The marvelous energy of Vivaldi's uniquely Italian baroque survives fresh across the centuries and oh the recorders rock.

And to think that Vivaldi was about 62 years of age when he wrote this! Young at heart.

Scrive Leonard Bernstein a proposito di questo concerto: "Vivaldi era uno di quei compositori meravigliosi che sembrava non restare mai a corto di idee né di strumenti per cui scriverle... Alcuni degli strumenti per cui Vivaldi scrisse questo pezzo praticamente non esistono più, come la tiorba... Poi c'erano due strumenti dette trombe marine, che erano, strano a dirsi, strumenti a corde... Abbiamo poi anche un oboe basso, che sostituisce l'antico salmoè... Il tutto combinato insieme è una specie di accozzaglia di strumenti strani... Ma che suono meraviglioso possono produrre questi ventitrè strumenti! E' musica splendida - dovreste verificarlo di persona." Siete d'accordo?

I was happy and excited to see the two chalumeau players. I was almost in tears at the end of this piece; they all seem to be enjoying their performance. I wish I could be there playing one of the chalumeau parts.

I never imagined that watching this concert played by people who wear normal clothes they use every day would bring classical music, so close to me. They look like regular people playing beautifully with a rare energy. Simply wonderful. Back row, the guy wearing white shirt, who plays a wooden flute (sorry, I do not know the correct name) move your body in response to music. . The girl who play the mandolin wowwww .. .. how nice and healthy ..

Amazing...this song put me in love with baroque music...I recall that moment as my musical salvation. I've been playing violin for 15yrs and viola for 6 months. Baroque musics is really the best genre. BAROQUE FOR LIFE !!!
