Vitrectomy for floaters - patient recovery

This is a 3 months update after the vitrectomy surgery. All is fine at this point in time.
if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments below.
I live in NSW Australia and the vitrectomy has been performed at Vision Eye Institute Chatswood which I would highly recommend, if you live in NSW.

I'd just like to say thank you for making these videos. I think it's important how much you have stressed that you didn't take the decision to have surgery lightly (cancelling it, and then rescheduling etc.) I just wish there was some way of quantifying how bad someone's floaters were, before they took the decision for surgery.

Hey man, I'm 22 and I've been dealing with the same issue since I was 16. I'm no medical expert, but from what I understand a lot of ophthalmologists just aren't familiar with how floaters are treated. But there is a doctor in California who does a limited vitrectomy for floaters. It's apparently much safer than an entire vitrectomy. His name is Jerry Sebag if you're interested in looking into how this procedure works. Not everyone is a good candidate for this surgery, but some people are and I'm sure it can help depending on the severity of your floaters. Good luck.

Hi There, So excited to come across your video. I actually saw Dr Chen in November last year and I'm making a decision to have the procedure. Can I ask why you chose Dr Chen? I've been very anxious about the surgery. I didn't like the idea of laying face down with the bubble, but it sounds like you don't have to do that. Will you do the other eye? How is your eye? Did Dr Chen explain the long term effects of Floaters only Vitrectomy? Sorry about all the questions. Need to know before I take the plunge .

So you had surgery on only one eye with good results and no floaters in that eye. Burt I assume you still have floaters in the other untreated eye, isn’t that still a problem for you ? Or maybe I missed something and you actually had the procedure for both eyes ? Thanx for this valuable and well thought out vlog, many appreciate it. Let us know when / if cataracts develop. Kudos
