Vivaldi - Gloria In D Major RV 589 

I had belonged to a choral group (I'm now 90 and no longer to sustain long breaths)for 60 years. We learnt many works. I often come across many of these on the classical channels and I enjoy listening and singing along with them when I can.

This is a pure masterpiece. I'm only 17 listening to this and this has lifted my spirits in a special way! Gloria in excelcis Deo!

I sang this as an alto in my uni music society when I was about 20. I'm now nearly 60. When I listen all the memories and emotions flood back. Its wonderful. Thank you

I feel throughout that my spirit is floating upwards through the clouds and then I quietly huddle at heaven's door eagerly awaiting that day when I will be invited in. On that day I will hear it in its full magnificence and see the Face of God with a smile of enjoyment.

I really cherish Vivaldi... Right up there w/ Mozart & J.S. Bach... His Gloria is my favourite... so energetic, octave leaps, joyful harmonies, truly inspiring & energising!

Of course I sang this Gloria in College Choir so many times. It is so beautiful. But what really gets to my heart and soul is this recording of Et In Terra Pax which feels as though it was channeled down to Vivaldi from the heavenly choirs above. Wow!

In Tokyo I feel the autumn atmosphere while listening to this masterpiece and hearing the chirp of ephemeral autumn insects . From chaotic Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun .

I wasn't raised on classical music and discovered Vivaldi by watching Runaway Train. This performance of the whole Gloria In D Major work is utterly mindblowing in its execution. So beautiful. Thank you. (I wonder what Vivaldi would have thought watching Runaway Train.)

Music 🎼 is a language that speaks the heart of God. All people recognize and understand this language. Even small children understand this language. I was playing Brahm’s once, a sad tune, and the 2 year old girl I was babysitting began to cry. I had to turn the music off. It broke her heart.

Mi primera obra cantada para coro y orquesta. Tenía 15 años y fue en La Victoria Edo. Aragua, Venezuela en 1987. Me conmovió el Et in Terra Pax hominibus por su armonía en ascenso pero con pasión, como si conectara el plano terrenal con el cielo. Está obra me formó como persona sensible a la música y las emociones que la misma genera.

Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 - 28 July 1741) was an Italian Baroque musical composer, virtuoso violinist, teacher, and priest. Born in Venice, the capital of the Venetian Republic, he is recognized as one of the greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe. He composed many instrumental concertos, for the violin and a variety of other instruments, as well as sacred choral works and more than forty operas. His best-known work is a series of violin concertos known as the Four Seasons. Many of his compositions were written for the all-female music ensemble of the Ospedale della Pietà, a home for abandoned children where Vivaldi (who had been ordained as a Catholic priest) was employed from 1703 to 1715 and from 1723 to 1740. Vivaldi also had some success with expensive stagings of his operas in Venice, Mantua and Vienna. After meeting the Emperor Charles VI, Vivaldi moved to Vienna, hoping for preferment. However, the Emperor died soon after Vivaldi's arrival, and Vivaldi himself died, in poverty, less than a year later.

I too sang this in choir at the Tri-State Music Festival in 1965 under Dr. Loius Pichieri when I was 15. Never forgot it, finally found it again✨❤️

I did this piece in, I think, 1974 when I was in Washington states' All-State Choir as a 2nd bass. Various parts of the music still bring me to tears. Not just from the memories it brings back, but the beauty of the music.

each movement was powerful in its own way, gratias agimus tibi is definitely underrated just because of its duration of time to complete the movement. did this whole book in our masterworks concert my sophomore year in high school, and it’s an experience i’ll never forget. such a great book as it contains powerful dynamics and strong pitches. would love to do it again
