Within a healthy eye is a clear lens. As we become older, that lens becomes cloudy. The cloudy lens is called a Cataract. In cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens implant (IOL).
There are many types of IOL's, including those that treat presbyopia in order to reduce dependence on reading glasses. Multifocals historically provided the strongest reading vision, but they are associated with dysphotopsias such as halos, glare, and starbursts at night. In order to reduce dysphotopsias, extended depth of focus lenses came out such as the Vivity and Symfony IOL's. They provide some mid-range/intermediate reading vision with less severe dysphotopsias at night. The Vivity lens has a more favorable night time profile than the Symfony, so it has gained popularity. Now, the Clearview multifocal IOL is available and has an impressive night time dysphotopsia profile, and stronger reading vision that the Vivity and Symfony. In this case, a patient has the Vivity in one eye, and the Clearview in the other. He shares his experience and lets us know which lens he likes better.

Agree we need real life input from patients with this lens regarding night driving and contrast.

I'm very interested in the night\dusk profile, as well as the reduced dysphotopsias is the low light contrast any better than "standard" trifocal lenses, would really love to see more real life patient feedback of this lens. Thanks for posting.

thank you! More of this please. I'd love to get a comparison between the Clearview and the relatively new (as of July 2022) Lenstec SBL-3

Hello my friend 😊 The Clearview in this video comparison is the Lenstec Clearview 3 (SBL-3)

Where can we get that reversible chart for both near and intermediate VA testing?

What about the Tecnis PureSee, could it be a good alternative to the Vivity ? Is it worth waiting for ?

Could you do a procedure to correct astigmatism and then do Clearview 3 IOL?
@DoctorKrad
@DoctorKrad 2 месяца назад
Yes, Implanting the Clearview 3 can be paired with another procedure to treat the residual astigmatism. LRI's can be performed at the same time, or if the astigmatism is more severe, laser correction can be performed after the eye has stabilized after the initial surgery

Why was a Vivity lens chosen over PanOptics for the left eye?

It is possible to have residual refractive error after any eye surgery. Unfortunately we are not machinists, working on metal.
@DoctorKrad
@DoctorKrad Месяц назад
Yes of course. In fact, most patients have a residual refractive error. The goal is to make it as small as possible

How do you measure pupil size, and do you feel this is important in outcomes?

For the Clreaview 3 would a +2.50 presbyopia be a good candidate?
@DoctorKrad
@DoctorKrad Месяц назад
A +2.50 hyperopic presbyope should notice a HUGE improvement of vision with the Clearview so long as you have a regular cornea, an otherwise healthy eye, and your Surgeon centers it appropriately

Too bad he's underwhelmed by the Vivity. Can't help but wonder if he wants it exchanged for the Clearview assuming it's not a toric Vivity.

The other question is the blue for both far and on the light test because of the refractory error that was later corrected. If so is this really the best comparison?

Why did he have a refractive error with the Vivity?
