Today I went looking for a reliable source of wood for my pyrography. Ideally I wanted to find somewhere that has sycamore, silver birch or poplar wood as these are the best types of wood to burn on in my opinion. The first place had an enormous cut of oak but it was way too big and I had no way of transporting it easily.
The second farm was a hit. The guy had absolutely millions of wood and it was all the best types too. I ended up buying a large slice of 3 inch thick sycamore for £25. AMAZING!!!

Didn’t realize how hard it was for a guy to get wood. :) You’re videos make me smile. Keep up the good work. You’re very talented.

Jack, just came upon your RU-vid videos and have viewed about 6 of them. Looks like you really care about this form of art and are willing to share your knowledge. Just want to let you know that I really appreciate the succinctness of your videos. Just starting in wood burning and I'm letting you know that this American, from across the pond, will be waiting for your next video. Barry Jay

Ahh thanks for the feedback. I really do care about it. The biggest challenge is that most people see pyro as a craft so trying to fetch a good profit can be tricky. My ultimate goal is to change the way people think about the medium and see it as art rather than craft.

Jack, I noticed in your video with Cosmic Chimp back in May that you expressed wanting to leave your 9 to 5 job and make a living through pyro art. I think the best way to do that is to create a website where people, companies and corporations can commission you to create art for them or even show them an another way to express their logo. I know you were trying to get exposure through Cosmic Chimp's Vlog, didn't think it was your best decision to be on his show. Hope that you can show people that wood burning and wood carving are a serious form of art and not just a craft. Barry Jay

Hi jack, I’ve been doing pyrography for about a year now and was just wondering if you knew if it’s illegal to take tree stumps from the local woods which is just lying around and how would I dry the wood out, Many thanks in advance and keep up the great work
