I have the feeling many will love this one!
As of July 3rd 2023, Merri-Bek Council now. officially has a 4-BIn waste Service. In true fashion Merri-bek has to be different - having the below system:
Garbage - Weekly
Mixed Recycling- Fortnightly
FOGO (Food Organic & Garden Organics) - Weekly
Glass Recycling - Monthly
Merri-Bek is now the 13th ‘early-mover’ council to complete the rollout of its kerbside glass service, joining Ararat, Whittlesea, Colac Otway, Hobsons Bay, Horsham, Macedon Ranges, Moyne, Pyrenees, Surf Coast, Warrnambool, City of Yarra and Yarriambiack, with their Glass Recycling bin Service,
I have only now in September had the chance to film the new service, After many failed attempts to film the glass, before school I set out to the Thursday area to get my first look at what truck was doing the glass, After hearing bottles smashing from a few streets away, I raced down to find #11485, and got a few clips. The next day, being Friday, I had arranged with a mate to set out and film some more of the new service, unfortunately he couldn’t make it, so it was just me and 11485 again.
I’m pretty happy with the footage and being the first to film glass in Merri-bek (although it was pretty likely I’d get it first anyway), while the video is a bit short, this is the first time a GenV has appeared on glass on RU-vid, all other videos are of Dennis or Iveco Spaks.
I’m definitely going to try and film more of the glass over the holidays.
