Initial testing of the 2Kw version of the amplifier.
It is using a total of 8 X MHT1803 devices. The low pass filters have been upgraded to a 7-pole filter design.
Specs:
Drive Power: 35w max
Voltage: 48-52v DC
Current: 62A max.
Power Output: 2000w HF - 1500w 6m
Harmonic output: better than -55dbc

I'm just curious, I can't find anything regarding the setup of the amp. Would you be able to drive it at 400W for instance? bit of a waste but considering the price, it seems like a valid option, just not sure about gain levels and drive power. Cheers.

Amplifier output is dictated by the drive power from the exciter, in this case reduce the power from the Yaesu rig and the PEP from the amplifier will decrease accordingly.

Okay, on their website it seems to indicate that this is 1.6 through 40 MHz. Does it work on the 6 m band? And what is the output?

The amplifier on the website is different and designed for industrial use. The one seen in the video has switchable filters and covers 6m. The output on 6m is 1.5kw plus.

@@vk3amp That's excellent to know. I'm thinking about retiring my Ameritron AL 80 after 25 years and getting a new amp. I mostly work 160 meters but I'm enjoying the occasional opening on 6 meters. Thanks for the reply! 73

Looks interesting but the fans start getting very loud just calling CQ. What does it sound like key down? In a contest or DX pileup the fans will get very distracting forcing use of headphones.

The sound is from an external Flatpack power supply. The Huawei power supply is much quieter when it's inside the amplifier.

Either way ldnos can get rather warm so you want power fans

Fan complains a bit much. Not a problem with RF2K-S.
