interesting that he's not constantly being an attention whore. Still though would love for him to come back.
@@JohnSmith-ef2sx yup I remember reading the white lion singer say Vito wouldn’t even return calls. He hurt his wrist and apparently gave up since he couldn’t play at that level.
Vito was one of my favourites back in the day. He copped a bit of it because his solos were all worked out but 30 years later they sound just as amazing now as they did back then.
Pete Thorn knows where Vito is. He is living in those musician apartments----Thorn mistakenly got some of Vito's mail at his apartment and delivered it to Vito's in the next building, says Thorn.
I remember Pete telling that story. I also remember reading somewhere Vito returned to Long Island NY and is working in the family (restaurant?) business. Info on his Wiki page is limited, so this is difficult to verify.
@@ianfurqueron5850 He said that was a false rumor. There is this Eddie Trunk interview of him in 2007 you should check out whre he talks about it all :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8N4UZPIr7SU.html
When I was younger, EVH was the ONLY guitarist I liked. Then I heard the stuff Brad Gillis was doing in Night Ranger and added Brad and Jeff Watson to my list, then I got into Randy Rhoads (after he died). Eddie was still my favorite. Even after Satch came onto the scene and impressed the hell out of me. Then Vito came along and took the #1 spot as my favorite player. I always try to steer young players towards Vito's music. I've seen so many comments on here from people saying Vito "copied everything from EVH". It pisses me off. Sure he tapped, but who didn't tap back then? I think they single out Vito for the tapping because he did it best. He stood out over the other players. Even EVH. Maybe part of the reason Vito left was because he was tired of being called "an EVH clone". Now that Eddie's gone, maybe he'll come back. Years ago, I wrote in to Dee Snider's "House of Hair" radio show asking whatever happened to Vito Bratta. His reply was: "True story! Vito was so disgusted with the way music was heading (people loving Grunge over all other rock music), that he put down his guitar and vowed never to play again.". I never believed the hand injury story and I think Vito eventually admitted he didn't hurt his hand. If he did hurt it, and loved playing so much, he would have taught himself to play left handed. I read a story about a player in the mid west US who did that. I can see Vito being disgruntled with the music industry because apparently White Lion was cheated out of a lot of money by their manager and record execs. Vito seems like a quiet, reserved guy who loves his privacy. I wouldn't want to be mobbed by fans everywhere I go either. He doesn't owe the fans anything. He doesn't need to make a new album or go on tour. But it would be great if he uploaded a 5 minute video once a month of himself just noodling around on guitar. That would be more than enough to please us fans. But after all these years, maybe he's a little rusty and feels people will make fun of him because he can't play like he used to. Who knows? It's just a shame that we won't hear any new music from...... Randy Rhoads.........because he's dead. Eddie Van Halen......because he's dead. Jason Becker...........because he can't move a muscle in his body. Vito Bratta................because he doesn't want to. C'mon Vito.....5 minutes a month. That's all we ask.
You tapped into Vito. I wish I could tap into Vito? But whenever I try to? I sound like Kirk Hammet. All my Solo's sound like Kirk Hammet. Even when I'm playing Skynard. Bugs the hell outta me. But my non-musician friends say I shredd. But always sounds like Kirk. Makes me wanna just strum chords. LOL
The last time I saw an MP-1 it was in my rack below my Quadraverb. Good times. Thanks for taking us through some Vito action. Great vid. Happy Holidays from the Bay Area. MK
My MP1 currently sits below my Quadraverb GT. All my rack gear minus the MP1 was bought at a pawn shop for cheap. I finally have the sound I wanted when I was a kid but couldn’t afford it.
Friend, l automatically thumbs up your videos. Thanks for topics on products “gear” l love. Preamps, Kemper, 80’s, and glory days history. Blessings to ya buddy
Didn't read all the comments, but my understanding is he had serious hand issues and gave up playing for the most part. As someone going through the same thing as years pass me by, I feel for him.
How I miss my ADA...every time I see you with your rack old candys makes me look for one to grab it again. Hope to see Vito caming back again and the huge refrigerator racks...again!!!
I don't know what it is about bank 40-49, but myself, and damn near everyone I've seen when using an ADA uses those banks as the primary bank. Excellent video as usual, Mikey!
I love the “Pride” album. I wish White Lion had a more masculine singer. Mike Tramp was just too pussy sounding for me. He was like Britney Spears, he had the look and no voice. Vito has always been one of my top 5 favorite guitar players. It’s too bad that he just dropped the music scene and he hasn’t played since White Lion broke up. He says he doesn’t even remember how to play anymore.
Awesome channel thanks so very much, BTW the last I heard from Vitto was on Eddie Truncks radio show, He said there was some issues with his playing hand, also his father was very ill then passed. But this interview was 4 or 5 years ago.
Hummm , have you guys ever seen him live in concert ? Most boring player and band to watch ever. Barely moved throughout the show. Crosby stills nash & young were more exciting lol 😆
Michael Nielsen, can you make another video lesson showing Vito bratta and EVH scale sequencing patterns they would use often? when they would play a scale it would be in groups of patterns.
Great job and Vito was so awesome. Of all the great guitar players at the time, I thought his playing would mature the best due to the great harmonic content of his note selection. Question...Did he use EMG’s for that recording?
Bratta, Moore, Sykes, De Martini, Lynch, Lee........!!!🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 Para los que amammos el head rock son nuestra inspiración constante. Excelente video. Bravo bravissimo...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Mike. You've just inspired me to find White Lion's All You Need Is Rock'n'Roll on the Spotify. Very Eddie in many ways! (modded Plexi?) Be excellent to each other!
Vitto had the most melodic and tasteful solos I've ever heard. Just jaw dropping beautiful, and technically tight as hell. What a genius. Such an understanding of peicing together melodies and notes that melt as fluid together gorgeously...what an artist. Surprisingly, alot of geniuses sometime shy away from the spotlight...he deserves this recognition. The solo of "wait" is pure genius... The lady of the valley is phenomenal. Little fighter is awesome too. But I've never heard a more beautiful song than "When the children cry." His solos just sing incredibly by themselves but fit in so effortlessly snug into each song. A rare Artist indeed. The real kind...
I’ve always loved Vito Bratta’s playing. Sure wish he would start doing something again. I don’t mean to upset anyone, but as was stated many times, we can thank Eddie Van Halen’s influence for Vito and many others playing. Definitely a big influence, but Vito added his own thing to make it his.
I have been watching your channel for about a month and I have to say you're insightful knowledgeable and inspiring you had Leon Todd with you and that's how I found your channel through Leon Todd I'm a huge RAC fan been one all through the 80s and 90s I've never quit you have opened my eyes to gear out there I didn't understand about I am internally grateful please keep up the great work look forward to what you put out and truly enjoying your knowledge and information thank you
Jesus dude we must have come from the same musical mother. Every video you put out and the music you play is pretty much what I was playing or the gear I am buying (or thinking about buying). I think we’re the exact same age too. Lol.
